Definitely get the speed frame pro version the extra features over the non pro version are worth it. I forget I’m even wearing the helmet it’s so light. Especially compared to my full face. This helmet is great for everything but the more extreme down hill trails. I’m very interested in trying fox’s proframe now for the more extreme stuff if it fits comfortably like this one. Another plus is it gets good safety ratings and still looks pretty cool, not a combo I’m used to.

I got this helmet based on many positive reviews and have only been somewhat happy, I wore it mountain biking exclusively for at least a year thru all the temps one experiences in western Montana. The helmet itself is very comfy and feels light on my head. My dissatisfaction comes from even during early morning MTB rides when it's cool out, I noticed I was getting pretty hot and my head was sweating like crazy during hillclimbs. The other thing I noticed was the helmet didn't vent hardly at all as speed increased, say on the flats or downhill sections. I mean I couldn't feel any cooling at all especially compared to other older helmets I have which weren't fit to continue wearing from a safety standpoint. Now I only wear the Speedframe when I am commuting or ... MoreI got this helmet based on many positive reviews and have only been somewhat happy, I wore it mountain biking exclusively for at least a year thru all the temps one experiences in western Montana. Crashed earlier this week riding alone and this helmet saved me from much worse outcomes. Riding alone, hit a blind drop and took the wrong line and flew head first into a tree. Trees don't usually move out of the way, so I got knocked out cold and landed a few yards down the hill. I was filming for a video and recorded that I was down for about two minutes with my handlebar choking my neck. I woke up in time to remove the bike from my neck and walked it off thinking I had been down for a quick second. When I watched the vid I was terrified by how bad this crash could have been. The helmet cracked and definitely prevented bad things from happening. Resulted in a decent bruise on my hip from ragdoll landing on the ground and a concussion that lasted a couple days. Helmets have come a long way since the old giant piece of Styrofoam that didn't fit very well. This helmet is cutting edge and fits so well and is so comfortable. Size wise, I was right on the max edge for the medium. After reading some of the other reviews, I went with the medium and hoped it wouldn't be too small. Fortunately there is plenty of room and I even have a few clicks left on the tightening inner ratchet band. The ventilation is amazing as is the Fidlock chin strap. Don't cheap out, this helmet is worth the extra bucks, you won't be disappointed!
It's a great helmet that I bought mostly because of the Virginia Tech crash test rating (5 stars), the look and style, and the deep discount I got on a not-so-popular color. It fits my slightly oblong head well both with and without a headband. I am deducting one star for the following reasons: The visor in its lowest position is just barely low enough to be seen over the shell of the helmet. I wear sunglasses when I ride, not goggles, and I like a lower visor for sun protection. That being said, I can usually keep the sun off my face with the visor in its lowest position. The magnetic strap is nice, but not a reason to buy or not buy a helmet. The magnetic strap is nice, but not a reason to buy or not buy a helmet. What I don't like about it, though, is that it is positioned a little too far back and brushes against my neck while riding. This is only mildly annoying, as anytime the ride is more interesting than road climbing, I'm not thinking about the strap on my neck. Some adjustability would be nice, though. I like my strap loose and away from my neck. Don't worry, mom, I still clamp it down tight with the fit dial. Additionally, the inner frame of the helmet tends to shift so that it is directly behind the front vent holes, blocking the air circulation and ventilation that was intended to be provided by these holes. Not ideal, but also not a deal breaker. Fix these minor issues, and this helmet would get five stars. For fit, style, and protection, though, the Speedframe Pro gets high marks.
Good ventilation, terrible sweat control. I've had this helmet for 2 years, I liked the way it looks and most of the features it has. I do wish it had a way to store sunglasses like other helmets in this category. The huge issue I have is when you're sweating a lot, the front sweat pad fills up quickly and drains right into my sunglass lens. I'm guessing this is due to how small the sweat pad is in the front which is trying to act more like a vent than sweat absorbing. Other helmets I've had in the past have not had an issue like this. This is dangerous because when the sweat dries in the lens, it leaves blurry streaks everywhere and I have ride partially blind the rest of the ride which is usually the faster descents.
Medium size fits me perfectly - better than any other I've had. The straps lay in close to the sides and don't look floppy . The visor is adjustable but very stiff and wont slide up and down during normal riding. Overall looks great. The helmet is quite light weight feeling which I like to reduce fatigue. Despite light weight and great ventilation the helmet scored really high on the Virginia Tech helmet tests - my primary reason for getting it. The helmet was supplied with extra replacement pads - a nice bonus. The fidlock takes a little getting used to but works great.
I needed a new helmet after crashing with my previous helmet a few times. It seems like a very well made helmet that will keep my head well protected.I love the fit and styling, although I'm still unsure why it's named a "camo" helmet. The color blocking is deep red and white.I'm a female with a fairly big head and the medium fit well with a touch of room to adjust and add a skull cap for winter riding. Also, I noticed it doesn't hit the top of my sunglasses as much, which was a bother with my old helmet.Only item to mention as a slight hiccup is the magnetic buckle. It only slides one direction to unclasp it. I'm still trying to get used to it so have had a few times when I was impatiently trying to get my helmet off. But I know I'll get it figured out. Not quite as easy as the click buckle but it looks smoother and less clunky, so I'm happy with it.
The Speedframe Pro is an excellent helmet - shipped fast made it even better. The helmet fits perfectly. I really like the magnetic buckle and adjustable visor. The helmet has plenty of airflow and so far hasn't felt the slightest bit too hot.My only complaint is that I'd like to see a little more clearance inside the helmet to accommodate a variety of sunglass styles. Would be 5-star rated from me if this weren't a problem. The helmet fits perfect and works fine with traditional style sunglasses with the wraparound earpiece (like Ray-Ban Wayfarers or Frogskins). However, with this particular helmet I cannot wear my Oakley-style wraparound sunglasses with straight earpieces because they don't fit inside the helmet.
Overall, the helmet is great. I upgraded from a Bell Super 3r and the weight and venting in my opinion is about the same.I love the slender appearance of the speedframe and the comfort of the straps. My only gripe is with the visor. The visor pivot is mounted higher on the top of the helmet, and the visor itself isn’t long. When you wear the helmet, you don’t even see a majority of the visor even if it’s in the most downward position. The annoying thing I notice is that when wearing sunglasses, there’s a sliver of sunlight that gets to your eyes between my glasses and visor. Also, another gripe with the visor, it’s in a slightly different color and texture than the rest of the helmet, what gives? The visor could have benefited from a little more R&D.
