I cannot recommend this dive smart watch enough I am so pleased with it! I needed a new dive computer and I had been considering a smart watch for a while, and after researching I was really pleased that this gave me the best of both worlds and also had really excellent reviews!Varuste was also super quick to deliver and I like how easy the website is to navigate I will def order from here again

I have been now divong with Garmin G1 around 20 times. The dive computer is really good. I have problen to see near (age) but the computer screen was much better what I expected. Also there is a big number option for screen. Works as an sport watch really well too. More than happy!

So far so good. I’m loving my initial impression on the watch. The material is high grade. You can outright feel that it is expensive and reliable. I haven’t tried it on a dive yet but upon exploring its internal features, they all look great and useful.It took to long to be delivered though. It was expected to arrive on december 20 but it arrived on december 29. In their defense, its probably due to the long holiday season.

Disappointing screen on an otherwise great dive watch

I bought this watch in preference to a cheaper dive watch from Suunto, mainly because I already have other Garmin products( one less app to learn) and I could use it on diving drips without having to take another smartwatch along( it has a wrist based heart rate monitor). Everything works well but be warned that, although the watch is about 42mm wide, there is a large black area around the screen , the actual working part is a small square about 22 mm wide and a little round accessory screen about 7 mm which eats into the main screen’s area. I have presbyopia ( yep - old age catches us all if we’re lucky enough) and the numbers are hard to read in anything other than very bright light and almost impossible underwater. Also it uses the older larger charging cable ,with a big clip that grips the whole watch ,that Garmin basically abandoned a few generations ago on their smartwatches ( maybe because it’s a dive watch and needs bigger contacts further apart) but you have to schlepp that around too. The battery seems to last well, the data is easy to access via the Garmin Dive app and that seems to talk to the Garmin Connect app pretty seamlessly ( I’m a technophobe and I got it to work on my iPhone quite quickly). Only other quirk is that in hot weather the Garmin wrist based HR monitor over reads my HR quite badly - but they all do that! So you may need a chest strap if accurate HR is important to you.So basically it does what it says it will -mostly well. Just get something else if you can’t wear bi-focals while diving or want to see the watch underwater.The photo shows the watch in a darkish area with the backlight on 100 %

Fantastic, I love this watch more than I expected

I love it. Got it for a big dive trip and it performed flawlessly. Since then, I wear it everyday and it tons of its features. Step counter, heart rate monitor, sleep quality monitor, phone locator (so useful!!) , timers , declining spam phone calls, reading text messages, seeing calendar reminders pop up on the watch. I could go on, it basically it is super useful, way more than I anticipated. I’m docking it 1 star because the battery can’t be replaced, so when it eventually dies on me, that’s the end of the watch. For sustainability reasons I gotta dock it a star for that reason alone.

GARMIN Descent G1 SOLAR?

Absolutely useless as a dive computer, small screen, very dim. No solar charging. Attempted to return it after I was able to try it diving and REI is refusing the return drop off after 90 days? What happened to "SATISFACTION GUARANTEED"? I don't live next to an ocean where I can dive anytime I want. I specifically purchased through REI for the great customer service I remembered and I am now stuck with a 660$ useless watch...

The do anything go anywhere watch. If you’re like me and have endless hobbies, this is the watch. Paired with a nice leather strap it’s classy enough for a night out. In the water and on land it does it all amazingly. I work in the dive business and constantly recommend it. The battery is stellar. Yes it’s a fairly basic screen, but who needs pictures and colors, it’s a watch, you can read messages coming through, see who’s calling, can do tap to pay, it does everything you could ever want and it is so nice having to charge it minimally

Great everyday smartwatch which also doubles as a great dive computer. If you have owned a Garmin smartwatch previously, the smartwatch features will be very familiar to you. The screen is very visible at all times, especially while diving, and the dive computer shows pretty much everything you need to see and nothing more. The dive screens are also customizable to have more or less info on the screens, and it has a cool arrow display which shows your ascent/descent rates. Solar feature *kinda* works, but not great. If you spend a lot of time in unobstructed sunlight, then it is definitely worth it as it can actually charge the watch by 1-2%. This is a great piece of dive kit, that then becomes your everyday watch as well. I really like this watch, it does everything I wanted. Great smart watch with customisable alerts - CHECK. Great fitness watch - CHECK. Great dive watch - CHECK. Great battery life - CHECK. Great chef that will make you meals - CH.. um no (it is just a watch after all) I am very happy to recommend this to all my dive buddies.
