Absolutely love this watch! I consider myself a watch addict and wear/rotate several watches…until now. The only watch I wear now is my Garmin Approach S70 47mm. Lots of great, other than golf, features. Easy to see while on the course extremely accurate distance readings and way easier than other tracking equipment. I had been using Golf Pad (another good product) but having to scan each club with my phone became a real pain and I just stopped doing/using it.This watch matched up with the Approach CT10 sensors is FREAKING AWESOME. A little pricey with the whole package, but I think it’s worth it. Easy setup, then go play golf and it tracks everything with absolutely no extra effort so you can focus on your round. Now, I just need to get better at golf! LolHere’s ... MoreAbsolutely love this watch! I consider myself a watch addict and wear/rotate several watches…until now. I play golf, a decent amount of golf. Live in WI and still get 70 rounds in per year. I have had numerous Garmin watches over the past couple years. The biggest complaint, for me, has always been the brightness of the screen. Well, problem solved with the S70, it is incredibly bright. I used to also only wear my Garmin during golf, the S70 is now my daily wear, the Samsung has been sold, and I have no desire to get it back. While my previous S62 was a really nice watch, the S70 is amazing. The suggested pin distance that was close before is highly accurate now. Kudos to the fine folks at Garmin for creating an incredible, stylish, and helpful watch.

Pros- Nice style and design, great display, great battery life, lightweight.Cons - A bit expensive, Bluetooth seems weak and loses connection frequently. So I've had this watch for about 6 weeks now, I think. I intentionally waited before reviewing so I could be as fair as possible. I have had multiple garmin watches and I really like garmin's products. I bought this to replace my Fenix 6S (Which I really liked, but I like new tech). Going to the S70 made sense for me because I like to use my watch for GPS when golfing, and Garmin has a top notch product for golf watches, and I will say that this watch does not disappoint in that area. My issues aren't with that but more so of the simple connectivity to my phone. I have an iPhone 14 Pro, and I had some trouble ... I have an iPhone 14 Pro, and I had some trouble originally getting the watch to fully connect using the connect app that I've had always used. Garmin does have support and they helped me resolve that issue and I have all my functions working on the App. The bluetooth, however, will connect and disconnect frequently and especially if my phone is over 10' away from my watch. My Fenix watch could easily be 60+ feet away. Also, for whatever reason, the phone (text, call, etc.) notifications will stop coming through and I may have to restart my watch or phone to get it resolved. I feel like they will probably do a software update at some point but for now it's really annoying. I'll continue to use this watch and hope to figure out a way to keep the connection solid and/or Garmin fixes this. I've also used this for other activities and it works well.

I've been on the fence with purchasing a Garmin watch for a while. I was looking at both the previous Epix and Fenix to replace my iWatch. My iWatch seemed decent at doing a little bit of everything including replacing my cell phone when needed, but it was getting long in the tooth and the battery sucked the older it got. The Epix and Fenix seemed like great optinons, but for that kind of money I wanted more from the golf side. My iWatch would pair with Arccos, but couldn't make it a whole round before dying. As someone who works out, the S70 appealed to me. I've had it for about 3 weeks now and it is amazing. It not only has great fitness tracking but the golf tracking will blow your mind. It has worked flawlessly. I've played multiple rounds in a day and the battery was still around the 70% mark. I used to need to charge my iWatch nightly, not the S70. It will go for days and days without needing a charge. This includes daily GPS-tracked runs and multiple rounds of golf. I have not missed my iWatch at all. The Approach S70 is amazing.
I haven't had a Garmin watch since my Forerunner 220, so keep that in mind. Here are my thoughts on the S70.Pros:Battery Life - even playing a couple rounds of golf a week, it easily lasts a week and a half to two weeks.Screen - The new screen on the S70 is awesome. It's clear and easy to read. My buddy has an S62 and it isn't nearly as crisp.Golf Features - I bought the club sensors as well and love the integration. It has been fun looking at my stats and I believe it will make me more conscious of my golf game.Sleep Tracking - Waking up to my Morning Report is awesome. Having that quick snapshot of how I slept is making me think more about my bedtime routine.Other Features - I haven't tried many of the other features, but I look forward to the ... I do wear it all day, but I can't seem to find a hole in the band that fits well. I'm between slots, so I'm constantly adjusting the band. And the band holder things slide down the band frequently, so the extra band will flop around.iOS Integration - The integration with my iPhone isn't great. You can view notifications, but it is a bit clunky to clear them. You also can't get more details on notifications. Also, you can't reply to messages from the watch. With phone calls, you can accept on the watch but not physically speak to someone through the watch.Music Control - I use Spotify, so I added the app to the watch. However, it wouldn't allow me to pause the track, skip, etc. So, I switched back to the basic music controls through the watch and that worked. It would be nice if it was easier to get to the Music Controls.I'm sure there's more that I am forgetting, but I would recommend this watch to anyone, especially golfers. I wish they would work on some of the ease of use, but I do love the watch.
The watch performed most of its functions pretty well. On the health side I liked the Body Battery report, but the sleep tracker kicked in when I went to bed and thought I was asleep when I was reading for an hour.On the golf side the GPS was inconsistent for me. I tested it with a ShotScope X5 and often they were 5 yards out of sync, but they were 'wrong' on an equal number of occassions.I added CT10 sensors to my putter and wedges, but even then the data was compromised due to not beign able to accurately tag the pin location. On the backend, the iphone app is awful. It was very difficult to update your round and it provides very little in terms of actionable data. ShotScope and Arcoss are way ahead in Shots Gained data.I returned it and have settled on an ... I was really looking forward to this product and the upgraded new features over the s62 which I absolutely love but was a bit disappointed to be honest. I got this watch just before a golf trip, I made sure the software was up to date and I downloaded the courses I would be playing. Sadly, somehow, on two of the three courses I played the yardages were off…way off…like 80+ yards off.I ended the round, restarted everything, even changed tee boxes I would be playing (even though that doesn’t make a difference since the watch uses gps location and tee boxes are always being moved around) but I could not get the yardage to match up to what I knew the distances were based on my laser rangefinder. It would not even correct itself as I moved toward the pin after the tee ... It would not even correct itself as I moved toward the pin after the tee shot. It’s almost as if the map data was fixed and pre loaded into the watch. The feature I was really looking forward to was the “plays like” distance. Again using my laser rangefinder which accounts for slope the watch was way off, even the wind direction was wrong. If I had trusted those yardages on the watch it would’ve been a horrific round but thankfully I had my laser. I had the same issues with my home course as well which is really upsetting. On the bright side I will say that this is an excellent smart watch. A ton of health features and metrics as well as activity tracking and smart phone notifications. I am also blown away by the display and even more, the battery life is excellent. It seems that garmin nailed the other features but failed in what this watch’s primary function is…a golf watch! My s62 never let me down and I don’t know why this watch has, I just assumed they took the golf coding and programming from the 62 and put in the 70 with the added features (I’m definitely not a programmer so I could be completely wrong lol).I’m hoping this is a known issue to Garmin and there will be a software update that will fix these issues because for the price, I expected a lot more performance.
I've had my S70 for about 3 weeks now. This is the 3rd Garmin golf watch I've used in the last 8 years. My previous watch was the S60 which is a solid watch but the S70 is more like an Apple watch with the multitude of features. What I'm most impressed with is the battery's life. When I first got my S70, I fully charged it. I wear it 24/7 and played 54 holes of golf in the first week and a half. I still had about 40% battery life remaining. Also is much quicker at synching up with the GPS before starting a round than the S60. Sometimes it would take the S60 2 to 3 minutes to start golf mode. The S70 takes about 15 to 30 seconds. A little pricey compared to other Garmin models but if you play a lot of golf it's worth it. I think it's worth the extra $$$ over the S62. ... MoreI've had my S70 for about 3 weeks now. The new approach S70 is seriously the best GPS golf watch out there now. At $800, it's pricey but should last you for years and years and years. Understand that Garmin is always going to be pushing software and feature updates over the next several years. There are options to get better accuracy (but does affect battery). The map feature is very easy to use. If you have to have more course/hole detail, then you'll need to use your phone or tablet, but for me, the onboard watch map is plenty to direct myself and guide myself around to the green (and stay away from hazards). The good news is you DO NOT have to purchase the CT10 club sensors. You really don't need to. You will need to manually input the club thru the watch, but that's very, very easy.....and saves you ... I wish Garmin would develop golf club sensors similar to the Gen2 Shot Scope sensors (smaller, thinner, cheaper and do not need batteries). That would be nice.
So far it has been a very accurate and colorful GPS watch. Love the new colors and display. It appears to be a tad quicker than my old S60. It has a lot of capabilities...some features, I'll never use. I like the yardage, drive arc, and little reminder to tally up your score by a simple vibration on the wrist. I also like knowing how many miles you walk per 18. Other features include pulse/heart rate, etc. Nice, but probably won't use them on a regular basis. Battery life is longer. And the sync between the watch and Garmin Golf is quick...like seeing every shot on every hold in the Golf app. Good purchase, but pricey. Guess it's worth it...have not use the "caddy" feature. I play 150 rounds a year...so, some of the features are nice, but not necessary. I use it for ... MoreSo far it has been a very accurate and colorful GPS watch. Love the new colors and display.
