I bought this dash cam to replace my old Garmin dash cam 45 that sadly had to be put to rest. I’ve had the new one for about a week, I like the new app it uses a lot more than the VIRB one. It’s easy to use like my first one. I stuck with garmin since I like their products.But any dash cam is good to have, my old dash cam saved me a lot of headache when someone lost control in super crappy snowy/freezing rain weather. If I didn’t have footage of what happened I would have automatically been at fault till they could prove I wasn’t.

The user experience of the camera is great too because you can easily dismount the dash cam off the magnetic mount if you need to be and the mount is as unobtrusive as can be.I was originally worried that the camera would have an always-on display which I preferred not to have but the camera screen can actually turn off by itself after a minute of driving which pretty much happens once you get your vehicle going down the road.Overall, if you're looking for a high quality, easy-to-use dash cam that is both very compact and discreet and not distracting for you while driving, whilst having plenty of extra features like voice control or the safety alerts on the camera, you can't go wrong with the Garmin 57w.
I have a Dash Cam 57 and a Dash Cam Mini 2. The camera produces nice video, but the connections with the Drive app on my iPhone 14 Pro are frustratingly flakey. I've spent a lot of time repairing connections and getting dropped connections when I'm trying to export video. The only reliable method to export video is to take out the SD card and copy the contents to the computer. The picture-in-picture multi-camera feature therefore doesn't work, as it's impossible to achieve and maintain a connection with both cameras at the same time. Both cameras have the latest firmware so I don't think the live view and PiP features are ready for prime time.
I previously have a Garmin Dash Cam 55 which was dying with a faulty sensor, so I bought this newer model 57. It's installed center of the dash in mild March temperatures. The device overheated after a week and I wasn't able to turn it on until it cooled down several hours later. It's not even summer yet and it's already overheating from mild sun and winter temperature, so I don't want to risk not having the camera suddenly in the summer. I have since returned the purchase and will be looking for another brand instead.
I've had this dash cam for over a month. I like it. The video is clear. If I hit a pothole (an incident), it automatically saves a clip, which is nice. The auto save videos are short, but the full video is still available to be saved offline if needed. It also alerts when speed/red light cameras are coming up. The app is ok, but I don't use it often since you have to be with the camera in order for the app to connect to the camera. There are a few features I would change/upgrade, but nothing that is a deal breaker. Overall, I would recommend this model and would purchase it again.
We purchased this recently to use in a motorhome. On our last trip, it worked well for recording and we liked the driver assist warnings that that were triggered by road conditions. We had a problem with the voice commands while driving. In the motorhome the windshield mount was about 4' + away from the driver; the sound level was also somewhat masked by road noise. The voice commands would not work when driving but would work ok when stopped. The promo material I had viewed had shown the benefits of using Garmin Dash Cam Player to view the recordings; when I tried to download the viewer, it shows to have been discontinued.

Everything works fine.However, I notice some issues (not problems) that could be improved.1. Very snug cable attachment discourages regular disconnect and reconnect despite the handy magnetic mount. Fortunately, I park mostly inside my private garage. I tend to leave it always attached, thereby the Mini might be sufficient if not for its 1080 resolution.
