The Fuji X-Pro 1 has become my 'go to camera' for day to day personal shooting. I've not yet unleashed it on a professional job yet, but the only thing that is stopping me from doing just that is my limited range of lenses (just 2 primes - 18mm and 35mm). It can do snaps, but hone your technique, choose your settings wisely and boy, does it deliver! It's in built jpeg processing is very good indeed, but old habits do keep me to shooting both RAW and jpeg and processing the Raw's in Capture One Pro. Haven't really found a real weak spot yet. OK the focussing is a bit sluggish at times, but you can easily get over that by going manual, which is really easy to use and the Exposure Compensation dial is a little too easy to move, but again, when you are aware, you automatically check and to be honest the rare occasion I didn't immediately notice it had moved, the RAW files hold so much detail, it wasn't an issue!If you are used to lugging about kilo's of kit but think you won't get acceptable results from a little camera, you need to check the Fuji's out! They are very good indeed.

I purchased this several years ago new from Adorama, and kept it for about two years. It is a beautiful camera with a unique shooting experience. The 16mp X-trans sensor renders lovely images. I found it to be extremely solid and durable despite it's light weight. I actually dropped it twice onto concrete from about 2 and 2.5 meters and it only produced a minor scratch on the bottom corner. The hybrid viewfinder is very bright and large and a marvel of engineering. I eventually sold it only to downsize to one system shared with my wife, our Nikon DSLRs. I only gave it one star less than a perfect five for one annoyance, that the effective or apparent viewfinder focal distance was different between the optical and electronic viewfinders. This is a great camera now at a very good price. This example arrived in very good condition and quickly. I'm a Canon man, so I now need to learn and use the fuji x system, but my first examples are good, and image quality is super. This is a poor man's Lieca rangefinder, and in many ways a better camera, i.e. fuji tenges are superb, I recommend tha f2.0 50mm for starters on this body. It focuses very quickly. I love the silence of this camera, the size in my hands, and the feel of a rangefinder with modern digital capacity. Now, all I need to do is learn it and us it. It's a great value for someone wanting to get into the rangefinder either for street shooting or quiet portraiture.

Of course, film was no longer an ideal medium for me and I toyed with the next best format, the M4/3 Lumix series of GX and GF cameras. My brother bought a "walk around camera", the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and he let me use it one night and I was blown away. This camera came so close to my expectations of an M series camera but better! This camera permits me to use my legacy lenses such as my 28mm Elmarit, 50mm Summicron, etc. I was also intrigued with Minolta Rokkor lenses, Fujinar lenses, Takumar lenses, etc. I shoot mostly legacy lenses and am quite happy with the results. Great mirrorless camera for the "serious" photographer. If you know about shutter speeds and apertures then you are fine - no all singing and dancing modes. Great image quality, although only 16mp, because of the sensor design (no AA filter and different colour filter arrangement) the images will give the latest cameras a run for their money. The Fujifilm lenses are excellent but is also great for use with legacy, manual focus, lenses. I use Leica M mount Voigtlander lenses and the images are as good as my M9. If you are looking for a camera that you can pick up and use - forget it. I am quite an experienced photographer but sill had to read the manual to get the most out of it. If used correctly it can produce amazing images, but you need to know what you are doing.
Old hat now, but a great secondhand buy. A few minor niggles which have been addressed on later models. The exposure compensation dial is easily moved. You have to unscrew a quick release tripod plate to take the battery out. The EVF is a bit rubbish for focussing lenses manually in my own experience. When the batteries lose power ....they do it all of a sudden rather than gradually! BUT it's a great little camera. Better white balance than my Nikon DSLR's, a nice pixel 'grain' at high iso and good high iso performance. Lovely to use. It's NOT a Leica but then it doesn't cost silly money and the choice of lenses is outstanding. You can even get an adapter for DSLR lenses like my Nikon lenses- and the results are excellent.

Super easy to pick up and use and learn. The menus are set up to flow so well! Plus not only does Fujifilm have some really amazing glass but you can use virtually any lens on this thing. Plus I fell in love with the perfect combination of old school and new. I love all the old film cameras and rangefinders but I'm just not a huge fan of film. One thing I can think of that does kinda suck about the X-pro 1 is if you're looking to do something like long exposure shots it's gonna be a lot harder. You can't get a remote shutter control for it. You have to buy an old ... Example I wear sweatpants a lot(I'm lazy and like being comfortable) and it'll fit right in there. Once I bought the 27mm I pretty much don't leave my house without the X-pro 1 just in case.
