Very much not my taste, but it's great quality. If you are a fan of vintage perfumes, and rose and patchouli frags then this is the perfume to get for sure. It's a heavy hitter and lasts practically forever. This perfume may fade but it never leaves! It clings to fabric like no other. It's heavy in the rose and patchouli, supported by incense and a bit of ambiguous spices. There is absolutely NO sweetness to this and I don't get any berries. It smells very vintage in my opinion, and would be most appealing to wiser folk. I would say this leans feminine but a man could easily wear this and no one would question it. This fragrance would take a great deal of confidence to wear as to not let this fragrance "wear you".

Lipstick Rose is one of the Frederic Malle scents I had heard of before purchasing the discovery set, and one that I really wanted to try. I often really enjoy vintage cosmetic iris scents, so I was optimistic. This is more light and gentle than I was expecting, but it is a vintage, powdery floral. the notes behind the scent are violet, grapefruit, rose, iris, raspberry, vanilla and white musk. As expected, I do get the iris, and the violet and rose are there are the top, but seem to fade a little with the dry down. There also remains a sweetness from the raspberry and vanilla. Then, I’m getting something interesting as a differential, the acidity of the cutting lemon at the opening, blended perfectly with a curious green note in the heart that I believe comes from the narcissus most probably! Now the best part, is that it’s entire journey is then supported by well-weaved musks. CI isn't a super complex fragrance that takes you on a wild ride, but rather linear and predictable, which I don't find to be an issue. What Ropion has done, and done extremely well is that, he made a classic cologne with staying power and very natural smelling ingredients, but in the dry down with all that musk, can it still be really called a cologne? This fragrance is totally unisex and could be worn literally by anyone in any environment. This nuclear combination took many scrubbing with soap, alcohol rubs, and two showers to fully leave my skin. This was only two sprays of each frag. My room also still smells like a Christmas Carol is taking place 24 hours later… This will be beautiful in the cooler months when I try it again. I will love it with hot apple cider and a fire with my S.O.

They are also composed by people who aren't simply lab technicians or chemists but olfactory artists, many of whom have decades of experience in the industry.That being said, there is nothing wrong with a good dupe, especially if it comes from a company that is honest about what it's selling as this one is.But this, and the Beige that I ordered, are terrible dupes. I've worn both for years, so I know what they should smell like. I wasn't expecting smell-alikes, but neither was I expecting such flat, poorly constructed formulations. Carnal Flower is a stunning white floral fragrance that’s perfect for warm weather. Sweetness from tuberose, creaminess from the coconut and the freshness of melon is what I get in the dry down. Reminds me very much of Gardenia by Chanel, and also Lys 41 by Le Labo - two fragrances I love very much. Not to say they’re all the same because they aren’t at all, but if you find those two scents enjoyable, you’re going to love Carnal Flower.I do have a problem buying Frederic Malle fragrances from Mecca though and that is the packaging. The first time I smelled it a friend of mine let me use the hand lotion made by the same brand (not sure if it’s available now, this was maybe 4-5 years ago). At that time I felt it was overpowering and obnoxious on me. Fast forward a few years I received a sample from my mother of the perfume and it was heavenly. Maybe it wasn’t as in-your-face but it smelled divine. It’s very strong and the silage is there. The dry down is magnificent. My husband, who normally doesn’t like any sort of strong fragrance loves this scent on me. The company states that it uses hundreds of roses (or something to that effect) to make the tiniest amount of this fragrance and I believe it. It’s potent but pure woman, strength and sensuality.

I have spent so much trying to find the perfect scent-but everything either gave me a headache, or I hated it after a month. But this one?? Not an instant love, I will admit. It was very green on me in the store which initially deterred me from purchasing, but I had a sample in my purse that I randomly used one day, and once it dried down it was amazing. I didn’t even realize I was the one who smelled so good. I kept looking around to see if someone nearby was wearing the scent to ask them what it was, then my bf compliment me. And I was shocked. Me? Im the one who smells like that? I used that tester for a solid week before I decided it was the one.
