I owned this lens before purchasing it again. I traded my original copy to finance the Fuji XF 90mm f/2.I also own the Fuji XF 80mm macro. I was torn between this lens and the 50mm f/2. I settled on the 60mm because it fit my kit better, and Im glad I did. Its a wonderful performer and I love its rendering.The Good:Amazing sharpness profile. Look at the MTF chart for it on Fujifilms website, its mostly ruler-flat across the frame. Ive found this holds up in real life, images are really sharp regardless of where you look in the frame. You need to have good light hitting your subject and you need to be about 3 feet away for good AF performance. When it gets too dim or youre too close, the AF slows down considerably. These are the rules I must obey while using it on the X-T3 or else the AF is slow to work with, otherwise its quite snappy. I feel the lens software is partly to blame here, it seems to have a dual personality depending on how close you are to the subject. But sometimes the lens tries to focus at macro distances first, and it takes about half a second for it to figure out the subject is farther away. A focus limiter switch would eliminate this and would let the photographer choose how the lens focuses. This lens is also very weak against bright light, I always keep the hood on when using it. I generally find that for backlit landscapes it can produce acceptable images as long as the sun is really low on the horizon or is just barely peeking through from behind an obstacle in the background.The Summary:Wonderful image quality and rendering. Well-controlled aberrations make for high-quality images. The only things letting this lens down are the AF performance and flare control. However, Ive found that on the X-T3 you can get snappy AF as long as youre focusing in good light and youre at least 3 ft away from your subject. This quickly became one of my favorite Fujifilm lenses despite its shortcomings because I love the images it produces and I love the ability to close focus. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could, -1/2 a star due to the flare problems, but I seldom shoot backlit images at this focal length so Ill give it a 5.

The rental experience was superb. The lens was in excellent condition. However I was not as impressed with the lens as I'd hoped. I used it mounted on an XT-30 and the images generally were excellent in terms of sharpness, especially edge to edge. The ability to close-focus was also great, as you would expect from a macro lens. The overall handling was a little clunky though. The lens hood was a little too big, but I'm not a big fan of lens flare so I felt compelled to use it anyway. Also, the focal length was a little "off" for my taste, I would have preferred 70mm over 60mm. All-in-all a very good "older" lens, but it didn't quite charm me, as say my old 35mm f/1.4 does (which, I know, is a little clunky also but...).

The Fuji 60mm Macro lens made this flower positively glow, with marked transparency and detail that I had never been able to capture. I did subsequent shots of roses using just the Fuji and the macro lens. One of the shots was exquisite, and right then I KNEW I had found a new way to enjoy my passion for photography. I have joined the many photographers who now have the Fuji mirrorless system in their camera bags. I have purchased the X-T2, and with the 60mm Macro lens (and others) in my bag I look forward to much fun without the DSLR heft.

My main gripe is that the lens is of the older type and is noisy and relatively slow to acquire focus. Also the lens is not weather sealed. Very good 60mm lens for the Fuji x-mount. Well corrected for distortion and chromatic aberrations. The lens gives a very nice 3D characteristic to your photographs and as such renders beautifully, better than the so-called Fujicrons. Downsides are the ridiculous lens hood which I leave at home and the fact that it is simply not a macro lens - it does not do 1:1 focus. Don't expect to use this without an extension tube for true macro shots. It is also worth noting that it is painfully slow to focus on older bodies such as the X-Pro1. It is much faster on the X-Pro2.

I just compared the picture quality.- like the size and weight of 60mm, when compared to 90mm f2- Since this lens is old with slow auto-focus (only in lowlight and very close focus), noise and not WR, it may not worth $650. Better to buy decent quality used ones for 400 or less.

Starting out, I could only afford one lens and wanted one that didn't weigh too much and could produce beautiful images, including macros.
