FUJINON MK18-55mm T2.9” achieves high optical performance and low distortion with T2.9 speed across the entire zoom range. With MK50-135mm, it covers standard 18 to 135mm focal length for cinema production. Super 35mm / APS-C sensor compatibility and E-mount dedicated design have led to an ultra-compact & “less than 1kg” lightweight body, and excellent cost performance. It suppresses “focus shift and optical axis shift while zooming” and “Lens breathing”. Also, it features three fully manual lens rings for focus, zoom, and iris with 0.8M gear pitch and a 200° focus rotation angle for sophisticated operability. - Fujifilm Mk18-55mm T2.9 Sony E

Really happy about that. The new grip is the most comfortable I've ever held, the body has enough buttons and they are well positioned for my hands. Heavy zoom lenses like the 16-55 2.8, 50-140 2.8 and 50 1.0 all feel great because of the thick grip. This is a huge win for us pros that shoot all day long. What I find confusing about the camera is the fact that you cannot control ISO from the dials. I personally like having my aperture set on the ring, the ISO in the front dial and shutter speed in the rear dial. This camera only allows you to control either the shutter or aperture from the dials, all the customization you get is which dial controls which of the two. ISO is controlled by a separate button that brings up the ISO menu on screen so selecting the right iso takes too many steps and it makes the camera slow and cumbersome in some situations. Fuji needs to address this. The X-T3 and T4 both allow you to bypass the iso and shutter dials completely and set your iso, aperture and shutter however you like. This $2500 camera should be as customizable as those but it is not. That's a real head scratcher and it goes against the precedent set by older bodies. If Fuji fixes this issue, this camera would be perfect for me.

Early days yet, and Fuji needs to do some obvious firmware updates, but first impressions are mostly good.Like most other Fujifilm users, I dislike the change from separate top dials for shutter speed, etc, to a PASM dial with rotor controlled settings, but not enough to make it a deal-breaker. The fact that custom C1 through C7 settings are no longer easily found through Menu settings is unfortunate, but probably addressable through firmware updates. Plus, adding the C1 through C7 dial settings more than makes up for that failing for me.Feel, quality and handling are otherwise very similar to the X-H1: impeccable. If you are used to using modern Nikon and Canon and Sony cameras, the X-H2s will surprise you with its superior build quality. Only their professional level cameras (at 2 to 4 times the price) compare. (I haven't uses a modern Pentax, so I can't compare there.)The new, even larger and more detailed EVF is stunningly good. The old X-H1 EVR was the best in class when it came out, and the new one is a whole generation better. For me, that is reason enough to put the X-H2s in keeper statusI haven't had a chance to test the improved auto-focus in difficult situations like catching birds in flight.... DSLRs with super-fast focus acquisition like the Nikon D850 and D500 will be difficult to match. The Fujifilm Menu system is, if anything, even worse than ever. They keep adding more items, but never in any logical way. It is a hopelessly confused and baffling maze to negotiate. And Fuji's own free support software is just as bad.Hard to explain why their most expensive X-series camera should come without a printed user guide or a battery charger.... I felt a lot better when they offered a free CFexpress card as a rebate for early purchasers, however. This is a good camera to try out the newer XF lenses. Yes the old 16mm f/1.4 is still a fabulous lens, but the new 18mm f/1.4 is even sharper! And the new 33mm f/1.4 is at a whole other level of image quality compared to the old 35mm f/1.4: super sharp versus beautiful soul. But the upcoming 40 megapixel X-H2 may be an even better (and $500 cheaper) choice for still photography that is not speed-oriented like sports and birds. As for video, I confess I don't use it, and a lot of the X-H2s' capabilities are wasted on me. Even for those who won't being using its hybrid abilities, I rate the Fujifilm X-H2s as a superior camera. Early days though....

Canon will be used for photos for my corporate work, and any job with stuffy art directors who only understand full-frame.Things that need fixed without question: The fact that I can't use the the back dial for ISO is maddening. Why the eff would fuji have an aperture ring on every lens, and then not let me access all of the exposure triangle on first level controls? We have the technology. Canon does it beautifully. I did it with the x-t4 and it just makes sense. Everything else can be customized 100 ways. Fix this Fuji, and maybe demote the guy who thought this was a good idea.Overall, minus the previous complaints, this camera makes me want to shoot. Considering my workload right now, that's a feat, and a testament to the Fuji spirit, even if some of the implementation can represent them better than it currently is.

Great Hybrid Camera but missing video features
9 November 2022

First time Fuji user, I'm loving the photos coming from this camera. They really pop and I can see why there's so much hype around fuji colors. The only gripe I have is mostly on the video side. I wish the camera had a waveform, automated focus stacking, false color, and ability to live view your own luts - things you can do on a cheaper gh6. It's not the biggest deal but it certainly keeps this thing from being a video powerhouse. You would need an external monitor if you want consistent/professional results(which goes without saying for most cameras of this size) - or be really good at reading a histogram (the only helpful exposure assist tool for video this camera has).Dynamic range is pretty amazing too and the look you can achieve can be quite filmic. 4k 120 ... MoreFirst time Fuji user, I'm loving the photos coming from this camera. Click on a person or object and have the auto focus track it.If it did all of these things, this camera could truly shake up the market. I heard Fuji sends out firmware pretty routinely but I have a feeling these features might be too big to release for firmware releases. I'm sure they'll wait to include it in an x-h3s or something. Oh well..

Huge step up from the X-T4
1 August 2022

I've had the X-H2s since release and it's blown me away in several departments. First of all, the autofocus has been improved tremendously over the X-T4. I have been able to rely on it shooting a variety of subjects in motion. Secondly, the new video features are amazing. ProRes internal recording, F-log2's 14 stops of dynamic range, plus the ability to record open gate 6.2k, these have been game changers for me. As an added bonus, I have not experienced overheating while recording (I haven't used 120FPS). Third, the ergonomics of this camera are great, I love the button layout and controls. The 7 custom modes might seem like overkill, but I've programmed them all. The build quality is excellent, I have no doubts that it will survive in the long haul. My X-T4 will be relegated to B camera. I can't wait to see some of these features trickle down to the future X-T5.

It's a beast - comparison against Canon

I love that I can confidently take this camera into any situation and get workable files out of it for both photo and video. As a photo camera it's great. Compared to my R5 system, the autofocus is 75 percent of the way there, but I enjoy using it more, and I enjoy the work I make with it more. File quality is more than enough if the subject is worth photographing, except for maybe product photography, and really the limitations are more in the lens world, since this system has lenses from nearly 10 years ago. Pick the lenses carefully to tell the story you want to tell, and the camera can do it.For video, it blows canon away in my opinion. Good battery life, fantastic dynamic range. No overheating that I've experienced, and I've done 90 min takes on one battery. This camera makes it fun again. Canon is more perfect, but honestly It's almost boring in its perfection. I find myself looking for different photos with Fuji, and pushing a camera to the limits gets me different results. With that in mind, I love pushing this camera to its limits. It's capable in all the ways I need it to be and it makes me work for things I want to work for.So I have a full Canon system and a full fuji system now. Which one do I reach for? 10 percent of the time it's Canon (and that's for agency jobs where people are snobs about expensive looking systems to justify their investment, or sometimes for situations where I will absolutely not get a second chance, like weddings for other people who prefer nailing it over personality.) 90 percent of the time it's Fujifilm. If I could only shoot the things that I want to shoot, it would be Fujifilm 100 percent of the time.

I specifically noted that sensor cleaning didn't resolve the issue, yet they just cleaned the sensor, didn't even bother to inspect that the sensor was free of artifacts, and shipped it back. Now, I have to send it back again at the cost of many more weeks of time. The performance of this camera is amazing, yet the sensor defect and this ridiculous repair experience destroyed any love I had for the X-H2s, the X system and the Fujifilm brand. I will probably sell this after the warranty expires (as I had to register it, and the warranty is nontransferable...) and never get a Fujifilm again. I suggest anyone do the same.

The best camera I have owned!
2 March 2023

I had decided to switch from my Sony a6300, and I needed a camera that was great at both video and photography. I was particularly tired of the rolling shutter artifacts in the a6300 which are close to worst in the industry. Also, the Sony colors just feel cold and clinical to me. Not bad, but extremely boring. As a filmmaker, I am not on the full frame band wagon, though as a photographer, that would be nice. I considered APS-C and FF cameras of multiple brands (including Sony), and even toyed with the idea of the MFT GH6.After much research, Fuji X-H2S fills the role I needed perfectly. The resolution on this camera is not much greater than what I was already using, but I never felt I needed bigger, so I am not missing the 40mpx of the X-H2. But what I am ... MoreI had decided to switch from my Sony a6300, and I needed a camera that was great at both video and photography. The resolution on this camera is not much greater than what I was already using, but I never felt I needed bigger, so I am not missing the 40mpx of the X-H2. But what I am gaining is a super fast sensor with negligible rolling shutter, F-Log2 gamma for 14 stops of dynamic range, and those beautiful Fuji colors! Also internal ProRes in three flavors (LT, 422, and HQ), with data rates up to 750mbps.Photos and video from this camera look great. Definitely a pleasure to edit and grade after using the clinical S-Log2. More on par with grading BRAW or V-Log (both of which I have used extensively), but with a bit of extra sauce, if you will. The Fuji X-Trans RAW requires a bit of extra care, as Lightroom does not interpret it as well as it could. Capture One seems better, but probably the best result can be had through DxO PureRaw2 plugged into Lightroom. It is a little extra work, but then again, the Fuji also generates gorgeous JPG images with its built in film sims, so RAW editing is not needed as often. The film sims are fully customizable, and you can find hundreds of recipes out there to give you almost any look that you could want. I only jump into the RAW when need the most granular control. In low light, the noise pattern is pleasing, compared to Sony or Nikon. The maximum ISO 12800 is perfectly useable with Neat Video or even Resolve Studio's built in NR applied. 6K open gate is beautiful. 4K is perfect up to 120fps (120p has a crop, but is sharp and looks great).Unfortunately, the HD 240p is unusably bad (awful stair-step aliasing) for anything more than a curiosity. Hopefully this can be fixed in firmware, but if not, I don't consider it a huge loss.Coming from Sony APS-C, I found the interface easy to get used to. The AF system more than adequate, if not amazing (better than the a6300). I tend to manual focus a lot anyway. The X-mount ecosystem is not as well supported as the Sony E-mount, so that is a consideration. But I looked at the lens options and decided there was enough available to suit my needs. There are also options (Fringer or Fotodiox) to convert EF lenses with full AF capability, so that expands the offerings quite a bit.All taken together, if you need a camera that does both video and photography well, you cannot go wrong with this camera.

The perfect hybrid camera!
2 December 2022

The Fujifilm X-H2S in my opinion is the perfect hybrid camera.Fujifilm has made really thoughtful decisions on the design of this camera. They have gone with a stacked sensor and the same resolution as the previous generation. The stacked sensor means a very fast sensor readout, making this a great camera for silent shooting, sports and video.Keeping the resolution at 26MP reduces the possibility of noise creeping up associated with fast sensor. So a fantastic compromise, that doesn't bow down to marketing. We as photographers are better for that. This is an excellent camera for both photographers and videographers!A quick background:I am a Sony full frame photographer that has been using every version of the A7R series. I currently have the A7R IV.I did have the Fujifilm X-H1, but regretfully sold it a couple of months ago to focus on one system.I was on vacation in Europe when the Fujifilm X-H2S was announced, so I really did not get the time to follow the release. On getting back and curating some of the pictures from my vacation, I realized some of my favorite photographs were from the X-H1.This led me to take a second look at the X-H2S. This camera is exactly the balance that I was looking for and the bonus is the excellent Fujifilm "film" simulations. The picture look great straight out of the camera. The Eterna video profile also really reduces the need to process video on the computer. It just looks great. The high speed readout of the sensor makes silent shooting practical and videos looking great. This is not just a great sports and video camera, but a great all around camera.I think it is worth the asking price over competitors at the same level, even full frame ones. It's been a week since I purchased and will update this review as I gain more experience with it.I am tempted to get another body in the near future. It's that good.Highly recommended!

WOW! Very impressed!
20 July 2022

I shoot a lot of video and a very little of anything else. Normally, I use a Canon C200 for the talking head videos, recorded through an Atomos--so it's all in pro res. Works well, except for the Canon and image. I have to work with it a lot to get the image right.Today I also tested the XH2s using a Fringer adapter and using a Canon EF 50mm 1.4. Everything worked great--with no need to do a firmware update on the Fringer. The eye AF was spot on, no hunting, and the Astia film simulation looked a LOT better than the Canon, skin tones were perfect, out of the camera, worked great first time, with only very minor adjustments in exposure.I ended up shooting the test video with a Viltrox 56mm1.4, which was flawless. Skin tones looked wonderful and super flattering ... MoreI shoot a lot of video and a very little of anything else. Skin tones looked wonderful and super flattering for an old guy like me. Better than the Canon C200, for sure.Image was so good for me, hardly any post processing needed, a big time saver, especially recorded internally in Pro Res.Audio was super clean with good color and tonal depth using my Rode remote audio set up. Very impressed with the clarity of the audio internals and low noise floor.I think I might be able to sell my C200...and buy a second XH2s. I don't know about how this camera works for photography (and don't really care) but it's rock solid for talking head video and hand held video. I use a lot of bird AF, since we own a parrot, and it works like a charm--even with the parrot constantly on the move.VERY impressed with this camera. The best I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of them. Much better than the XT4---and it was very, very good (for video).Fuji knocked it out of the park with this one. And it's only going to get better. Great camera, great company!!!
