This device does what it advertises. Picks up the satellites reasonably quickly. I have used it on 3 local courses. On one course, the carts also had a yardage display and the device was consistent. The clip stays on my belt very securely. I tried it once clipped to my pocket and it was not as secure. The only design issue I have is when it is clipped to my belt and I look down to get my yardage, the display is upside down. It would be great if the clip or the bezel rotated so when I looked down, I could read the numbers more easily. Otherwise, no complaints with the display or the accuracy. This was a good purchase.

This was a replacement for another garmin golf gps that quit after 10 or 11 years. My older one was bigger and had way more features on it that I never used. I wanted something small and easy to use. The G12 is exactly that and has the features that I wanted. I also would add that I don’t like wearing a watch so that is another reason I picked this product. Easily fits in my pocket or can clip it to my belt while playing. Has excellent battery life, have played 5 rounds so far with it (18) holes and still have over 50% battery life. A perfect gps for me. Enough features but not to much.

I'm a practical golfer who carries the bag and doesn't like to waste too much time when assessing my yardage. My handheld rangefinder (admittedly not a posh expensive one) is prone to not working in rain, fog, blaring sunlight. However, the Garmin G12 Golf GPS is nothing short of a revolutionary change in the way I plot my way around not just my local course, but any course! If you've got £100 spare. Just get one. Simple.

Getting used to the G12 is easy. It is easy to read and getting it back on track is a snap. It changes holes without me needing to tell it. I love the gadget, but the Android Garmin Golf app is a stinker. I thought the Garmin Golf app would be a replacement for the free app I'm using but sadly it is not the case. I would love to see Garmin partner with a 3rd party app that gets great reviews and ditch the Garmin Golf app OR (just a thought) code a new app that rivals the free ones.
I've been using an app on my phone for yardages and scoring for many years, but having to wake up the phone each time is a pain. I purchased the Garmin Approach G12 recently and absolutely love it. I also purchased the carabiner lanyard for it and hang it on my golf bag so I can see it as I walk behind my motorized push cart. The numbers are large and can be seen from quite a distance away. I have only used it on two courses so far, but it is just as accurate as my phone app and has distances to layups and hazards. I love that it automatically switches holes. Well worth the cost IMHO.
I bought this a month ago and took it out on a few rounds. The features were easy to figure out, and it was the perfect aid I felt I needed to help judge distances. I also liked keeping score with it. But, I felt a little distracted with it clipped to me - even while having it tucked into a pocket (I used a strap-like clip to hook it to a belt loop, which provided enough length to tuck this into a pocket). The option to clip it to my belt seemed tedious - you have to go to settings and change the screen orientation, and you can't just glance down at it. You have to grab and flip it up to read it. So, I clipped it to my bag, but even then, I fumbled with it when checking distances and sometimes forgot to enter my score after each hole. Last week, I ordered a watch (the Garmin S40), and I couldn't be happier. All the same, features are there, and more - color screen, touchscreen, weather, sunrise/set, step counter. Oddly enough, if this G12 had a touchscreen and a couple of the S40's features, it would be more enjoyable to use - more like a watch without the strap, which is closer to the experience I expected. This has enough built into it to make it an excellent first device, but I turned too quickly to the realization that I wanted a little bit more.
I bought the Garmin Approach G12 to replace a Garmin Approach S1 that had served me well, but the band was broken and I was having real difficulty charging it. The G12 is wonderful! It is nice to have distances to layups, doglegs, hazards, etc. So far, it charges and locates the courses quickly. I'm not fond of the clip on the back to attach it to a pocket, so purchased a fob and carabiner clip (sold for the G10) that gives me a little more peace of mind and mobility of use. I am very pleased with the purchase, and trust it will last for many, many years.
Received this for Christmas to replace my voice caddy.I can’t figure the best place to put it. Clipping it to my belt, I am constantly unclipping, clipping. The best place so far is in my pocket. Not very desirable.Secondly if I’m on a tee box the yardage is different than my partner using a Garmin watch. Up to 4-5 yds different
I've tried apps on my phone and the Garmin Approach, when paired with the Approach CT10 trackers, work wonderfully. When golfing, I wear the Approach 12 on my hip and it's so lightweight that I forget it's there. This isn't an exaggeration and I honestly wished it weighed a little more. I think the button should provide more tension but they are nice and I wonder how many presses/actuations it can handle in the long run. Added heft would make it feel even more premium but I don't fear it will break since it's well-built as it is.Tracking of score is simple and tracking distances even more fine-tuned when paired with the CT trackers. For the price, this is well worth it. On sale, it's a no brainer.
I bought this about 2 weeks ago. I put in the 18 holes of golf and after 9 holes the G12 does not display the back or front green distance. It only shows the middle. Normally when I get to the green it will ask me for my score and that does not even work. I have to manually enter my score and go to setting to go to next hole. It continues to have that problem until I end the round and then enter the 9 holes again.
