A worthwhile upgrade if you are coming from Watch

Watch faces look better, it’s now easier to read the information on the watch, and there are fewer chances of accidentally touching something you didn’t mean to on the screen. The display itself is brighter, which makes it incredibly easy to read outdoors. The watch is however noticeably heavier, weighing 59 grams compared to the Watch 4’s 46.5 grams. The stainless steel build should help resist minor scratches over time.I really liked that Wear OS 4 has introduced a dedicated WhatsApp app for smartwatches (which isn’t currently available on the other watches), new Tiles for Spotify, and an overhaul to the Google Calendar Wear OS app. There are some minor issues I noticed, for instance, when I tried switching on the watch’s ‘Theatre Mode’ during a film, I was then prompted to run through steps to set it up on my phone. It’s not ideal when you are already in the theatre.I was really impressed by the speed of the UI. Everything from scrolling through menus to jumping into apps runs smoothly. The rotating bezel is really amazing and the tactile feedback of the bezel's rotation is a unique characteristic. Its utility becomes evident during usage and I really can’t understand how Samsung removed this feature from their watches. The primary concern for me was its battery. While the battery is smaller than Watch 5 Pro, it can last a full day even with all features in use, including the always-on display. I was able to extend it to 1.5 days without the always-on display which is not great but not a deal breaker as well. The Watch 6 Classic also offers a couple of new health related features. Firstly, there's the irregular heart rate notification, and secondly, the on-device sleep coach for more insightful sleep analysis. I found both of these features to be really useful & have used them a few times already.Considering all the new features, it's certainly a worthwhile upgrade if you are coming from Watch 4.

This applies to the scales too so to have this on your wrist instead is awesome. Now I have the 40mm and battery will last me the day and sleep tracking. If I have a particularly busy day tracking walks and GPS, it will still last the day but will either need to go on charge before bed or will need a top up if I intend to use sleep trackingThis is not really that big a deal as the watch charges surprisingly quicklyquick 20 mins before bed will net me more than enough for the night. One issue that I've run in to and it might not bother you at all and is not a dealbreaker for me is, despite having a newer CPU this year, the OS still has it's stutters. If waking from not using it for a while or quickly swiping through the tiles, things can occasionally take a second or two to respond or stutter which does hurt the experience a little..One feature that cannot be overlooked for those with different work and personal phones, is the ability to switch what phone the watch is paired to without factory resetting. This is something I've been wanting for years and from what I can tell, Samsung are the only ones to do it.Notifications, music control and google assistant all work great and I've been really enjoying this watch. The Watch 6 & Classic series are in my opinion, the very best android smartwatches to date.

The watch face that is made of sapphire crystal glass seemed sturdy. After weeks of use, it's still as pristine as ever with a quick wipe. I also very much liked the rotating bezel element - not only does it make the watch look more classic, it is rather intuitive when navigating on the watch.Thereafter, once I got exploring more, I have made use of various settings to make my life easier. These included setting up to receive notifications from my phone (but not when my phone was on and being used), SmartLock function which keeps my phone unlocked whenver the watch is nearby and the single biggest convenience element which is Google Pay. With this, I could genuinely leave my house without my purse as I could pay for everything with my watch.Overall, very happy that I've added this little beauty on my wrist that offers health monitoring as well as many convenient and liberating features.

I enjoy the fact you can use your phone camera through your watch as it makes it easier to get the right angle and not be in an uncomfortable angle with your bodyAlthough there is a down side the fact that there is an extra fee to get your smart watch and phone connected it's about £7 a month as much as it isn't a big expense to me it might be for others. I'm not sure why there is something else to pay for it as it is just an extention of your phone for when you can't use your phone. People pay over £200 for this product and then to have another fee on top is a bit much especially as it doesn't specify that there would be another charge on top of what was already paied.I like the fact that the clock faces can be customised using the SAMSUNG WEAR app.The ... MoreI enjoy the fact you can use your phone camera through your watch as it makes it easier to get the right angle and not be in an uncomfortable angle with your bodyAlthough there is a down side the fact that there is an extra fee to get your smart watch and phone connected it's about £7 a month as much as it isn't a big expense to me it might be for others. People pay over £200 for this product and then to have another fee on top is a bit much especially as it doesn't specify that there would be another charge on top of what was already paied.I like the fact that the clock faces can be customised using the SAMSUNG WEAR app.The instructions from the watch are simple to understand but there is a lot that goes on in a short amount of time. You'd swipe up for the apps, down for more options, left for health and right for notifications, sometimes it doesn't quite register the correct swipe so it does something else so the screen is very sensitive and the swiping needs to be precise.I like the strap it comes with as it is comfortable to wear but the clasp feels a bit light, like it could break if someone sat on or stood on or even if it was dropped on a hard floor. It was surprisingly easy to text on the watch and easy to type so there were no issues with that. The blood pressure monitor needs to be used with a cuff to start with to calibrate it but not everyone has a cuff and may use the watch as one.I do like the watch and the features it has like the sleep and exercise trackers. Both the sleep and exercise trackers seem great and seem accurate. I like that the sleep tracker shows what kind of sleep you may have like deep sleep and light depending on your heart rate, the only thing was that the watch wasn't overly comfortable to sleep with but if worse enough I'm sure it would be easy to get used to.Over all the watch is good quality and seems like a good thing that others can use but unfortunately I don't think it's something for me, but I'd suggest it to people who can't always be on their phone or have it on them especially if they need to communicate quickly.

Great, highly functional smart watch!!
1 September 2023

My family (with two older teenage boys) has enjoyed using smart watches over the past 6+ years, with the quick glances for text and email notifications without taking our phone out, along with all the other capabilities that keep getting added. We've used a few different brands during that time (which one brand we really liked and had a few of most of that time), but over the past year, our oldest son and I had moved over to the Samsung Galaxy Watch (5 Pro for both of us) and we really have enjoyed the upgraded functionality and design (especially when I finally moved over to a Samsung phone and gained even more functionality). My wife's most recent watch has been very nice, with a nice "fancy" design to it (that she has gotten may compliments on) with a metal band, but this year, we'd both finally joined a gym and that watch isn't exactly the best to wear. So, we wanted to get her a watch that was geared more towards being sporty and health monitoring that she wouldn't mind wearing to the gym or going on walks, and with us liking our Samsung watches, decided to get the new Samsung Galaxy Watch6 (40mm for her). So far, she hasn't been disappointed!!Comparing to her other watch, the body size is pretty much identical with the same thickness and width. But, the Galaxy Watch6 has a smaller bezel, which allows for a decently bigger visible screen, and overall is much lighter. And the screen, wow, it looks great! Even compared to my 5 Pro from last year, it looks even better (even if it is smaller than mine). Unlike the Watch6 Classic, which has a rotating bezel for scrolling through lists, this Watch6 has the same functionality but just sliding a finger around the outside edge. My 5 Pro has a similar touch scrolling around the outside edge, but it has a raised bezel to handle that, while the Watch6 is completely flat. It does have two buttons, the Home Key and Back Key (top and bottom buttons respectively when worn on the left wrist). Both can have their function changed. The Home Key actually has two activations - Press and hold and Double press. The Press and hold can be set to open Bixby, Google Assistant, or the Power Off menu. Double press can be to go to the most recent app, as specific app, My Exercises (in Samsung Health) or Accessibility shortcuts. For the Back Button, it is a single-press that can go to the previous screen (same as a swipe from left) or Show recent apps. It also will silence the vibration (and assumingly the watch ringtone) on an incoming call (without "dismissing" the call).Getting connected to her Galaxy S23+ was nice and simple. The Wearables app was already installed (you will need this installed first if it isn't already, and more on this later), so I turned on watch and phone immediately noticed it and asked to connect. It then downloaded Galaxy Watch6 Manager, asked a few setup questions, then finished setup. With it being Google WearOS, it connected to Google account (for Google Play Store access). Then, it prompted on phone to install Samsung Health Monitor (which is needed for several items, and if wanting to use the ECG function, it requires to be connected to a Samsung phone). So, in a fairly short time, it was ready to go!We like the new quick-connector design for the bands, using a push-button to release instead of the small sliding peg. She really likes the softness of silicone band, but the excess storage is a little different, where it is tucked into a slot and goes between the band and the wrist. She doesn't seem to mind it, though. The built-in health monitoring has quite a few functions turned on by default, and one of them caught my wife a little off-guard. While at the gym riding a stationary bike, she got an alert that her heartrate was extremely elevated for being still (as it wasn't detecting movement with her hands resting on the handles). It is also set up to automatically detect a workout if it senses movement for almost 10 minutes and asks if you'd like to start tracking it. One thing she hasn't tried yet is the sleep monitoring as she isn't used to wearing a watch to bed. It seems to be able to detect the different sleep cycles. The Classic mentions it can detect snoring, but I'm not sure if this one does. Samsung does have a softer fabric band available for a little more comfort when wearing while sleeping.Battery life seems it could be decent, just not a full 2 days (mentions up to 40 hours). She is already used to charging a watch every night, so we haven't seen just how long it would last. It won't last as long as my 5 Pro (which has a much bigger battery, which is why I got that model), it still has enough to make it through (and slightly past) the day. She has the always-on display and is using a photo slideshow face (which those images look great on it) and one day we checked, it had about 60% left after wearing it for about 12 hours. The charger is magnetic to hold it in place, and it requires a USB-C port for charging (like normal nowadays, charging blocks are not included). While we have some USB-C charging blocks (from when they actually still did include them with phones), I've gotten some USB-C to USB-A adapters so we can still use those. Also, if away from the charger and needing a little extra before getting to the charger, it can be charged from a phone that has wireless power share capability. The one thing I have liked with the Galaxy Watch Manager in the Wearbles app is that every single setting you can set and manage on the watch is available in the settings in the app itself. This is quite useful, especially for rearranging the app order in the app list. And all the health information is synched to the Samsung Health app on the phone. If you are more used to working with Google Fit for activity tracking, it can be installed on the watch as well.As with most technology items, they seem to get better and better with each new version, and this is no exception. And while she had planned to still wear the "fancy" older watch (depending on the situation), the Galaxy Watch6 is starting to become the main watch she wears.

This is my 3rd different brand of smart watch. My biggest complaint to date was the inability to reliably get a full, busy day of use out of the battery. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 (40mm version) pulls its weight with at least 24 hours of runtime [rated at 30hr/40hr depending on "always on" feature--I do not have mine set to always on nor do I have wifi always on]. The battery fast charges to 8hr of charge in 8 minutes per the website. I have operated the watch mostly as a bluetooth paired device with my Android phone. The watch itself is very stylish, more so than its primary competitors, in my opinion. The band is very comfortable and easy to clasp and fits my wrist well. The band is very comfortable and easy to clasp and fits my wrist well. The screen pretty much goes right up to the edge--minimal wasted space on bezel. The screen is bright and bold and easy to read. Built-in GPS means you ditch the phone but still track your exercise when walking, hiking, cycling, etc.Although booting of the watch seems a bit sluggish, setup was easy. Essentially download the Galaxy Wearable app, turn bluetooth on on the phone, wait for the watch to give a code that you confirm over on the phone, then finish the setup and configuration on the phone. It took about 7 minutes including some time to do an update and a watch restart. The internal guts of the watch (processor, speed, storage, etc.) are all fine and fast and ample for what I need. Health, fitness and sleep are all great aspects of this watch, but here's where Samsung starts to lose me...There are too many uninstallable Samsung preloads on the watch. I live and die by Google apps and accounts and had hoped this Android driven watch would not come with too much bloatware. Even if I used a Samsung phone, I probably would still prefer my Google apps over the Samsung equivalents for health, music, photos, etc. The fact that I cannot uninstall the Samsung branded apps is frustrating, plus they appear to be always active (cannot turn off background activity on the Samsung Health Monitor app, for example, however it appears to be using 0% of the battery at the moment). At best, I can move these apps to the bottom of my app list and install my preferred equivalent apps to the top of the list. All in all, a very stylish, easy to use and read smart watch with better than average battery life but a little bloated with Samsung apps (health app being among the best) and tools that cannot be removed.

Now this is a premium device. A true Rolls Royce of a watch. I was worried that the watch might be a little too big as I went for the 47mm version, which is the largest available but it is a nice size and it just feels so solid and weighty. I went for the silver and it is a gorgeous watch, instantly getting comments from people who are seeing it for the first time. The spinning dial and buttons are extremely satisfying to use and the whole design is just top notch engineering. Feature wise it has everything you want or need from a watch. There are too many apps to list but all the standard health and fitness, messaging, entertainment apps are there and with the larger face, gorgeous screen and precision interaction it is a dream to use. There are too many apps to list but all the standard health and fitness, messaging, entertainment apps are there and with the larger face, gorgeous screen and precision interaction it is a dream to use. I was concerned that the touch screen aspect would be too finicky and I would just use it for the basics but I find myself replying to messages the precision on the touchscreen is that good. Obviously it has all the customisation you could want, from alternative watch faces to replacement straps plus an incredible amount of customisation is available via the settings with a healthy amount of accessibility options to boot. Smart watches really have come a long way and the Samsung 6 is at the pinnacle. If I had one minor concern it would be battery life. I do want everything on all the time. There is a feature where you can limit it to just being a watch, this will give you over 2 weeks of battery life and there are lots of options to turn things off to get to your desired battery life but I like all the bells and whistles on all the time. 36 hours is great but there is just that nag that I have to charge it for 15-30 mins every day at some stage. It truly is a minor gripe and with some tweaking I am sure I can get it to over 2 days without sacrificing much but in summary, this is an amazing watch and I couldn't recommend it enough.

Worthy Upgrade in Every Single Way!
23 January 2023

My old Samsung Galaxy Wearable was the Galaxy Watch 3, which I was a big fan of but I wanted to upgrade and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro was something that greatly appealed to me with it's improvements in both the hardware and software departments. The first striking thing about this Smart Watch is it's aesthetic design. The Titanium build is instantly noticeable and compared to the Aluminium chassis of my previous model, I really can notice a difference. In addition to the solid Titanium body, having a sapphire screen adds even more safety in regards to durability of this wearable. Another big upgrade from the Gorilla Glass on my previous model.I have to say how impressed I am with the included D Buckle strap. In addition to the solid Titanium body, having a sapphire screen adds even more safety in regards to durability of this wearable. Another big upgrade from the Gorilla Glass on my previous model.I have to say how impressed I am with the included D Buckle strap. The magnet works fantastically well, very easy to adjust, and never comes undone, even during vigorous hiit workouts or playing sports. The quality of the strap is great and both looks smart while being extremely comfortable for activity, and the colour really matches the Grey Titanium body of the watch. The new Google Wear Operating System is something I was eager to try, having always been used to Samsung's own Tizen OS which had been ever present on my previous wearables. But I am delighted with the software on this watch. Having access to Google Pay, You Tube music and Google Maps has taken the functionality of this watch, for me, to a whole different level, to what was previously possible for me with previous Samsung devices. The user interface is much more friendly, as well as looking a lot better on the eye. The widgets are great and the pre-installed selection of watch faces and integrated personalisation of those is fantastic. With the ability to download hundreds more, there really is something for whatever I fancy and mood I am in.The improved health tracking was a big selling point for me. Body Composition to easily keep tabs on my body fat and mass is great and allows a much more regular and up to date progress report of how I'm getting on. The sleep tracking improvements are also noticeable and the battery life has impressed me aswell. Easily getting 2 full days and nights before needing a charge. But even when charging has been required, it reaches 100% in no time at all.All in all, absolutely thrilled I have upgraded and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about getting one.
