Perfect fit & well built
Love the grip - honestly, it's definitely not worth $399 but it is well-built, well-put together, and well-designed. I wish Fujifilm would get realistic with the pricing and make it $299 or $329 at most, but it is what it is. There is a cool spot under the battery compartment to put the plastic panel that goes on the camera body. I wish it had its own external charger like the X-T3 but if you use a USB-C PD it can charge all 3 batteries in 300 minutes.
I purchased this Vertical Battery Grip for my X-H2 not so much for extended battery use, but rather for the convenience of when I shoot vertical. Due to a few issues with my wrist and fingers, it was a bit difficult to reach over the top side of the camera to reach the shutter button. This grip makes it very easy. First of all, the noticeable difference between this and the vertical grips for my X-Tx cameras is the 'heft' of the grip .. it is really solid and well built. When attached with the 50-140 or 100-400, the grip really makes it a well-balanced combo. It has all the required buttons (Fn1, ISO, WB) as well as other easily accessed control buttons. (I remapped the WB button for Image Stabilization on/off) and FN1 to face/eye detect. When using other lenses on ... Great product. I like the knurled dial to help tighten grip. It?s must have for anyone using the X-H2s or X-H2 (which I have), even with the bulkier grip of the X-H series. Yes, it adds bulk, but if you?re already getting the X-H2, you?re not getting the camera for the smaller size.
This grip is the reason to buy the X-H2 over the X-T5! Fit and feel are excellent. If you shoot in portrait orientation a lot.........get it! Putting aside the extra battery power for the 8K footage.
