I bought this kit for my i9-10850K/RTX 3070 build to try it out. Both CPU and GPU overclocked. I currently have a G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB 2x16GB DDR4 3600 CL16 Dual Rank kit. It has worked flawlessly but like I said I wanted to try a new, supposedly faster kit. I was unpleasantly surprised that this DDR4 4000 kit is only Single Rank. Dropping my benchmark scores in the CPU categories around 1300 points! Will be returning this. I assumed this kit was Dual Rank RAM being 16GB DIMMs. My mistake for assuming but all the research I did on this kit said nothing about the ranks. I'm sure if it was my scores would have much better. Dual Rank RAM is the best performance in my experience for all you newcomers out there building.

I didn't do my homework regarding the RAM situation with the latest hardware. I thought XMP settings were still plug-and-play as long as your motherboard supported the clock speed. I found out it's more complicated now. I'm using this with an ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PRO (WI-FI) and a Ryzen 5800X, and it doesn't seem to be as compatible with the motherboard as I hoped. I can get it stable at the XMP timings at DDR-3866, but can't get any higher even with relaxed timings. I can't get the motherboard to accept a CAS17 setting even at DDR-3600. I was hoping for better, but that's probably my fault. DDR4 is complicated now.

I bought this rame to upgrade my prebuilt that I picked up on the same day. I only wish I would have noticed that the MB did not work with many types of ram.I can only blame myself. The sales rep asked if I looked up the ram to make sure, and all I did was looked up the max ram speed. My bad.It took time but I have to up to 3600mhz and stable. When I decide to upgrade the motherboard I will get one that it works with at the 4k this is supposed to run at. The ram itself is not the problem and works great as long as it is not going into a ASUS X570 TUF Gaming Plus motherboard.
I'd only recommend this RAM if you have a pretty new MoBo and this exact line is on the QVL. I have an ASUS Z370 motherboard that will theoretically run RAM at 4000Mhz, and the QVL contains a similar line of DIMMs from G.Skill with similar specs. Before this I was running 4 DIMMs in this exact Ripjaw line at 3200Mhz, but I needed to upgrade capacity and thought I'd upgrade speed too. My first order of this RAM wouldn't even post at anything faster than 3000Mhz! Auto-tweak in BIOS stopped it at 2800 - much slower than the price demands. So I sent those back as defective and got a replacement pair. The second pair runs rock stable at a max of 3417Mhz, and about 99% stable at 3550. DDR5 availability was scarce, price exaggerated for what was available so I went with these DDR4-4000 ram instead. Built for a gaming PC, mainly Warzone, paired with a 12600k and 3080 ti. Have not been disappointed at all, snappy speeds and zero loading or lag. Staff at micro center helped tremendously build my first gaming PC and it is a beast!
Using this in my Z690 board and 12700k. Once you enable XMP it runs at full speed. Not sure why others have reported issues except they may just have older systems. My MSI Tomahawk board confirms compatibility on their site and does indeed work out of the gate once XMP is turned on. Now I haven't gone into depth on Gear 1 and Gear 2 but it defaults to Gear 2 under auto more than likely as the "balanced" setting. I'll be growing with this RAM until DDR5 comes down in price then will change over to the latest offerings MSI and GSkill have. Solid brands and competitive prices.
I've had this kit for about a month, installed in an ASUS X570 ROG Crosshair VIII Dark Hero with a Ryzen 7 3700X. I can't really speak to the kit's built-in XMP profile, since my memory controller can't seem to go that far, but it works perfectly at 3600 16-20-20-40 1.35V, which is exactly what I needed it to reach. I'm plenty happy with my purchase.
Technically my motherboard doesn't support this memory, but with the standard XMP profile 2 I'm getting 4000mhz and system has operated stable for 3 days. I did update my bios to the latest a month ago (9/2021 version) so maybe that helps. Have definitely noticed a FPS boost. Highly recommend for Intel users. Cannot speak to AMD compatibility. G.Skill almost always produces great out of the box performance. This was no exception. I would say, "buy with confidence", as I have never had any issue whatsoever with the brand across multiple sellers. I just happened on a great deal from New Egg, and I buy a lot of their products all with zero issues.
