Aperture ring with F-stop scale and A-Position lock The Fujifilm XF 27mm f/2.8 features an aperture ring with an F-stop scale, so that you can visually check and adjust your aperture settings without needing to look at the camera’s screen or through ithe viewfinder. The aperture ring also features the A (Auto) Position Lock, which locks the lens into the A-Position to prevent unintentional adjustments to the lens’s aperture while it is being used. Weather-resistant construction Weather-Resistance has been applied at seven locations on the lens to protect against water and dust and allow it to fully operate in temperatures down to -10°C (14°F). Lens hood included In addition to the standard lens cap, the lens comes with a dome-shaped lens hood (LH-XF27) and a hood cap (LHCP-27) to provide options to protect the lens, and accommodate users that prefer using low-profile hoods over lens caps because of their convenience. Thin and lightweight design combined with advanced image quality Despite its compact size, the Fujifilm XF 27mm f/2.8 R WR Lens consists of seven lens elements in five groups, including one aspherical element, which mitigates spherical aberration, field curvature, and distortion. This allows the lens to deliver advanced image resolution, even when it is used at its widest apertures. The lens also features a high-torque DC motor to enable fast and accurate AF, while the front lens group of five lens elements effectively maintains image quality by minimizing aberrations that may occur when the lens is used for close-ups or with subjects that are further away. All of these features are packed into this lens - one of the thinnest and lightest in the Fujifilm XF collection. It measures 62mm in diameter and just 23mm long, and weighs 84g.

I bought this lens because of its small form factor and a focal range good for street photography. In terms of form factor, this lens is very discrete, nobody bats an eye when I'm taking pictures in public, or even in private events. The focal range is just right, it's an all around focal range in my opinion. The 2.8 aperture is not as wide as I would like it to be, but it's a good enough sacrifice to get the small form factor, and besides, I always shoot at 5.6 or above in outdoors anyways. The image quality is excellent and is on par to its other more expensive Fuji lens brothers. Putting the image from this lens side by side with the 35mm at F2.8 makes it hard to tell which image came from which lens. The only flaw I see from this lens is the loud noisy ... MoreI bought this lens because of its small form factor and a focal range good for street photography. It does focus well and fast, but it is loud. If you're planning to use this for video, you'll be disappointed as the noise from the lens can ruin the audio.

I got the lens purely for its size to make my kit even more portable for every day use. And it works. When coupled with my XT-30ii I can now take it everywhere with me.The quality is very good as well. Auto-focus works fine and the lens is pretty sharp. The focal length might be something to get used to but... why not?I would not recommend for video since auto-focus motor is on rather louder side and no OIS of course for video. Also do not expect a mind blowing bokeh. It's simply not a tool for that.So far I love it and it makes me carry my camera with me more often.

This takes up no room and gives perfectly acceptable image quality, so I can't really justify not having it given that I'd already set aside the $ (and waited over 6 months!). Focusing isn't super fast, isn't super quiet, and not great close focus. Performance really doesn't compare to the 35mm/f2 for example so don't expect it to. I guess I was expecting a Mk II version to be a little better than this. And not really used to external focusing (front element dancing while you focus) but I guess all of these things are the trade-offs for a pancake. What do I like then? The focal length is actually really nice, like a 35mm that's more useful in more crowded areas (like around a dinner table). Haven't gotten to travel with it yet but this will always go along, for ... MoreThis takes up no room and gives perfectly acceptable image quality, so I can't really justify not having it given that I'd already set aside the $ (and waited over 6 months!). Haven't gotten to travel with it yet but this will always go along, for when I want a more point-and-shoot aesthetic without creeping out acquaintances. And I could actually imagine just carrying this on an XT3 in a (large) coat pocket! One final gripe, I wish they'd made the lens cap that fits over the hood a nice lined metal affair like the one that comes with the X100V. The cheap flimsy plastic piece will break within a couple of months. For a $400 lens with the same internals as its predecessor they could have given us that...

I’m a commercial photographer and on certain shoot days I lean towards a very specific focal length. On those days, I want to keep my bag light and setup as minimal as possible. Since receiving this lens, I have been able to do just that. I enjoy not having to choose between a 23mm or a 33mm. It’s not exactly in the middle of the two, but it’s perfect for me. The other plus is that it’s also small and versatile enough for a daily carry lens for going about my day. I was very skeptical about purchasing this and worried it would just be another return I would have to make after 1 use, but I find myself reaching for it often. For reference, my workhorse is the 16-55mm so obviously a big difference. I personally don’t notice a huge quality difference just looking with my eyes (unless I pixel peep,) but I shoot at 5.6+ so it looks fine to me. For anyone on the fence about this lens, give the little one a chance. Fujifilm’s lenses are really great quality. Don’t let the price tag leave you thinking it’s not great compared to the $$$$ ones.
So in the FX world this is a 40mm f4. The 40mm part is great, the f4 ho hum. But it is small, light, sharp in the center wide open, ok in the corners, has reasonably fast focus and no significant distortion. Did I mention small & light? Other lenses will out perform this if you're into 100% crops but for real world just enjoy it. Probably not ideal for video. Hard to beat any E series body with this lens for travel, take anywhere, etc. Aperture ring is a nice touch. weather sealing always appreciated.
I hoped I would like this lens better. I dreamt of a lovely world where I could slap this tiny little lens on my X-T4 and travel the world taking gorgeous candids with a lovely camera-lens combo. Unfortunately, I don't think this lens was quite worth the price-tag for me, as it has seemed to be more of a fun toy rather than an essential tool that I've totally fallen for. Maybe I should have known this, considering that is what pancake lenses are typically, but I am an idealist, and I dreamt of the simple pancake life.Price:For $200 this would be a must buy, for $300 I would heavily consider it, For $400 if you had the means and needed something small, I would recommend it, but for nearly $500 I am a little disappointed.Cons:It focuses all externally - not ... MoreI hoped I would like this lens better. It is also not the best auto-focusing lens. I have had trouble getting it to focus on anything at all on the street at night, even with my rather 'premium' X-T4.If you are not too worried about either of the above, and you really like the idea of a pocketable camera, I genuinely think this lens would be great. As the kit lens for the new X-E4 this makes total sense. It only adds $200 onto the cost of the camera, and is equally 'cutely' sized, but as a standalone purchase with something bigger and more like my X-T4, personally, I feel I would have preferred the little wider 23mm f/2 or 1.4, or the little tighter 35mm f/2 or 1.4.Image:I have nothing to complain about as far as image quality is concerned. It is perfectly capable of getting the most out of fuji's 26mp sensors. The images are lovely, just with my X-T4, I can't help but feel that a larger lens without the noted annoyances would have given me a bit better shooting experience. So I'll summarize. If you REALLY want a pancake, this is obviously the lens for you. If you think you MIGHT want a pancake, and you already have one of the bigger Fuji X's, maybe you'd be better off with one of the small f/2 lenses.
I use two camera systems and own a lot of prime lenses for both systems. I prize lightweight cameras and lenses and generally prefer primes because I do not like to lug around heavy zoom lenses. I bought this lens precisely for that reason. It's light and my test shots so far have revealed that the Fujifilm 27 mm is sharp wide open at f/2.8 and maintains that sharpness through the rest of its f/stops. Essentially, this lens is sharp enough to get the picture, that is, good enough to elicit an emotional reaction from a client. The chromatics are also faithful to what I am seeing in front of my camera and over the years I have come to appreciate the 40 to 41 mm angle of view. Consequently, I have a very light and effective camera and lens combination for a full day's shooting.

I'm a hobbyist that values practicality, so this is what my review is aimed at.I have a few other X-mount lenses that I use with my XPro3, but this is the lens that I absolutely adore. The focal length sits somewhere in the middle, so it gives you the opportunity to take a nice landscape shot, but still be able to get in closer and take some nice shots on the street. The aperture range fits my needs to take a variety of photo types, with the f/2.8 specifically delivering a pleasant bokeh. There should be more love for this little gem. 27mm is wide enough that a few steps farther back it will substitute for a 23mm; at worst, take a few portrait-oriented photos and stitch panorama in post. 27mm is also standard enough that with slight crop it can substitute for a 35mm. It's small, and my copy at least is incredibly sharp. What I use it for: I put this on my X-E3, wrap it in Domke wrap and keep it in my backpack or other bag so I have a great camera with me at all times. Remember, f/11 and be there. The only downside is that it is one of the most noisy of Fuji lenses. You'll want to manually focus it if you're in a cathedral, library, or other quiet place.
