The Gamakatsu Octopus Circle hook is a hugely popular hooks. This offset circle design is the perfect deepwater bottom fishing hook with paternoster dropper-style rigs or normal boat fishing with cut baits. When using this hook anglers do not strike on the bite, rather the fish is allowed to run with the bait and as the line comes tight the hook will roll into the corner of the fishs mouth. This is a great hook to use for lazy rigs fished from a rod holder as fish simply hook themselves. It is popular across a wide range of sizes for so many fish species. If you are chasing smaller estuary species, sizes 8, 6 and 4 estuary are ideal. For bream and flathead, most people use sizes 2, 1 & 1/0. The snapper fisherman ideally prefer use sizes 4/0, 5/0, 6/0. Bigger Species fisherman targeting Mulloway and Kingfish mainly use hooks in the larger 8/0 size. This is an exceptionally versatile hook style and is also widely uséd as a light weight live bait hook for many species.

I use these octopus hooks for everything from freshwater to saltwater species. They come out sharp right out of the package. I have high confidence in my hook set when using these hooks.

If you are into float-lining, the straight shank circle profile is the absolute bomb. No offset shank equals greatly reduced bait spin and thus better bait presentation, as well as easier hook-up and hook removal.

These hyper-sharp, in-line circle hooks were purchased to be used as the upper hook in a high/low fluke ( summer flounder ) rig. Typically, one of these hooks is tied to a 25 - 5- cm length of fluorocarbon line some 25 - 35 cm above the main lure a Spro buck tail jig. Both are thereafter tipped with Gulp! swimming' mullets and either cast or jigged, depending whether if fished from, a boat, pier, or shore. The advantage of the in-line circle hook is in their design, with about 90+% of lip hooked fish, allowing much lower mortality and an easier released fish. The caveat is the hook set, which requires slow raising the rod tip or pointing the rod in the direction of the fish and reeling, allowing the hook to pass over the fish's mouth and lodge in the lip. Being Gamakatsu hooks, these are sharper than if you sharpened them yourself by belt or hone, and that really says it all. When used properly, they stick and stay stuck.

These are great sharp hooks! I use them for hooking up my senkos wacky style and also for drop shotting. They have not disappointed! Highly recommend giving them a try!
I only buy quality fishing products like GamaKatsu Hooks from Anaconda. They stock quality products at the best prices. Search on YouTube for 'John Can Fish TV' to see the hooks in action.
These hooks are particularly suited for paternoster rigs because they have the eye well closed off eliminating that sometimes sharp end that can nick and break off loop style rigs. Sharp, strong and worth the money.
I love Gamakatsu! They are my GO TO! Quality control is outstanding! Engineering is outstanding! Material is top notch! I'm not a hard core- sharpen my hooks kind of guy- BUT I can tell you- these hooks stay sharp after a beating! They hold their form as well despite being abused and hooked on some monsters.
Had a pack of the equivalent of these in Eagle Claw Brand, tested them out so I could save these hooks for walleye on fishing opener. Had to immediately switch back to these right away. I never poked my fingers while tying on the Eagle claws but while tying these you have to be much more carful, poked myself a lot. That's a good thing! These are thinner and much sharper, definitely a much higher quality hook. Also they don't rust like the eagle claws. Worth the extra couple dollars.
The hooks are the sharps hooks I have ever used. It is the only hook I have used for sea trout and red drum for years. I was introduced to them by an outdoor writer when they first came available. They are just the best.
These hooks were hand crafted in the foothills of the great Mt Fuji by Grand master samurai Iikatsufishu Gamakatsu. Each hook contains the piercing power of the Shinkansen bullet train that allows it to cut through the water like a katana. There is not a fish alive that can match the power of these hooks…
