I recently lost my FitBit Sense, which is a $400 price tag. I felt it was great for the average individual but pretty basic. Some of its sensors were a bit overhyped and priced as well. I was looking into a more versatile do-it-all watch, and after hours of reviews, the Fenix by Garmin was the ticket. Glad I made the purchase. I use it for running, hiking, GPS while working, and it has great health data sensors as well. I did, however, catch it on sale for less than $600. I'd be hard-pressed to ever pay $1000 for a watch like this, but the sale made it worth it.I will add that there are videos on youtube up to hours long describing how to use. I'm pretty bummed that I spent so much money on a watch that used such cheap and allergy inducing material for the HR monitor. It's the one spot that needs to touch your skin all the time, why on earth would Garmin cheap-out on this part of the watch?I can see from online forum posts that I am not the only person who developed an allergy to the epoxy resin on the back of the watch. Garmin is trying to deflect and say you need to wash the watch regularly, or maybe I used some weird chemicals like DEET. I wash the watch all the time, never used DEET, and only wore it for a few hours a day, max. At this point, the watch is totally unwearable. Bought this on sale during the holidays. Ended up returning and purchasing 6S Pro Solar instead ($50 more). Have been using the Solar for 1/2 year - functionality is identical. Solar gives a slight battery life boost but imho not worth $50 difference - maybe improves from 5.5days (w/o solar) to 6 days (w/ solar). I use GPS daily for 30-60min runs so loving 5-6 day battery life. That was #1 reason I stay clear of the other smartwatches by Apple, Google & Samsung. Otherwise excellent watch if you don't mind non-touchscreen (I prefer this). Only US maps are available but there's a legitimate website where you can download other countries for free and upload to the watch. Good when you don't have roaming data plan.

I bought the Garmin Fenix 6s as an upgrade to my Forerunner 245 music. The rose gold/white combo looks great and the watch has a ton of nice features. I have an iPhone and I still refuse to buy the Apple Watch. It's extremely overrated. Garmin has better fitness tracking and battery life. The only thing I wish the Fenix had would be an amoled display. The one it has still looks pretty good. The watch is comfortable but sometimes the band does leave indentations on your arm if you wear it too snugly. Other than this, I don't have any complaints.
As a person who upgraded from a forerunner 245, I'm in love with all of the gadgets and who'shewhat's it's on this new watch. I like the different widgets. I like that you can custom the watch face. I really like the heart rate and pull socks. However sweaty and outside running the heart rate seems a little bit unreliable as you get going. But of course it is a wrist-based biometric not a chest strap so you got to take that into consideration. Overall though pretty good on the biometrics. I really like using this watch for walking, hiking, ellipticaling and all of the other upright activities I do. I do wish however there was a way that was simpler to hook a foot pod for cycling. I have a wahoo cadence monitor for my bike but I have not found a reliable distance and ... I had a Fenix 5s (2018) which I loved. Unfortunately stopped working after 4 years (died during an ocean swim)… so not sure what that means for longevity of water resistance? But I loved it so much I now have the Fenix 6s bought on sale. The ‘s’ sizing is definitely better for smaller wrists. I love the garmin connect app and the long battery life (the Apple Watch battery life would annoy me!). The watch/app definitely inspires me to do more and train harder. I love being able to track long distance/multi day hikes both distance and elevation and save satellite image maps of where I hiked. I do a variety of sports/activities. If you only ran/walked then I’d suggest the cheaper forerunner.

I have had my watch for a month now and the band has been easy to clean, doesn't scuff and because I am one of those unfortunate individuates that have very sensitive skin, I have had to clean the watch daily... so I guess I have no idea how easily dirt shows but its easy to clean and has no scuffs so far. The other thing I do to help is put moisturizer on my writs every time I get the chance and before I go to bed. I switched to fitBit after a software update bricked my device, as FitBit is known to do, and came back to Garmin because I remembered liking the move notification better.Issues that are software related and probably apply to many of garmin's products:1. Sleep mode can't be turned on or off, it is supposed to automatically detect when your sleeping. The softer ware also has a 'sleep' power mode that automatically kicks in at a certain time but the sleep detection seams to work better if you happen to go to bed when you told the software when you were going to bed. So if you decide to take an afternoon nap the watch might not record it.2. Separate power modes: You can't choose different power modes unless your in an 'activity' that allows you to choose your mode. So if your night time power save mode turns off blueTooth, and altimeter but your running low on power during the day and want to save battery by turning off all the gadgets besides BlueTooth, then good luck.3. IQ: activity detection- I have only had this pick up activity once in the whole time I have owned it, and its super sad as I used to own a VivioSmart that could tell if I was biking or jogging and it would automatically start recording those activities. It wasn't perfect but was so much better then the current software. This was part of the reason I got this watch. I have started biking many times and not had the IQ software pick up the activity so that is the reason for the rating.Overall I like the watch and am glad I bought it but it isn't really worth the full price IMO.
I purchased this watch to replace my aging samsung watch which is 2.5 years old.I really like the watch but there are a few drawbacks. First, the biggest is the fact that the glass quality isn't vary good. Within 2 months I had scratches on the watch face. It had no real abuse beyond daily living. My Samsung hasn't had any scratches on the glass. The second problem is that when driving it counts it as steps.Beyond these issues I've enjoyed the watch. I wish that Garmin could spend a few cents more for better quality and more scratch resistant glass.
Lovely small watch which fits on my narrow wrists, but smaller battery needs care in managing and won't do 4 days without recharge. Found recharging every day was the way to go if you want the O2 sensor on and exercise most days. The sleep analysis is getting much closer to reality over my previous watches, impressive. Finish is great looking but some of the watch faces require reading glasses for me to read, unlike the forerunner 245 that it replaced. Took a while but was able to get most of the faces I use bigger eventually. A reasonable compromise performance for size, as a runner I would go back to a forerunner next time, but if you mix up your sports this might suit you better, especially if you have a smaller wrist like me.

Especially paired with the new hrm-pro, I'm quite interested to test out the new power measurements in xc skiing, overnight pulseox seems to work alright, and being able to do HRV through garmin and not a 3rd party like I used to have to is quite nice. But not many workout apps I've tried do a good job on that front. In any case, I'm impressed. Battery life has been excellent. The wrist HR monitor is about like any other watch, not really reliable, particularly for exercise. But I don't knock the product for that. If you want that data it's pretty much an absolute necessity to have a chest strap of some kind. The price is a bit steep, but hopefully it will continue to last and make it worth the purchase.
