This mat has ventured with me for 6+ years to hot yoga classes, vinyasa classes, inferno pilates, bar yoga, at home floor exercises, yoga in the park, and mediations. It’s still in great condition even though it’s my go-to mat and I tend to take it everywhere! I like this one more than some of my other ones because it provides extra cushion. I’ve received compliments on the color/mandala design as well.

This mat is great for the money you paid. Not the most perfect mat, but it'll do! I previously had the same mat, but in the dual printed (both sides) which was $30, and that mat was PHENOMENAL! BUT-- I really didn't need the dual printed since I only used one side. So I returned it and got this one. I love the design, though I wish the yellow wasn't so transparent. Though it's hard to complain because yellow overlayed on a dark surface is pretty difficult to get full opacity (from a painters perspective). And the print is a little off center, leaving the bottom looking crooked. But since it's a dark mat, you can't tell as much. There were also some hanging foam on the end. I do really like this mat, it is thick so when you're doing poses that require you to have knees bent, it does a really awesome job cushioning those bony areas. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because it was supposed to be "sticky" but it is really slippery. I followed all the directions to a T and even added water to the surface but I do still slide. But because I like the thickness of the mat, I purchased a hot yoga towel and have not looked back since. I would really consider purchasing this mat if you are doing hot yoga but purchase a towel as well to keep your hands and feet from slipping. Favourite mat.

Love this mat. Is my third one, and best so far. Good quality without being overly expensive.It did have the new mat smell, but this soon went.A really good thickness, you get an imprint of your feet when you move!So far, I've had no problem with slipping on it, which I have on previous mats, despite them being described as non-slip. The instruction that comes with it, says to wipe with a damp cloth to avoid slipping, but I haven't needed to do this.It doesn't come with a strap, which would have been nice. Fortunately, I kept an old one, so use that to roll it to put in my bag.Very pleased. Namaste .

Great Mat, Bad Packaging

Love my new yoga mat! The thicker 6mm mat is much more comfortable than my old thin mat and the design is beautiful. I would give this 5 stars except that I was disheartened by the choice of packaging Gaiam uses-a big piece of plastic wrapped around the mat. The plastic is not recyclable but in truth I would rather see a paper wrapper that is not only recyclable but that also breaks down easily as recycling plastic is problematic to begin with. Granted, when purchasing a yoga mat you are buying a big piece of plastic but you can put old mats to use in many ways. It just feels a little tone deaf for a company named "Gaiam" wraps their product in a piece of plastic. I think they can do better.

Love it... don't buy anything thinner than the 6mm

LOVE it. This is the second mat I've purchased from Gaiam and I'm still very happy with them. Also bought one for my mom. I recommend only purchasing the 6mm or thicker. PS... I use this mat at my gym on average 6 days a week and it holds up fairly well. These start to "shed" after using them for hovers/planks for a while which I wish did not happen, but I've only purchased these mats so I can't say how they hold up against other mats. I called giaam when my last mat started to flake away but they said the "lifetime" warranty does not cover the "shedding" which is not cool at all - so don't think that this mat will last you a "lifetime" when you buy it. I think my last one only lasted a year. Not sure if that's reasonable but at least it's not as expensive as some ... MoreLOVE it. Slippery But Comfortable

Beautiful color, excellent padding but very poor performance.As other reviewers have mentioned, this mat is very slippery. I'm not a sweaty person, and I use this mat for doing brief 30 minute sessions at home, so I do break into a soft sheen. My palms break into a minor sweat, and I have trouble holding a down dog. I have to constantly re adjust my palms because they keep slipping forward. I hope that the mat's texture improves over time to become less slippery. I even followed the instructions on the packaging to wipe it down with a damp cloth and let air dry completely before first use. Slippery at first, but I fixed it

I was really excited to receive my mat and immediately wiped it with water like they say to, and then left it unrolled to dry. Then a day later I took it to a class, and my hands were sliding EVERYWHERE. I could not hold a down dog to save my life. I'm not even someone who typically has sweaty hands but I feel like the mat actually made my hands sweat more. Luckily, I brought my sweatshirt into class with me, so I put that over top and that fixed it temporarily.When I got home I looked up what Gaiam recommends which is washing it with a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar. I wiped it down good and let it sit out for a few days. I just tried it again at home yesterday and it actually seemed to work like 90% of the way! Truly worth the price

I've bought a few cheap yoga mats before when I was just beginning to do yoga and pilates. The problem that I've always had is that either the thickness of the mat was not ideal for the workouts that I was doing (one of the really spongy mats that I have is too thick and I feel really unstable when doing standing workouts), or my palms would get too sweaty when doing a move and I would lose grip pretty quickly.Although this mat is a tad more expensive, I would definitely give this a try if you are looking for something more, or if you are not satisfied with your current mat. For me, personally, I was definitely hoping for something a little more durable but not overly expensive and this product suited me perfectly. Very happy with this mat

I purchased this yoga mat about 10 months ago and from day one I was impressed with the quality and the grip, even when I've been working up a sweat! To reduce the slippage, I apply cleansing gel to my hand a feet for the session - which removes any oily residue from hand and foot cream. This I believe helps me keep a good purchase of the mat.So 10 months later still happy with my purchase and I still receive compliments of the colour and design. Somewhat disheartened to see it's gone up in price!
