It's too early to say yet having had only one ride with it. I notice trailforks don't appear like they do on my Edge 530. So for I am very pleased with the bigger touch screen . It will make it easier to explore new trails , as the product name indicates

I had researched all the various models and after deciding that I didn’t need the detailed training programs and data offered by some of the more expensive Garmin units I bought the Explore 2 for its large screen, battery life and excellent navigation features. I use it on and off road and with Strava Routes and Komoot and it’s been great.A bit fiddly at time with the various menus but I’m sure I’ll get used to them.Would recommend for all but the most extreme cyclists who need that detailed training data.

I must admit I didn't find this the easiest thing to use but then maybe being in my early 70's means I am not so quick with technology!! The YouTube videos didn't help much as they sped through the features.Having said that once we had worked out how to use it we found it really good. It is very clear when to take turns and has lots of information on the different rides. We planned our routes on the Komoot app and found places locally we had never been to before.

Bought the Edge E2 before Berlin - Nancy cycle tour. The unit worked flawlessly and I appreciated all climb feature and bigger screen. Will recommend.

Edge explore 2
20 November 2022

This is a great device. I don't usually follow a fixed route and this device suits me fine. The big touch screen means you can figure out where the side trails go, and how far along the track you are. It has a few faults that can easily be overcome . I get about 2-3 rides between charges , compared with 4-5 on my 530. Some of the screen colours are badly selected (I.e singletrack pale blue over a pale green background). The manual is up to the usual abysmal Garmin standard, but their helpline fills in the gaps.

Great battery life and easy to set up. Only used on the indoor trainer so far. Great having a bigger screen than previous.

Perfect GPS for everyday cyclist
31 December 2022

I received the Edge Explore 2 for Christmas and for someone who commutes, tours, grinds gravel and MTB this product is perfect. It helps a cyclist explore! I don't uses sensors and just need the maps. Previously I had been using my iPhone and now I can't believe I waited this long to use a dedicated bike computer. The maps were brilliant but I appreciated knowing what hills and gradients I had coming up so I could plan and adjust. The only downside could be the fact you have to buy the bundle if you want the charging mount and ability to charge in the mount. Doesn't phase me, I am happy to charge from a battery pack. Pushys delivered on price and delivery time!

You can only drop pins for your next destination. There's no way to search using a city or address.NavigationWhen you start riding it constantly beeps at you telling you to start recording your ride. I didn't always want to record a ride but it kind of forces you to do so. I think they do this so you clock up your stats in their ecosystem.PowerA very annoying "feature", when you plug it in to charge the GPS automatically turns on. you then have to wait for it to boot up, then switch it off.MapsGarmin doesn't have maps for Laos.Navigation- It provided me with some really poor navigation on a number of days (e.g. Huay Xai to Chiang Rai).- It automatically pauses recording your ride if you are riding slowly (e.g. when I was zig zagging up a 17% road and pushing up some 12-14% gravel trails).- The POI search feature will suggest locations that aren't on route. For example, I needed to find an ATM that was Souzh of my location (i.e. the direction that I was navigating/riding towards). It suggested ATMs that were 50km North of my location. I ended up using Google maps to find one that was on route and only 10km away.- The POI search feature was rarely able to locate guesthouse.AppsThe trailforks integration is really buggy. However, I never got the chance to use it out on a trail.LIKES- The battery life is good. I'd often finish a 100-120km ride with 50% remaining.- The live track feature allowed my family to keep an eye on me when I was riding. But it's a shame that each ride needed to be shared via a new email and unique link (automatically sent by Garmin).- The map design and navigation cues are decent.- The large touchscreen is nice and easy to use and see.SUMMARYI had to use my phone way too much to support the shortcomings of this GPS. In the end I felt as though it was a glorified activity tracker.

Works great!
8 March 2023

So glad I made this purchase. Now I am able to track distance, speed, heart rate and power in one location and then sync with Garmin Connect. I really like the screen size. I am eager to try the map feature now that the weather is getting warmer.

Works like it should
8 August 2022

I have had the first generation Explore and when the 2 was launched i passed mine to a family member and got the 2. Battery life is superb in comparison and everything works just a little faster. Profiles for my various bikes available too. Pairs easily with all my sensors. All in all a worthy upgrade for my purposes. I use it mainly for road cycling but works well on my MTB too. If , like me, you don't need all the functionality of the top end Garmin units then this Garmin is for you and you save money. I still do triathlons with it just do not need all the stats a top end model gives you. Never had a problem with a Garmin device and this is no excpetion.
