G-SHOCK, the watch that brought the new concept of toughness to the timepiece. It began with a reckless challenge to the conventional wisdom of the day, a developer's belief that it was possible to construct a watch that wouldn't break, even if dropped, Project Team Tough was formed to build it in 1981. The team created over 200 prototypes one after another over a period of about two years. They finally arrived at a shock-resistant structure. This marked the birth of a technology that is tough to the core. And G-SHOCK has continued its unceasing evolution ever since, in pursuit of greater toughness in every respect, from structure and materials to functions. Today, the development team's passionate challenge and constant efforts have reached fruition in Triple G Resist, a structure with the strength to withstand 3 types of gravitational acceleration. In its pursuit of usability under any circumstances, moreover, G-SHOCK realized installation of Smart Access, a system assuring agile, reliable operability. Stronger than ever, and targeting even greater strength, G-SHOCK's challenge is never-ending.

Just a unbelievably Good watch.Absolutely solid,I do alot of hiking, fishing etc so my equipment takes quite a battering, I know this watch will take anything you throw at it.It looks great, very comfortable to wear ,it is quite a big chunky watch but I have quite big wrists so fits me fine. The triple sensors are fantastic, what I would say is when you set up the compass you need to set the declination to the city you live in or the location you are travelling to other wise the compass can be up to 40 degrees off, for example london is +1 degree East. The barometer is very good I use it alot when fishing, hiking I set the alarm on so it alerts me if there is any sudden air pressure change. Also with the altimeter set it on the day of your hike.Overall best watch ... MoreJust a unbelievably Good watch.Absolutely solid,I do alot of hiking, fishing etc so my equipment takes quite a battering, I know this watch will take anything you throw at it.It looks great, very comfortable to wear ,it is quite a big chunky watch but I have quite big wrists so fits me fine. Great Casio Rangeman. Easy to read, very comfortable and light. Excellent back light. Functions are numerous and very user friendly. I think this model looks very sharp in black and yellow. Much better than the black / red version despite the fact that they are basically the same watch. Highly recommend this watch to any G-Shock fan or collector. Very happy with my purchase.

Best watch ever!

Also calibrating the compass has never been so easy to perform. I'm really happy with my G Shock purchase and look forward to long yrs of use. A little tip to those who have corrosion issues or watch band issues. 1. Never shower with your watch or wash dishes with dish soap. 2. Never wear watch while working around or near chemicals. Shower wash, detergents or other cleaning chemicals will absolutely destroy a watch! If you've ever took time to read your Casio watch book it clearly says to never use around chemicals. But hey it's your $300.00 watch so take care of it as carelessly as you want but don't ever blame Casio for your mistakes.

Fantastic

It’s everything I thought it would be. At first I was a bit disappointed with the screen being negative and not very readable in low light but it has auto light which sort of solves that problem because outside the screen is fine. I had wanted the black and red variant but a week after owning this I got used to it and I now don’t want to take it off, it has in fact replaced my GBD-H2000 because of just how nice it is. Don’t worry about the negative display this thing looks cool AF! The quality is top notch as you’d expect from a G-Shock also the buttons are big and easy to use great for outdoors while wearing cloves for instance! I highly recommend the rangeman it’s fantastic!!

After using it 6months, I thought I would write a quick review. If you're looking at this model in particular, it's because you think the black on black looks awesome. And it does in person, too. The display is harder to read, but "harder to read" doesn't mean this will be an issue. I learned the right angle to hold it for best legibility very quickly, and it's muscle memory by now. It's only ever an issue in dim lighting conditions, but there's an auto-backlight function. Despite using this liberally set at 3s, it's failed do drop the battery down from H, where it's sat since day 2.Pros:- Forget about ever worrying about your battery- Lovely design- Forgot how much I missed hourly signals- Very sturdy and secure strap- Large front-facing light button is easy ... MoreAfter using it 6months, I thought I would write a quick review. Once you're used to how different pressures and trends work in your area, your predictions will be pretty sharp- Altimeter is fun.- Compass got me home once.- Multiband !!! There's just something very satisfying knowing your watch is always accurate to a fraction of a second. For all intents and purposes, your watch is as accurate as an atomic clock.Neutral:- Thermometer is fairly useless since it's against your body heat. What you can do to get use out of it, is set it after you've worn it about an hour at home at your usual home temperature. It will then shift relative to this known point. Using it to actually read the temp is a non-starter unless you want to take it off and leave it to acclimate.Bad:- Strap metal should be black too. That's my only fault.

Lovely watch, keep them coming please but with carbon bands

One of the best all time G-Shocks in a new colour, what’s not to like? All the GW-9400 Rangeman are excellent watches and this new colour scheme look’s particularly great. It would have looked cooler with a reverse display but the positive black numbers on a light background is more practical. This is quite a chunky watch but never feels heavy or uncomfortable. It’s a good balance, a fair bit smaller than a Mudmaster but bigger than a GA-2100 for example. It has more than enough features, the tough Solar and multi band 6 are a must in my opinion, everything else works as it should. If you don’t own a 9400 then just buy one, there’s a reason Casio have been making and selling them for many years. My only criticism and why I can’t give 5 stars is why do we not get the ... MoreOne of the best all time G-Shocks in a new colour, what’s not to like? This is one fine watch from Casio. After I received it, I set it up for my time zone and then waited for it to catch up. It didn't take long. It was showing medium charge when I opened it up. I left it near a window facing North for a day. Fully charged, and the Atomic clock signal was collected. The stop watch and count down timer are both intuitive to operated. The temperature offset is easy to manage once you know what you're doing. I love the Compass and Altitude functions. The barometric pressure reading was a pleasant surprise, and everything functions as it should. Very nice, stylish watch from Casio. I've been wearing them for 40 years. Never been disappointed.

The best G Shock and the best service
26 January 2023

This G Shock is really impressive !!! It is the Rangeman GW-9400Y-1ER and the truth is that it exceeds all my expectations. For me it is the best G Shock. I've had G Shock since I was little...I had my first G-Shock and since then I've lost count of all the ones I've owned and given away. I bought this model to give it away and I couldn't stop opening it and the truth is that I'm going to keep it for myself... I have to comment that Casio's customer service has been excellent, I made the purchase on Tuesday and I had a problem with my card... I called and they solved the problem, they even called me twice and the watch arrived yesterday. [Rewarded Review] A very solid choice
16 November 2023

I purchased this watch as an upgrade from a previous G Shock that I loved and still have in working order. I wanted something with even more functionality. The unit is solidly built like my other G Shock but this feels more premium and substantial. I feel like I have an awesome piece of survival gear on my wrist. I love my apple watch but this to me is a real “smart watch”.

This watch is great—solar-powered, altimeter, barometer, thermometer, automatic DST, and sunrise/sunset data. It’s wonderfully big and chonky like a good GShock, but feather light and obscenely comfy on thr wrist. There’s just one problem for me, and it probably comes down to personal preference, but I found the black-out to be very difficult to read in nothing other than direct sunlight. There is an automatic backlight function you can enable which lights up the display when you turn the watch towards you, and this helps a lot when you’re in a place with minimal lighting. At the end of the day, I returned the watch because there’s so much awesome tech packed in this timepiece but it’s “hidden” by a difficult-to-read display.
