The G512 is a powerful gaming keyboard with your choice of advanced GX mechanical key switches. With innovative gaming technology and an aluminum alloy chassis, the G512 is user-friendly, durable, and full-featured. The G512's keys can be individually customized with approximately 16.8 million colors. Create your own animations or choose from a range of preset effects. Thanks to Lightsync technology, lighting effects adapt to games, audio, or your screen for an unprecedented RGB experience. Advanced GX mechanical switches: engineered and 100% tested for performance, responsiveness, and durability. Minimalist design and sleek looks: the G512 is made from an incredibly strong and durable 5052 aluminum-magnesium alloy. The additional dedicated USB cable connects the USB loop-through port to a dedicated input for unimpeded pass-through and data speed. Connect a device to charge or a mouse to attack opponents without missing a beat. Media playback and lighting controls are always at your fingertips. The FN button can be used to adjust volume, play and pause, mute, switch to or from game mode, change lighting effects, etc. With the FN switch function in Logitech G HUB, the function keys can be configured to perform these alternative commands by default. Never lose a game just because you accidentally pressed the Windows key. Toggle the game mode with FN+F8. Disable additional keys via Logitech G HUB. Customizable per-key RGB lighting profiles can be loaded into built-in memory for use with any system.

The trouble is the keyboard illumination - even on its brightest (white) setting, it is at best a grey-blue when sitting at the keyboard normally. If I lean forward so my eyes are directly above the keys, the colour improves to a brighter grey - but nobody uses a keyboard like that, and it is still on the blue side of white due to the colour of the material used on the key cutouts. The other problem is with the illumination of the 'shift-key' characters - e.g. $, &, (), ?":< etc. There IS NO illumination of these, so unless you have completely memorised your keyboard, you have to squint to find the key you need. Even in a brightly-lit room, these keys are hard to see - the main character has the illumination from behind (poor that it is), but the shift-keys are identified with a dark-grey image, which on a black key is nearly impossible to see even in bright light. There was no opportunity to look at an example keyboard at PBTech - almost all of the keyboards are sealed in their boxes so you have to fully rely on the images on the web or side of the box. There's no opportunity to see how widely the keys are spaced, and there's no opportunity to feel the key strike. I spoke with two different PBTech employees and asked if I could open a box to see and feel what I was buying before purchasing, but I was told 'No'. With the amount of sales that PBTech make, I would have expected them to open a box and write off the cost of one of each keyboard so that users can see/feel them before purchasing. There's nothing technically wrong with this keyboard so I can't return it to PBTech - I feel like I've thrown away $

Good keyboard for the price but there are some cons. I have used this keyboard daily for the past 18 months. This was super frustrating as it started happening without 10 months of owning the keyboard. Instead of taking it back under warranty I decided to just swap that switch with another switch. This involved disassembling the board and desoldering/soldering in the keys, much faster than doing a return to manufacturer. Now the latest issue is I quite often get an extra space or random space thrown into a word so it seems the space is a little bit sensitive now. I haven't bothered swapping the switch as of yet as it isn't too frustrating to remove an extra space occasionally but it just goes to show the switches aren't super awesome long term with heavy use. Perhaps it is just the brown switches? All in all, knowing what I know now I won't buying another one. I've always had good luck with Logitech products in the past but this one falls short. I guess I'll go back to a good old K120, absolutely bullet proof keyboards.

I noticed that they have an inclusion of (EXTRA KEYCAPS AND KEYCAP REMOVER), these ad-ons are expected since G-512 is a leading gaming keyboard. I am Disappointed that I could not clean this mechanical keyboard as efficient as I could. This keyboard is hot-swappable, yet they didnt provide the basic necessity for it. I hope this helps you and your future consumers as well.

AMAZING keyboard
30 August 2023

I bought this keyboard thinking it was cool but would likely end up broken like my friend's. But this works so well it feels like the lowest mark up keyboard. I have a small dislike for making noise so I got the linear. But the clicky one is satisfying as well. With its modular design and keyboard disability capabilities I love it. The rgb is great and F1 to F12 shortcut keys are really useful after you learn what each one uses. The usb port at the top is very convenient for my wired controller instead of trying to plug it in at the back every time. But my favourite part is how easy the keys are to clean with a strainer, a sponge and bowl. (As every key is removable) so for clean freaks this keyboard is perfect. 100% recommended for anyone looking for their first ... MoreI bought this keyboard thinking it was cool but would likely end up broken like my friend's. Only issue is that the design of underside of the keys. They attach to the button with an + shape. And they can wear out after a few hundred cleans. But in that case the replacement sets do exist. So they save money in the end.

Almost perfect.

I've been using the G512 with tactile switches for around 12 months now, and it's almost perfect. The packaging was minimal, which is nice.Setting the keyboard up was a breeze: plug it in, plug my mouse into the USB pass-through, play with some colours in G-Hub and get gaming! The keys themselves feel great with very little undesired movement. Perhaps a slightly stronger actuation force would be perfect but that's entirely subjective.Typing with the G512 is great, nothing bad to say here.Gaming with the G512 is great, also nothing bad.Unfortunately few things in life are actually perfect, and the G512 is no exception. Dedicated media keys and a volume knob or roller would have also been nice to have. Finally, the paint or coating on the keys I use the most with my games is coming away to the point that the left CTRL key is almost completely transparent on top.Overall, a great keyboard let down by a couple of weird design choices and questionable keycap quality. I would buy another one on sale.

Best keyboard out there!
19 July 2023

As a gaming and typing enthusiast, I was on the lookout for a new keyboard. I had tried several from different brands in the past but the quality and longevity of the other brands lacked. It was until 2018 in which I decided to try Logitech keyboards, after being a huge fan of the G502 (have been using since 2016). The price was satisfying as it was not too expensive but brought more than what you’d pay for. To sum it up, the keyboard was perfect. The keys and build were of superb quality and there was not a flaw in its design. The high quality aluminium build ensured there was no bending or potential for damage. Each key was perfectly stabilised with excellent lighting options via the G hub software. The blue switches provided a satisfying click for every key and lasted the test of time. I’ve had the keyboard since 2018 and even today in 2023 its as if I purchased it yesterday. Cleaning the keyboard is very accessible; simply remove the keys and any dust that has collected between can be easily cleaned out (the aluminium frame prevents anything falling beneath). The Lighting showed great longevity, as even over nearly 6 years, only a couple lights were off-coloured which isnt a problem. I can easily see this keyboard lasting another several years, and that sets the bar very high for other competitors. Finally, the typing experience is great, as the actuation distance is not to deep and there is an audible click for every key pressed. I’d 100% recommend this keyboard to anyone who is looking for a quality keyboard at a medium price range. 10/10

Great features... BUT...
4 March 2023

I bought this in 2019.During the time it was working perfect, it was an amazing keyboard. I specifically chose linear because of the quiet switches and the speed of my playing style matched the characteristics of this keyboard. I did not want a big keyboard with extra macro keys and this was amazing. Love using the usb input to plug my wireless mouse in.In 2020 some of the LED's died out. Mostly the blue led node. I also have key switches that dont register a click and i have to sometimes press it 3 to 5 times for it to activate. Basically meaning that when im typing sometimes my words have missing letters which then i have to go back and correct.

Just found my fast typing was less accurate on this keyboard, it’s exam time so didn’t have the spare time to get used to it.Overall this keyboard is awesome and I highly recommend it! Just make sure if you are doing lots of typing you are comfortable with how it feels.
