The only slight negative point to raise is that the inner surface of the back is matte/rough as well as the outer surface of the back. This means that there's a rough feel to sliding the cards in. I don't think they actually endanger a card, and I were concerned enough about a card, I'd probably be double sleeving anyway. However, it does seem like a smooth inner surface and matte/rough outer surface for the back, like e.g. dragon shield art brushed sleeves have, is a slightly better design.Shuffle feel is really good, at least equal to dragon shield art brushed, which in turn is much better than other dragon shield art sleeves. These are the best or equal with the best of all the sleeves I've used in this regard. It is important to know that these sleeves have a matte, low-glare front as well as a matte/rough feel back. Some brands refer to this as anti-glare and only use the word matte to describe the backs. The colors are slightly less vivid through matte fronts, but there is also less glare. This is a matter of preference and I don't consider it a flaw. However, if your preference is for gloss and you bought these because they don't prominently mention anti-glare, you would be disappointed. The package front mentions eye fatigue, but I don't think it's explicit enough that this refers to a matte/anti-glare front film.

A high quality option if you are sensitive to glare

I have only ever used FFG sleeves, so these are my first packs of Gamegenic sleeves since they became the replacement, as well as my first experience with matte sleeves. These sleeves are as high quality as the FFG sleeves that I was used to, with consistent sizing between packs, solid seams, and the same satisfying, medium-heavy weight. I found the sleeves to be a little too tight at the seams for the Ethnos cards I was sleeving with Standard American, which caused the sleeves to bow out and made it difficult to stack the cards into a deck without them falling over. This may be fixed by pressing the sleeved cards, but I haven't tried it yet. The matte finish creates a frosted effect over the card graphics, which noticeably washes out the colors and slightly blurs ... MoreI have only ever used FFG sleeves, so these are my first packs of Gamegenic sleeves since they became the replacement, as well as my first experience with matte sleeves. The matte finish creates a frosted effect over the card graphics, which noticeably washes out the colors and slightly blurs the text. The finish does dull the sharpness of any glare, but the cards still aren't visible through the remaining glare, so that small benefit comes at the expense of legibility even when there isn't glare. In the end, I prefer regular clear sleeves for their clarity, and the surface contour of a quality clear sleeve is smooth enough that any glare can be controlled, so I'm optimistic about trying the Gamegenic Prime sleeves next!

Good sleeves, but be careful about Asmodee sleeve recommendations

It might not be entirely fair for me to knock off a star on these sleeves due to what might even be a misprint, as the sleeves themselves are fine. But essentially what happened was, I got the Merchants and Marauders Seas of Glory expansion, and in the rulebook it recommended the Gamgenic sleeves I should get for the cards were the yellow-coded ones, i.e. the Mini American sleeves. I thought this was odd, since the core Merchants and Marauders game recommended the red-coded Gamegenic sleeves, which are their Mini Euro sleeves. The Euro sleeves worked for the base game, but since Mini Market was out of those at the time (I purchased the mini american sleeves during a Gamegenic sale), I decided to trust the Seas of Glory rules to see if these sleeves would ... MoreIt might not be entirely fair for me to knock off a star on these sleeves due to what might even be a misprint, as the sleeves themselves are fine. The sleeves are the exact same size as the cards, so while the cards could technically "fit", the cards started to bend immediately upon getting put inside the sleeve. It was just too tight of a fit. I bought more of the Euro sleeves and those worked like a charm. Thankfully, I was able to use the Mini American sleeves for another game in my collection (New Angeles), so the purchase wasn't a waste of money. But I figured I'd give this as a word of warning. If you have a game that recommends purchasing these sleeves, make sure their measurements aren't exactly the same size as the cards they're meant for. It's possible the rules in the expansion I got had the wrong suggested size, or maybe Gamegenic is planning on changing up their sleeve color coding, but at the time of my writing this review, make sure to double-check the sleeve measurements.

Great quality for affordable price, but a slippery
18 January 2022

When I ordered these I assumed they were matte-textured like the Dragon Shield Matte sleeves, which provides some grip to the sleeves. However, the Matte on these sleeves is more of a visual thing for the cards. These sleeves are actually much more slippery and hard to hold and stack than the regular Gamegenic sleeves. I ended up wishing I got the regular sleeves, but these are still great quality and very affordable.

Great replacements for FFG sleeves
7 September 2021

These sleeves are great. I was really sad to see the old FFG sleeves get retired. But these live up to the quality of the older sleeves. It's only the price that is disappointing. I bought 5 other brands of sleeves trying to find a replacement for my FFG sleeves. After I've tested all of them. This is definitely the sleeve that comes closest. I bought these greens for Descent and they fit perfect.

Great, but....
8 August 2023

Gamegenic sleeves come in a wide array of sizes, textures, and colors. Everyone seems to prefer matte textured sleeves, so it's nice to see that Gamegenic has them in almost every type of sleeve. Personally, I think Gamegenic sleeves are great, but I wish they were just a bit thicker, or offered a thicker option. Unfortunately, companies that have thicker sleeves don't have the same selection of sizes that Gamegenic has.

Not bad but there’s better
21 June 2022

I’ve been trying to find the clear Gamegenic sleeves that match the single clear sleeve they put into their Marvel Champions art sleeves, and these are not it. While they match in size, the gloss vs matte finish is different… these are more glossy than Gamegenic’s Marvel Champion sleeves. But as far as sleeves go, these are fine sleeves. They don’t feel weak like how some sleeves separate into 2 sheets. Visibility/clarity is good. The corners are a little pointer than I like but they aren’t bad. I wouldn’t call these razors. There’s certainly worse out there… these have just enough give in the corners that you don’t feel like you’re stabbing yourself but sleeves with kinder corners do exist.

Sturdy but A Little Big
12 July 2022

The sleeves feel great, they're a nice thickness, I feel like my cards are protected and they look good. My only gripe is that they're still a little big for the cards. I used them on LOTR Journeys in Middle Earth and I hated seeing all the extra empty edge around my cards (about 1-1.5mm) but the reason I still like these sleeves is that they fit better than all the other sleeves I've put on my game. Even though they're slightly bigger than the cards, they're sturdy enough that when I'm shuffling the cards, I don't get flipping and flopping sounds or loose edges or cards slipping out of the sleeves or my hands. Definitely get these for your small card sleeving needs.

The best mini sleeves
30 March 2023

Sleeves for smaller cards are important to get right. Cheap sleeves tend to stick together at that size easily, while overly thick sleeves create a stack that is completely unstable at the table. These are a perfect thickness and the matte finish makes them less slippery and less tacky.Gamegenic proves to be my favorite again.

Yellow Gamegenic Card Sleeves
30 May 2023

I used these to sleeve the small cards in Star Wars: Rebellion and its expansion, Rise of the Empire. They leave a little more room on the sides of the cards than desired but are generally a good size. Though the size wasn't perfect, the quality is high (as always for Gamegenic). I am satisfied with my purchase.
