X-Trans CMOS III Sensor The FUJIFILM X-H1 features the 24.3MP APS-C sensor “X-Trans CMOS III”, which delivers images with enriched depth. The use of aperiodic color filter array minimizes moiré and false colors even without an optical low-pass filter. When combined with XF lenses, specifically designed for this series of cameras, the sensor achieves outstanding descriptive performance. X-Processor Pro The “X-Processor Pro” is a processing engine that draws out the maximum capability of the “X-Trans CMOS III” high-performance sensor. Its use of large built-in memory and advanced processing power boost the camera’s speed and precision performance in interval shooting, shutter release time lag, AF, continuous shooting, live view display, etc. The processor also supports the Boost Mode for the vertical power booster grip, VPB-XH1, enhancing the camera’s performance to another level. Autofocus The FUJIFILM X-H1 boasts autofocus performance with enhanced capability to track a moving subject. With 91 focus points (up to 325 points), the camera has a phase detection AF area that covers 50% (side to side) and 75% (top to bottom) of the frame to achieve fast and accurate autofocus. The phase detection’s AF range has been expanded by 1.5 stops from the previous 0.5EV to -1EV, while the minimum aperture requirement is also improved from F8 to F11. Enhanced AF-C performance during zooming means the camera can handle sports with erratic subject movements, and capture a subject with fine textures such as a distant animal, with an advanced level of precision. AF-C Custom Setting The FUJIFILM X-H1 offers three user-adjustable parameters for determining focusing characteristics to make it easier to accurately track a moving subject in the AF-C Mode. There are presets to suit different types of scenes, or you can determine your own custom setting.

I purchased my X-H1 during Adorama's great Holiday promotion, and I'll tell you why. I was an X-T2 shooter (X-T1 before that) and I often shoot with one of Fuji's big zooms. Even though I carry by the tripod foot on the lens, and support it when shooting, I would see lens mount loosening on the X-T2. Also, the X-T2 grip didn't fill my hand properly, even with the battery grip. I occasionally used Fujis grip/plate accessory but then you can't use the battery grip. After 2 years of using the X-T2, and thinking about the stronger design of the X-H1 over the past many months, I've decided that for those of us shooting heavy zooms, the build of the X-H1 is much more suitable. After 2 years of using the X-T2, and thinking about the stronger design of the X-H1 over the past many months, I've decided that for those of us shooting heavy zooms, the build of the X-H1 is much more suitable. It is stronger, and with the nice grip, provides much more secure and balanced handling. I believe the X-T2, T3, and other similar bodies are better suited for lighter, shorter zooms and primes. They are all excellent, and I loved the T2. I also have an X-T10 with the grip plate/grip accessory and just love that little shooter. The soft shutter release of X-H1 is taking some getting used to, of course, but I like it, and I think it helps. Reminds me of shooting a sniper rifle with a set trigger. I've been shooting hand held with primes at night, at ISO 200, at 1/1.1 with beautiful shot results thanks to IBIS and my steady handling. The weather sealing improvements were another factor, as I live in the PNW of the USA. The battery life has been an issue for some, but honestly, I alway carry spare batteries, and the way I set it up and use it, is designed to conserve battery. Given the size of the batteries, carrying spares is a piece of cake. I think many of the few negatives reviewers hit the X-H1 with early on were dealt a deadly blow by Fuji's firmware updates, especially as it relates to IBIS and autofocus. Which is why I am quite discerning about reviews. There will always be new cameras and new features on the horizon, but the camera is a tool, and one that should work well in "your" hands, and with the lens systems you usually use. The X-H1 provides for great integrity of build that can handle all the Fuji lens, big and small, in any weather, and with secure handling that lets the photographer focus on their passion with ergonomic ease. I use the X-H1 battery grip, and like it much better than the X-T2 grip. I love that the X-H1 doesn't require me to use the grip to have a secure grip in my hand.

I rented this Camera for a trip to Chicago while I was waiting for the a7iii to be released. I immediately loved the camera, the feel of it, the incredibly smooth silent shutter, The gorgeous EVF, and most importantly those wonderful Fuji colors. Upon getting home the a7iii arrived and right away I was a little unsure about it in comparison. It didn't help matters that initially I was using the 28-70 kit lens which was just disappointing. Sure that I had to be crazy I rented the 24-105 g lens because the one I ordered had been delayed ( which apparently it still is). This produced much, much better results, but still I felt something was missing. The Sony beats the Fuji on the spec sheet in just about every way and I created great images on it, but still the Fuji ... MoreI rented this Camera for a trip to Chicago while I was waiting for the a7iii to be released. Other than the battery life I just love the Fuji, and the issue is a relatively small one if you don't mind buying extra batteries. Needless to say I returned the Sony and ordered the Fuji... and a couple of extra batteries!!The 4k video on this is wonderful and it is great as an all in one camera, but if video is what you plan on doing primarily I would steer you to another camera, The Panasonic GH5 is great as a pure video camera or perhaps even the Sony if you are doing more video than photo but still need both. The best way to describe the Fuji is that it is like the Apple computers of the Camera world. You overpay and sometimes have less features for that money, but everything about it is, high quality, ,aesthetically pleasing, easy to use, well thought out, fun, and inspiring. if you want some examples of both cameras you can look at my photos here. https://www.instagram.com/jgphoto75/ . Coming from, and greatly enjoying the X-T2, I thought the X-T3 would be my next acquisition particularly to replace my Nikon D750 that I use for sports. So the X-H1 felt bulky, the X-T3 was felt like an improved X-T2 but not earth shattering. I decided to wait a little and thought about my needs. In reality, I shoot more in relatively low light or less than ideal light for a lens like the XF 90mm. Yes, I have remote flashes, etc. but that takes time to set up. Stabilization seemed like the key feature and with the incredible deal that is running for the X-H1 kit, I decided to go for that. The more I use the X-H1 the more I am impressed with it. It has grown more and more comfortable, especially when holding the camera for long periods or with larger lens. The IBIS is fantastic. It truly is a game changer. I believe the AF is slightly better than the X-T2. The build quality is noticeable and to me, it seems like a good step above the X-T2 and the X-T3. The buttons and knobs are noticeably better, the body and seals appear significantly better. For Fujifilm APS-C, the X-H1 is about as professional as you're going to get.If it is not evident, I really, really love this camera. My poor X-T2 has been sitting with its lens cap on!

I have had this camera three or four weeks now and am just getting used to the different feel and heft of this entirely new Fujifilm camera. Note that I predominantly take still photos, so the video improvements, though welcome, are not critical to me. I buy these Fuji cameras (xT2 and X100F, as well) partly because of their beautiful design and their wonderful ergonomics, partly because of their incredible image quality, and partly because of the incredible lenses that Fujinon manufacturers. I really feel this camera delivers in all of these areas, and plus has excellent autofocus, in body image stabilization (important for me and for my beloved xf-16-55mm lens). It also has a larger and brighter evf, which my eyes really love. Do I mind the extra size and weight ... MoreI have had this camera three or four weeks now and am just getting used to the different feel and heft of this entirely new Fujifilm camera. It also has a larger and brighter evf, which my eyes really love. Do I mind the extra size and weight of the camera? No, not really - my hands are large and it feels comfortable. It is still much smaller than most dslrs. Do I mind the shorter battery life? No, not really - it is easy to carry several. With the ibis, larger evf, and larger sensor, I expected the battery life to be somewhat shorter. I just carry a few extra batteries. Do I mind Fuji moving the exposure compensation dial to a button and back command dial? No, it is easy to adjust to. Do I like the general organization of the menu structure? Yes, it is clear and easy to figure out. And it has remained constant over many cameras, thankfully. Do I mind that it is not a full frame sensor? No, it is a stupendous sensor! if you can't take an excellent photograph with this camera, then your photography issues do not lie within the realm of the camera body. Changes will come, as will firmware updates, and the camera will be better than it already is. I feel lucky to have such a wonderful instrument of photography at my fingertips.

Fujifilm X-H1, a camera you can count on.
11 November 2022

The Fujifilm X-H1 is a high quality photographic tool. Since I am a working pro I need a camera with the quality and control that this camera provides. The extra wide angle lens is great for architectural interiors where the rooms might be on the small side. The perspective is great to make these rooms look larger and more inviting.

Most underrated camera in 2019! But it is actually the best camera in value!
15 October 2019

X-H1 is the most underated camera in 2019. Fujifilm's stupidity made this camera not worth of money. This camera has great sensor with decent amount of dynamic range and resolution. Great color for picture and video. I think this is the most powerful feature of Fujifilm camera because it reduces tons of time on post editting(if you like the color). IBIS is awsome, it can be compete with Panasonic and works perfectly in hand-held video as well. Downside is that the Fujifilm is no longer supporting this camera with their newly updated firmware(which include much improved Eye af and new filmsimulation) the other downside is that it had poor battery life. Now it includes battery grip with two extra batteries but 3 batteries are not enough to hold for a day job. Beside ... MoreX-H1 is the most underated camera in 2019. If you want to purchase this camera I highly recommend buy in a bundle with xf 16-55 and 90 lens.

CONS - (1) Limited Battery Life (always take a spare) (2) Placement of rear "Q" button could be better to avoid accidental operation. PROS - really too many to list! (1) Except for aforementioned poor placement of "Q" button - ergonomics best of "X" series for larger hand users and those wishing to use longer focal length lenses and heavier zooms. (2) The in camera stabilisation is really effective for "primes" and manually focussing older lenses. (3) In real life, Autofocus as good as later X-T3 & X-T4, and Manual focussing aids similar to both later cameras. (4) If you're able to determine any significant improvement of image quality from viewing 8x10 photographs taken with the aforementioned later sensor cameras over this X-H1 - that would be surprising. SUMMARY - I'm not a video recorder, so my comments only relate to still photography. Over recent years I've migrated from Nikon Full frame D3/800 to Fujifilm system and have found all Fuji X gear excellent, including X-Pro2/X-T1, 3 & 4. In addition to the X-H1 I've retained my first Fuji X camera, X-Pro1, which I've now had for nearly 10years and which has never let me down - and the free soft ware updates have always improved the cameras. Over 50 years of photography of all sorts including in the past some professional assignments, the X-H1 must rank as one of the best overall performing cameras I've owned!

Before I switched from Canon DSLR to the Olympus, I was also contemplating going with the Fujifilm system. I decided to go with Olympus but always looking back at what Fujifilm was doing. I love my Olympus system and would never leave shooting with that system. But when I saw this fabulous deal on the Fujifilm X-H1 I did not hesitate to buy into the Fuji family. The menu is not that hard to get use to, the IBIS is magnificent and I have always had an admiration for that 16-55 f/2.8. The added grip, card, batteries and camera bag is just an added plus. The battery life is a little less than what I experience with Olympus, but getting three batteries with this kit is not a problem. The eyecup is one of the best I have ever had on a camera. The build quality is tremendous, this camera is built like a tank. Only having owned it a couple of weeks I am overjoyed with what I have seen this from this camera. I always wanted to try the fujifilm system and at this price point I could not resist. I am going to work with two camera systems and will be happy doing so! I know own a 4/3 system and an APS system, both will serve me well.

The image stabilization is extremely nice

I love the X-H1! I realize that it may not be viewed as perfect by some regards to some issues such as it's size but in my view, it is very close to perfect. I am comparing this to the X-T2 below and not other brands of cameras so I am not including detais of the Fuji line of cameras such as the amazing lenses and wonderful color straight out of the camera. Here are the main benefits and deficiencies in my views though.+ The internal stabilization is amazing! I use this camera all the times with my prime lenses. It really does give you an extra 5 stops quite easily! I love shooting with the primes and being able to gain that versatility in using them is wonderful. I have taken hand held shots of sunsets with the ISO at 200 which are awesome! I never thought I would ... MoreI love the X-H1! It really does give you an extra 5 stops quite easily! I love shooting with the primes and being able to gain that versatility in using them is wonderful. I have taken hand held shots of sunsets with the ISO at 200 which are awesome! I never thought I would get that opportunity.+ The new shutter button is perfect! I never thought that the button would really matter to me and was worried about the sensitivity when I read some other reviews. However, it only took a couple hours of playing with the camera to get used to the new sensitivity and I LOVE it. It is really perfect and is just the right sensitivity to allow awesome control while minimizing camera motion when pressing. I hope that they use this new button in all of the rest of their cameras as it is wonderful!+ I have never concentrated on the video aspect but I do use it for events at times so I am not an expert on the video scale. However, after I reviewed the first few videos I took, I could see an immediate advantage. I really thought that the video's looked like they were shot on a professional camera. When you can get the narrow depth of field obtained with the prime lenses along with the stability and the film color of Fuji, the videos look amazing!+ The focusing performance I feel is definitely improved over the X-T2, especially in low light. I was very pleased with the percentage of perfectly focused photos I got when shooting action scenes. I also tried shooting into the evening and was very surprised how good the the results came out.+ The design for how it fits into my hand is perfect! It fits just how I like it and it never feels like it could slip. It may be a bit heavier than the X-T2 but it is still much lighter than what my Nikon was when you take in the lens weight.+ All the usual bonuses of the X-T2, like the awesome pictures straight out of the camera, wonderful controls, amazing lenses, etc. There is nothing that comes absolutely perfect and so there are still some issues that I have which are:- My biggest issue is with the eye cup! It easily dislodges and this can be very annoying! When just carrying it around , I had the eye cup become dislodged and that is very troubling because it would be very easy to lose it. I do not understand how this was missed.- The camera complains whenever you turn it on and it has a non-s style battery. I recently purchased an off-label battery that claims that it has the S design and I still get that message.- Not a big deal, but the battery life is not wonderful. It is not a big pain but improvement would be nice.I saw where some people did not like having the compensation dial on it but I just assigned that to the front dial and have had no issue with using it in that manner. I actually think I like the upper display better.
