These Large Grunter(barred javelin fish) are great eating and are caught up to 6 kilos in Cape Bowling Green bay. They are notoriously hard to hook at times. I out-fished my fishing mate seven to one a few days ago fishing for grunter. He was using a standard long shank hook. All catch were hooked in the corner of the mouth and were easily de-hooked.

Had quite a few hits with these hooks using prawn but failed to actually hook up. Also tried as a double hook sliding one down the line to use in pilchards and also had good hits but no hook up. Not sure why maybe the shape of the mouth on the hook. Will give them another go.
These hooks are particularly suited for paternoster rigs because they have the eye well closed off eliminating that sometimes sharp end that can nick and break off loop style rigs. Sharp, strong and worth the money.
