Friday The 13th The Game PlayStation 4 Edition

PlayStation 4 - Friday the 13th lets you discover how long you would last in a slasher movie. Set in iconic locations from the film series, this asymmetrical third-person horror game lets you play as Jason Voorhees or one of seven camp counselors. Being a psycho murder-machine, Jason has a suite of abilities to help him murder the counselors. Each counselor has different strengths and weaknesses, but their only truly effective tool is teamwork. If they can work together, they might survive until dawn, repair an escape vehicle, call the cops, or even kill Jason. But one false move and you'll hear the iconic Friday the 13th theme song and end up dying a gruesome, gory death.

A rare, well-made LJN title with a genuinely frighting Jason!

In conclusion, a fun, scary, NES gaming classic, but not without it's faults and require patience to get the most out of it.

This game deserves 2 stars if you are playing alone, 3 stars if you're playing with friends. It's online only, the matches last between 10-15mins, and you do the same thing every match. The only fun aspect of it is if you're playing with friends and running from Jason together or if one of you is Jason. At $20 this game would be much easier to digest and would probably score higher. My biggest pet peeve is that this games does NOT have host migration or dedicated servers. Which means if you're playing Jason and you kill the host, they will leave (because they don't want to wait for the game to finish) and the game automatically ends causing you to go back to the title screen. Good

Pretty good and worth a $30 purchase. Graphics are not that great, but to be honest Friday the 13th on all other platforms doesn't look that pretty either. The frame rate is mainly consistent, and for the most part it runs well. There are a lot of bugs with AI, but I own this game on the PS4 and it's riddled with bugs as well. The fire is cool, the offline modes are fun, but wish there could have been more content, but online is fun. I would say raise the brightness when you play, otherwise default settings is a little too dark. Not bad. Not worth $40 considering the same edition is cheaper on other platforms.

At the time of buying this, $40 asking price may be bit steep for most with only a single game mode with 4 maps, one of which released the day the physical copy of the game came out. The only balancing issues that I feel need addressed are Jason's grabs being use-able immediately on teleporting and the counselors break away mechanic pretty well only working if you're the lucky on that got pulled back into the game as Tommy. Connection issues can be a nuisance as well, and high latency in games is regular problem. That said though, when the game hits on all cylinders it is absolutely amazing. Connection issues can be a nuisance as well, and high latency in games is regular problem. That said though, when the game hits on all cylinders it is absolutely amazing. The feeling of dread from the films is captured almost perfectly when you're playing as a counselor. Is Jason waiting outside the cabin you've just searched for the items you need to escape or defend youself? Did he set traps on the doors and windows to prevent your escape? The queues meant to let you know Jason is nearby also increase that tension. Music queues when he's within a certain distance get your heart pounding, and the flash of static when he teleports near you set you frantically spinning your camera. The opposite can be said of Jason; you're a force of nature, an unstoppable killing. You're given the tools to efficiently stalk your prey, but each iteration of Jason feels just different enough to matter. With the roadmap of expected updates published by the developer and the sheet amount of fun and terror this game has, I can wholeheartedly recommend a buy, especially if you're a fan of the films. Hopefully connection issues are addressed as well. There are more maps, counselors, versions of Jason, and some kind of single player experience on the way. I can't wait to see where this game goes.

I really wanted to like this game. I'm a big fan of the movies and from what I heard (and what little I saw) this game is extremely faithful to them (the different versions of Jason and his strengths/weaknesses straight from the movies, etc.). I also watched some videos of people playing and it looked like a lot of fun, which is what really sold me on it.On to the problem, I could barely play the game. Getting a match together took about 10 minutes and half the time it wouldn't load. I play online games a lot and have never had an issue with my connection (100mb+) so I don't see that being a factor. On top of that, the times I could get a match going it was over within a few minutes and was buggy itself. I played around with it for about a week then had enough and traded it in on a promotion and nearly got all my money back. There's just too many good new games out and highly anticipated ones releasing soon to deal with this.On the bright side there's a content release schedule dating into next summer so I might give it another shot around that time and hopefully they'll have the problems fixed by then. I also noticed two updates installed (after the initial install update), so the company is working towards making the game better. From what I've heard it's a very small group of people that made this.

I have heard about the Friday the 13th game since back when it was first announced. When they finally released a Switch version, I had to pick it up.The majority of the game is online. You are strictly stuck with Jason. The development team has stated that getting the AI correct for Jason was impossible and would have made the game feel broken, so they stuck to only giving you control of Jason. However, online is a completely different story! You can join lobbies or get randomly paired into a lobby for a quick match. Only one person will be assigned Jason and the rest are counselors. I honestly don't know who I prefer to play as more online as both Jason and the counselors have their own sets of skills and gameplay styles. As a counselor, you can choose to work together or try to play on your own. There is voice chat so you can talk to others and try to form strategies...sometimes you need to get gas and find the car keys so you can start the car and escape with your friends. You may also choose to radio for the police and try to survive until they arrive. All of these options make the counselor fun and then being hunted by Jason adds terror the entire time...you never know where he will pop up!All in all, I bought this game for $20 and then used a $5 reward, so I ended up paying $15 and feel it's well worth it! If you are on the fence, hold off on a good sale as I think you'll be in for a real treat!

Nothing Unlucky About This Game

Taking your pick from several camp counselors, who possess varying degrees of skill, your task is to defeat Ja-Ja-Ja-Son-Son-Son...not once, but THREE TIMES! (technically, wouldn't that mean you are on the third film installment and the whole game should switch to 3-D?! Oh well.)But if the impossible challenges and repetitive music don't get you, the zombies will (I don't recall that from the film franchise, but that's the least of this game's inaccuracies).Although there are so many strange obstacles that I feel like the game was designed by someone who had never seen the movies, the game can be fun in how absolutely challenging it is to "win" and how you'll make an instant connection to the young counselors of Camp Crystal Lake as you're slowly driven insane by ... MoreTaking your pick from several camp counselors, who possess varying degrees of skill, your task is to defeat Ja-Ja-Ja-Son-Son-Son...not once, but THREE TIMES! I could probably come up a lot of adjectives to describe Friday the 13th, but Ill settle for just one: BROKEN. It is indisputably the most buggy game Ive played in years. Since it was released last year, Gun Media developers have attempted to patch the game with updates addressing an array of game-breaking bugs. Among these include glitches that let players teleport to the rooftops, get pinned underneath piers, and murder your own teammates, the latter which led to widespread griefing. If you play as Jason, expect just as much frustration. In the middle of a match playing as Jason, my buttons completely quit working other than the joystick, so I could only play hide and seek with everyone instead of murder them. When Jason actually does work, chances are good youll kill a counselor and their body will turn into a ragdoll and rocket into the air because their physics engine is a joke. Staying connected to a match is more than a challenge. The servers do not attempt to find another host from the available connections when a host leaves the game (unlike most other multiplayer games). Your game will end abruptly and youll lose all the XP you worked hard to acquire. This happens very, very often. Even without the outstanding bugs, there are some frustrating gameplay mechanics that could be better. Hiding from Jason is useless since he has the ability to see buildings where people are hiding and if it isnt a huge lodge he will easily find you. If its a tent or outhouse then youre screwed. When it works its a fun game that keeps the adrenaline pumping. The developers have promised a single player update later this summer but since its nearly an entire year later Im thinking thats still in alpha (I dont think its ever going to be released). As it stands this is not a $40 title (current price at most retailers) and is probably worth $20 tops. The graphics are not really that good for a game released in 2017. Gun Media has been aware of bounding box glitches for most of the games retail lifespan but as a counselor it is still (as of Feb 2018) possible to climb on top of bookshelves and rafters out of Jasons reach. They seem to fix one thing and break three other things. If you can withstand some occasional frustration, this can be a fun game.

Picked this up a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. I'm not usually one to play online games, but this game has reeled me in with its great take on hide and go seek. The kill animations are wonderful and the tension this game manages to achieve rivals any horror game I've ever played. The ability to sneak up on councillors as Jason and give other players genuine jump-scares is heaps of fun too.As councillors, you have lots of different ways to escape, but killing Jason is always really rewarding; finding all the pieces and pulling it off makes you feel awesome! There are still a lot of bugs in this game, that the devs are slowly working on while also releasing new content, like the long-promised single player mode when players are able to play Jason ... MorePicked this up a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it. However annoying bugs can be, I still keep going back for more!My last point is teamwork, I cannot reiterate this enough, you NEED a mic. There's nothing more infuriating than players who you can't communicate with when setting up methods of escape. You'll have the most fun cooperating with team-mates in F13.Brilliant atmosphere, great kills, teamworkork is key.
