I asked Influenster members to help me find a good dog brush for my Pomeranian. I purchased four different brands that were recommended plus another brand that caught my eye that was not recommended. I bought five different brushes total. Each brand offered a different but pleasant experience. I found different things I liked about each brand. I felt that the Furmimator definitely latched on to some harder to get hairs. It has a button to push down to help easily remove hair. The first couple of times that I pushed this button to unlock it, I felt like it shockingly popped and snapped my finger. I realized that I just needed to firmly press the button, so it wouldn’t snap back at my fingers. Durable/quality materials. It feels hefty in my hand, like it won't break easily. The teeth are well machined, and grab every loose hair. The self-cleaning feature really helps. My dog won't sit still, so being able to clean the brush one-handed is fantastic! Just hold the button down and gove it one swift shake (if the hair clump is thick enough, the shake isn't needed). I've only had the brush for 1 hour, and I'm already happy with the purchase. I absolutely would recommend this product to anyone.

Amazing results!

My dog is a 100 pound golden retriever mix. He has more hair than I could ever imagine. My house had hair flying in the air and all over our clothes and the furniture. I brushed him and slicked him every day but still - hair everywhere. I've been using the furminator twice a week for three weeks, and his shedding is 75% less-no kidding! Amazing! I wish I had a current photo of him because his coat is so soft and fluffy. I brush, slick, and then furminate. He's more comfortable with out the thick, matted neck and butt undercoat - just in time for summer. Buy this product if your dog sheds. You will not be disappointed.

Blade Quality Concerns
5 December 2023

We purchased a Furminator deshedding tool several weeks ago to assist in grooming our Australian Shepherd. After reading the instructions we proceeded with a bath, brushing, dematting and deshedding. The initial deshedding removed an enormous amount of undercoat, it worked really well. Afterwards we noticed the blade on the deshedding tool had several broken teeth. Apparently the teeth were brittle, made of inferior materials or had micro fractures in them from the manufacturing process.

I brought up this brand of brush to my friend to make fun of the pricing, I told her I thought it was ridiculous. She said no trust me it’s really worth it (she has the cat version). I was skeptical that it could be THAT much better than a normal dog brush. I was WRONG to question it. This brush is literally amazing. I was so shocked by the amount of hair that came off my long and short hair dogs. I’ve been brushing them for two days now and it is unreal how much fur I’m getting out. All the undercoat from the short haired dog is almost gone. Our old brush was annoying to empty this one has a little click button. I’ve gotten probably 2 cups worth of dog hair off of their fur. I’m hoping that by switching to this brush I’ll reduce the amount of hair we have all over ... MoreI brought up this brand of brush to my friend to make fun of the pricing, I told her I thought it was ridiculous. Hair of the dog

I have and have had Saint Bernards for most my adult life, hair is an issue with rough coat SB. Been using the whip which a leather strap handle. This thing will work you to death, and they suck. Been looking at this furminator for a good while. Finally broke ranks and took delivery today. So straight to the porch we went. The grip is outstanding, well made and fits like someone that uses it, made it. The button that releases hair actually works, although it is just as easy to pull it off. Cut to the chase, this grooming tool works and works well. My porch floor is covered in hair. CAUTION!!! Do not get heavy handed. Found an area the size of half a playing card that looks like road rash, took a little to much so use some care. So, what is it that I do not like? The fact that it works so well does take the sting out of the price. With the summer months coming, this will help keep them cool.

I've used many types of brushes on my werewolf's beautiful coat. They help make him look a bit more civilized, but they've done nothing to help with his shedding or overheating (especially when temperatures reach 250 degrees Kelvin during the summer here in DC). Instead, I have to pay the groomer roughly a billion dollars every few weeks to strip out his undercoat. But no more! In just a few minutes with the Furminator, I was able to remove approximately 12 animals' worth of loose hair. Honestly, I feel a little bad for my Dyson vacuum because he's going to have a lot less to do around the house. As of today, I'd say that my favorite hobbies are making pizza, eating pizza, and using the Furminator. I think I might quit my job so that I can use the Furminator full ... MoreI've used many types of brushes on my werewolf's beautiful coat. Perfect for your Double-Coat Fur Baby!
3 March 2024

I found a starving puppy over a year ago. Beautiful girl. I *think* she is 1/2 Husky 1/2 Australian Sheppard. My vet agrees. She sheds like a broken cat-tail! This brush does wonders!DEFINITELY use it outside as it grabs those hairs and takes them. Does not hurt the dog as she loves it. But outside...because I could make an entire new dog out of what I brushed out of her. Also...wear clothes you do not mind covered in hair.

Works Buuuuut

This is a cool brush/comb and it works great for removing hair from my wait for it CAT! Yes. I use this on my old man cat as well as my dog. But mainly on my cat. He’s old and doesn’t do a good job cleaning himself now. This helps dashed him pretty good!My only issue is the locking part does not lock. It keeps popping open no matter how slowly, fast, or hard I try. It’s a dud. This is my second one of these and the first one worked Perfect. This one just doesn’t want to live up to its predecessor. Bummer

cuts the hair??
8 March 2024

I used this on my Great Pyrenees as she sheds SO much. This brush worked the best out of all of the brushes I’ve tried on her. Like a little too good. So I decided to use it on my hair to see what it the brush would do - detangle my hair or rip it out. The brush seemed to cut my hair when it snagged on a tangle. I feel like that was happening, especially when I was brushing the longest part of her coat…. I know it’s not good to cut/shave the undercoat as that’s how they regulate their body temperature. Were these already loose hairs or is the brush simply cutting the hairs when it hits a tangle??
