Amazing display on a G-Shock!

Loving my new G-Shock! It has actually exceeded my expectations. I bought it to track my hikes for heart rate mostly. I’m not getting any younger and feel better pushing myself when I know I’m not overdoing it. I am blown away by the sleep functions. I didn’t expect the level of detail and relating my sleep to my level of recovery. The sleep functions are far better than my wife’s 🍎 watch. Battery life also exceeds my expectations. I’ve had it on for a week and a half now with three hikes and sleep monitoring every day and I still have battery for a couple days left!

Beautiful, comfortable and Very durable G-Shock watch.

This Rangeman is the Rolls Royce of all digital G-Shock watches. It's very nice lookin and very light and comfortable to wear. This watch draws lots of attention. I wear mine 24/7. The lcd diaplay is an MIP display and it's very east to see both during the daytime and at night. The led night light is very bright and shows everything on the display. The battery lasts 3 to 4 months if you have the bluetooth turned on without any of the health and fitness features turned on. I love this watch.

Cool watch not perfect
28 June 2024

I’ve upgraded from the 9400 range man. Although this GPRH-1000 can do all the 9400 can and much more it still feels like an incomplete product. Workout data is great to have especially looking at the data in the app, but it makes this watch feel like a brick when the heart rate monitor acts up or when it takes over 5 minutes to acquire GPS signal. Being a smartwatch it falls short. I like that it can give me notifications from my phone but it gives me every notification my phone gets I wish there was a way to choose which notifications show up on my watch without turning them off on my phone. I know this can be solved in software and an update. Like why do I need my watch telling me that home depot is having a sale this weekend. G Smart

I was alittle skeptical about this watch based on initial reviews but knowing G Shocks legendary status and reknowned for their groundbreaking watches plus having owned the watches since the year dot I decided to buy one of these new Rangemans. It wears super comfy on the wrist with extra eyelets for the buckle forks to go through for that comfy fit. The sensors on the back of the case don't dig into the wrist and the watch sits nice and firm. The resin strap is quite flexible and feels nice. Setting the watch up was no issue once I found the Casio watches app and with the help of a you tube tutorial paired the watch to my phone in a point and shoot exercise to complete the process in a couple of minutes. Setting the watch up was no issue once I found the Casio watches app and with the help of a you tube tutorial paired the watch to my phone in a point and shoot exercise to complete the process in a couple of minutes. The MIP display is so much clearer and legible compared to the classic LCD display. The smartwatch Bluetooth capability is easy to get to grips to and also the mode function is different and takes a couple of minutes to figure out. The watch can function stand alone without phone pairing using the app but if you want to use the app and all the data and logs of your activities and fitness and monitoring then you can use the link and app to compliment the watch features as well. Overall the build quality is solid and rugged whilst not being too big. This watch is ony slightly bigger than the GW9400 2013 rangeman so is not as large as the 2018 version and is not that heavy either. This is the way forward for some of these G shocks, smart capability. A really solid tool gadget watch feature packed.

Great functionality, poor use of BIO-Resin
28 April 2024

The look, feel, and overall design are great. Its functionality would give a Garmin or similar premium device a run for its money, especially since it is half the cost. The challenge is using Bio-Resin for the yellow band and the bezel, which will become discoloured within a few days of wear. I fully understand the need for sustainability, biodegradable, and eco-friendly requirements. However, using this resource requires tremendous thought for its application, including the environments that will impact its longevity.Casio understands this; however, I wonder if the engineers had to compromise on the composition. I comment based on other Casio devices I have in my collection. I comment based on other Casio devices I have in my collection. For example, the Gulfmaster GWN-1000-9A has a yellow bio-resin band and bezel, but it took around a year before the band and bezel discoloured. The replacement costs for the band and bezel are questionable!I have read extensive manuals for both watches, and I am curious to know that Rangeman's manual contains several statements about Resin components and watch care. The wording is ambiguous, but it suggests that this material requires daily attention if worn 24/7.This is where expectations are misaligned between the public and Casio.Quote, 'The Casio G-Shock GPR-H1000-9A Rangeman is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, adventurers, and those who need a rugged, reliable timepiece. Here are some key features that make it suitable for its target audience:Durability and Toughness: The Rangeman GPR-H1000 is built to withstand harsh conditions. It features Casio's Mudmaster case technology, which makes it resistant to mud, dust, and impact. The stainless steel buttons are equipped with gasket fittings to prevent contaminants from getting in'.This statement is true, but notice Mudmaster case technology's wording and inclusion. I interpret that as meaning that only the device's mechanical components are built to withstand harsh conditions. On the flip side, the general public expects that the ENTIRE watch is designed to withstand harsh conditions. If that were true, Casio would put less detail into the watch's care instructions, especially highlighting several conditions under the Resin Components section—seven clear statements. Alas, one statement is missing. BIO-Resins are impacted by several other chemical compounds in the natural world. Some exist in the human body even, which, in theory, can indirectly impact Bio-Resins.Casio could develop a protective barrier to make the material resistant to colour fading. For example, using 303's Aerospace Protectant has worked well on my Gulfmaster. Could Casio develop a protective barrier? Food for thought, Casio.I've uploaded two photos of my watch; forgive their clarity. The second picture highlights the protruding areas where discolouration has already occurred.Best regardsNigel.

I’m loving this watch
11 February 2024

I absolutely love this watch ! It is my first G Shock and I’m mightily impressed! It looks great and has so many amazing features and functions! It’s super comfortable to wear and it’s a great tool for my fitness goals as well as so many other awesome capabilities. When you consider all the technology packed inside it and the app that complements its functionality I think it’s great value for money. If there was one suggestion I’d like to see changed is the length of time to illuminate it. Currently it’s limited to 5 seconds which I don’t think is long enough. Perhaps the team at g shock could release an update on the app to increase it to 10 seconds please! Then it would be absolutely perfect.

Rangeman improved

My GW-9400 is now second best.As a big fan of the 9400 I was worried the new Rangeman would be too much of a 'Smart Watch' - tied to your phone. I am happy to say that is not true. I use the watch and hardly ever go to the phone app.It is not too big. If you can wear the 9400, you can wear the new Rangeman without problem. It is really comfortable and has a soft wrist strap. The new features over the 9400 are welcome, such as the GPS and heart rate sensor. I go on bicycle rides now and track the journey. The only disadvantage compared to the GW-9400 is that, because it has more features, a few more button presses are required, although it is possible to re-order the functions to place the most used features at the front on the list.I am really pleased with the ... MoreMy GW-9400 is now second best.As a big fan of the 9400 I was worried the new Rangeman would be too much of a 'Smart Watch' - tied to your phone. Terrific all around watch

I was quick pre-order this watch and really wanted it to be everything I expected, and it has turned out to be even better! It offers many features that I don’t need but many other folks may find incredibly useful. It does all of the things I personally need from a smart watch but without any of the fuss. Plus, it stays charged for WEEKS on end, even with the step-counter engaged 24/7. Charging with the cords is fast and the solar works well if you are in the sun regularly. I can’t say enough great things about this watch and I am truly satisfied I took the plunge. Aside from it being a bit bulky under the closure of a dress shirt or a pearl snap shirt, the only thing I would wish for is the ability to use a NATO strap or the like, but the sensors would be blocked ... MoreI was quick pre-order this watch and really wanted it to be everything I expected, and it has turned out to be even better! Neither of those bugaboos are deal breakers though. I have very large wrists and the Rangeman is right at home. Its features make up for that slight inconvenience ten times over.

Worthy replacement for GPR B 1000
4 April 2024

I bought this as a comparison to my ultra 2. Both are rugged and can take a beating. I do wish it had a sapphire crystal also , but that’s a minor detail. It’s well built, easy to set, buttons are easy to work I have the screen set with step count visible which gives me all I need most of the day. Now that it’s updated it syncs with app easily and I can see my my sleep data and compare it to my other data from the ultra. Very close match. I’ve used it for trekking and ordinary walks and over a known 5K walk only a .2K difference between the ultra and it. Probably due to tree canopy and electronic signals in the area. I’m anxious to try it in the pool soon for lap swimming and see how it do. This is only month 4 since I got it so we will see Howe it holds up over the summer. Also it’s very easy to charge with the clip charger and last over a week with daily gym workouts and walks. Again I’ll try it for 2 K swim workouts in a few weeks.
