Gardena Flex Water Computer

The Flex irrigation controller is battery-operated, connects directly to the faucet, and is easily operated via an innovative external rotary element for selecting data and a confirmation button. A clear LCD display shows all settings at a glance. The weather-resistant control unit is detachable. With extra short watering durations in seconds and up to 6 times a day, the irrigation controller is ideal for use with drip irrigation, for potted plants and troughs on balconies and terraces. The "Water Now" function allows for immediate watering without removing the device from the faucet or changing settings. The irrigation controller always operates reliably thanks to "Safe Stop" technology: if the battery level is too low to fully control a watering process, it will not start at all. The battery indicator on the display alerts you in advance when the battery needs to be replaced. It can be used in combination with a GARDENA soil moisture sensor. GARDENA ensures the highest quality with the "Made in Germany" label. This product guarantees efficient watering, because every drop counts.

Chews batteries

Bought approx 4-5 months ago, but the unit has started to go through batteries almost weekly (was fine up to that point). Now a fresh (high performance) 9v battery lasts all of about a week before going flat.Seems to be a semi-common failure for these units as I had read online that some users experienced this but I had hoped to get lucky. Am thinking these perhaps are not as "rain-proof" as advertised.Pity, as I didn't keep the receipt and no response from Gardena yet.

Easy to set up and use

This timer is really easy to use. The instructions are a bit minimal but the unit is similar to a different timer I bought so it was not too hard to set up properly. Note, to set it up, you need to rotate the dial when you get the square flashing over the item you wish to adjust. Manual use is easy as well which is simply pushing the left button after you set up the time you need the timer to turn off the water.

Failed after 12 months

Worked well for the first year, but then failed. Can set time and duration but after a short period of time it goes into a default mode and will not work either as a timer or in the pass through mode.

Good
4 January 2023

This thing is very convenient and does everything I want. I've tried a few timers, and this is the most expensive I have tried but is so much more convenient. I paid the extra for features because I was putting this timer on a tap that I use often for washing hands, bucket filling and so on.I have also bought a 2 x dial timer from another brand that is working well but is frustrating to setup and use but is working well once setup. I would not want to put the cheaper timers on a tap that I use frequently.

Good product, quality.
19 July 2019

Good product, quality. A little more expensive a priori than other products. Works very well. Pretty finish. Very convenient. Too bad the configuration of a parameter requires to enter all the configuration again (the record does not show me another alternative more optimal).

Not a bad unit
23 December 2022

Bought at beginning of Spring. Has been reliable and is pretty easy to set. Make sure you follow the guide (unlike others reviewing this product) and use a standard alkaline 9v. These will last about 3-4 months, but lithium will drain way too fast.

Not a lasting product
20 January 2022

Bought about a year ago. Worked initially then stopped. Set it up again this year, won’t work at all. I had it checked and they felt it was the failure of the solenoid - not good for the age and price

Not bad - expensive for limited timing options
3 November 2022

We've bought several of these as they work well (and the best manufacturer available at our local non-mega). I've never had a problem with batteries as mentioned in other reviews - Energizer 9v have lasted over a year with two on/off per day.I've had to replace a couple as I left them out over winter (frozen water expands and breaks most things - put them away over winter!). My only issue is for something that doesn't have multiple on/off programs it's quite expensive.

Not happy
30 November 2022

Bought 18 months ago and now unable to program the start time and even with a new battery installed the indicator shows low battery mode. Not usable now and a waste of money.

Simple and Reliable - So good, I bought another.
11 November 2021

I am very happy with this purchase. This automatic watering timer makes programming watering my garden so simple. It is intuitive, reliable and flexible to use. When turning on and off, it is quite gentle and doesn't hammer pipes. It's well made and stands up to rain and sun. I like it so much I bought another on.
