First of all there's only the plastic ratchet holding them shut. No zipper, velcro, nothing holding the crotch shut so the barn door is wide open. Automatic return right there. Then there's the fit. I'm a size 34 waist and these things in a size 34 feel like they're gonna rip when I sit down. The legs are super narrow and taper down to be skin tight over my legs. I have scrawny legs too. This is my first pair of mtb shorts, but I can't imagine you'd wanna ride a bike with these things on, especially with kneepads. Also over 100 dollars they're like cheap swim trunks.

By far the best mountain biking shorts I have worn over the last 20 plus years. Length is perfect. Most mountain biking baggy shorts are too long and hang down past my knees. I'm 5'10" and they are right at my knee when standing. Super light and stretchy . Great Summer time short since they are relatively thin. Work fine with knee pads and actually because of the way they stretch are ideal. Worn them in Enduro races and XC races along with hot summer rides. Size fits true. I'm a 32" waist and wear the 32" Flexair. I had read some reviews that they run small so also ordered a 34" which was too large in waist.

These shorts cost a pretty penny to be shorts. Fox has coupons floating around the internet to mitigate the inflation. But, I must say I like them a lot. Riding in the Southwest desert (Phoenix, AZ), keeping cool is a must. These shorts keep me cooler than traditional MTB or trail shorts I buy from Costco. Also, the material dries very fast. The zippered pockets are definitely a must and seem durable.

It took me ages to find a pair of shorts that looked good, were comfortable and flexible, with durable material, sensible pockets (normal, not weird big/small/ strangely placed). These fit the bill well.Branding is subtle but exposed enough. Colour is nice, albeit doesn’t go with much. Favourite thing is the belt adjuster which works so simply. My only criticisms are the lack of fly (I t’s a bit weird but not functionally a problem), and would prefer them to be just below rather than just above the knee. Great shorts 🩳
I bought these because I liked my Fox defend shorts so much but wanted something lighter but with similar features. I personally love the strap Fox uses. It's more secure and easier to use then a button snap. I also like the little air vents in the legs. It makes a big differenceSizing is a problem.I am always a size 30 but can wear a 29 without discomfort but some tightness. The 30's I bought are tight and feel more like 29s to me. I only need about 3 clicks on the belt/strap for it to be tight leaving at least 15 more clicks to go. 31 would be perfect for me yet I would never consider buying a pair of 31 pants at the store. SIZE UP!
Had previously purchase the Ranger Rawtech and really liked the ratchet-style closure. Fit is nice and slim, doesn't bunch while pedaling or get in the way. Materials is light and stretchy. The goggle strap inspired yoke of the waistline is super comfortable and doesn't move or slip. Very light and breathable. Not sure of their durability just yet. Mainly wear these for trail days, have done a few bike park day but haven't laid it down in them yet so I can't speak to how well they take abuse. Judging on the materials they might not do that well, but for more trailriding they are great. So much so I've bought three pairs of the FlexAir models. Sizing-wise I'd suggest rounding up. I'm a solid 33 so I got the 32 thinking with the ratchet-type closure it'd allow that ... MoreHad previously purchase the Ranger Rawtech and really liked the ratchet-style closure. Love the flexibility of these shorts. They move with your body and they don't your restrict movement. Keeps moisture and dirt off easy. I would maybe order a size bigger than what you are used to wearing if you're new to these shorts. The ratchet waste strap makes it easy to adjust. MUCH better than button shorts where they can cause pressure to your body. I don't ride in anything else!
I don’t want my key fob and phone grating on the top of my leg while riding, and these shorts were perfect until this new version where you’ve made them for sitting at a bike shop rather than riding an actual bike - moving the pockets so they’re on top of your thighs while riding?? Why would you do that? Also, removing the stretch waistband with a fixed, thick piece of material? Is it cheaper to manufacture? I can’t use these now. These are for hot weather when you have no other storage for keys/phone, no jacket. Keep the design that worked, throw this design out.
These are the tightest shorts I have ever owned. I have many mtb shorts in the same size (34 waist) but these are so short and tight they feel like I'm wearing a kids size. I would have sent them back but I accidentally spilled some brake fluid on them so now I'm stuck with something I'll never be able to wear. Super bummer.
i do not like shorts with wide-mouthed leg openings (skinnier legs equal church bell sounds when walking). i also don't like shorts that go past the knee. these are both the perfect width and the perfect length. i returned the TLD Skyline and got another pair of these (i have been wearing Skylines for years, but the new ones seemed to fit baggier and longer). These are also awesome for ruggedness and stain resistance. After wearing grey shorts for 2 DH park days with some muddy spots, they washed up as if they were brand new.only downside is the cinching that happens at the closure when you have to tighten them more than neutral positioning (you can see that in the product pic).highly recommend, but don't be greedy and buy em all up. i had a tough time finding ... Morei do not like shorts with wide-mouthed leg openings (skinnier legs equal church bell sounds when walking). i also don't like shorts that go past the knee. these are both the perfect width and the perfect length. i returned the TLD Skyline and got another pair of these (i have been wearing Skylines for years, but the new ones seemed to fit baggier and longer). These are also awesome for ruggedness and stain resistance.
