My watch was the Garmin fenix 7 sapphire solar multisport GPS.After a few weeks, I can say that this has been a good watch. I think the normal price is a little steep, but the sale price made the watch worth it. I still haven't used the watch for sailing, but for hiking, jogging and bike riding the fenix 7 works great. If you are just interested in a fitness tracker, garmin, fitbit and other manufacturers make simpler watches that cost less and will probably be a better choice. If you want a smart watch with more connectivity, you'll probably want to look at Apple, Pixel, or others.I chose this Garmin for the GPS and map capabilities as well as its fitness tracking capabilities. I hope to see better results in the summer months. The sapphire version has twice the onboard memory which helps store more downloaded maps or music. This is the standard size, in the middle. Not the X or the pro.The OS is fast and responsive. Battery life is good. The size is a little large, but not oversized. If you have a small wrist you may want to try the smaller size. The screen is bright enough, but if you want a crisper screen you may want to look at the models with amoled. If you are looking for a dedicated navigation device, get a GPS unit with a bigger screen. This screen does work, but is too small for good detail seeing.Pros:Good battery life.Fast OS, lots of features.Sapphire coated screen resists scratches.Good integration with GPS.Good fitness tracking.can be used as a GPS for hiking/sailing.Cons:High price if not on sale. Not really a smart watch, if that is your priority.Maps and navigation work, but screen is small.Solar charging helps, but will not keep the watch going (like a citizen ecodrive quartz watch).Non-AMOLED screen uses less power, but is not sharp and bright like an apple watch.Overall, I am happy with this purchase.I wanted maps, navigation, GPS and fitness tracking, and long battery life.I was not interested in a super-connected smart watch. This has many smart watch features, but it's not at the level of an apple, pixel, or a samsung.

I purchased my Fenix 7 Pro Solar around a month ago. It’s amazing. Provides me with more than I was asking for to help me improve me. I changed my diet over 3 months ago due to health concerns. I was using my Garmin Instinct 2S Solar at first with the Garmin Connect app and saw the changes as well as could feel them. But I wanted to be able to do and see more. So I upgraded to the Fenix 7 Pro Solar. The new stats I can view and track from my wrist are awesome. It gives me a sense of how to push myself without over doing it. My fitness has improved significantly because I’m understanding more about my needs. When to rest. When to do low aerobic. When to do high aerobic. Anaerobic training. It’s so helpful. The sports and activities I participate in are running, trail running, hiking, rock climbing indoor and outdoor, boxing, cycling, kayaking, fishing, lots of early morning treadmill running, weight lifting, swimming and soon my first triathlon. My average battery life is 18 days due to indoor activities. Which is still awesome. Oh lastly, the flashlight on this is such a life saver. I had no idea I’d use it as much as I do.

This is an excellent watch for health and fitness. I Believe Body battery feature is spot on when you compare it to anything else like oura ring or Apple Watch apps. the body battery really is replicative how I feel. I know that’s not the greatest feature on this watch But I wanted to mention it. It has excellent feature for sports. I love swimming and work outs and with this I can see the actual heart rate very clearly which I monitor for zone training. the surface interface is perfect. I will go on extended trip in my camper van through remote areas of Canada, Alaska in the United States and I’ll be using the heck out of this watch. It’s also also very easy to use. It’s a very utilitarian watch. And the torch on the watch is very easy access and it may sound small, but I use this feature all the time every night

I never thought I'd use the flashlight so frequently; it's officially retired my smartphone's!I bought the watch a few months ago and use it 5-6 days a week during my 2-2.5 hour CrossFit sessions, which include endurance, weightlifting, accessories, and more. Basically, I copy the cardio feature and personalize a CrossFit activity for each session. My only doubt is that my previous Garmin Forerunner 255 seemed to track way more high-intensity minutes and overall load during CrossFit. The Fenix gets lower numbers, maybe because its sensors are better and provide more accurate data? I'm not sure, but I hope someone can offer some insight in the comments!I also use the Fenix for Sunday road cycling, pairing my Garmin Edge 130 Plus as an extended display. I've even ... I've even linked the speed, cadence sensors, and HR monitor from the Edge to the Fenix, giving me way more data than before when I only used the Edge Plus.Overall, it's an expensive watch, but I love the data it collects, and the Garmin Connect app is my daily companion. I snagged a great discount on Black Friday and even managed to sell my Forerunner 255 locally, making the upgrade to the Fenix even sweeter.I hope this is helpful for someone else.
I purchased this Garmin watch to replace my underwhelming iWatch SE, primarily due to its disappointing battery life. Although transitioning to Garmin's interface took some adjustment, YouTube tutorials and the user manual made the process smoother. The battery life is outstandingmy solar model lasts 7-8 days with regular sunlight, a stark contrast to the 18 hours of the iWatch. Its stylish design, featuring a striking red start button, complements its durability, withstanding numerous impacts without a scratch. While slightly thicker, it fits comfortably on smaller wrists, and the quick-release strap system adds convenience, even though I'm considering a different strap down the line. While slightly thicker, it fits comfortably on smaller wrists, and the quick-release strap system adds convenience, even though I'm considering a different strap down the line. The watch is equipped with impressive tech features, including GPS, a heart rate monitor, and a sleep tracker, and it performs admirably for golfing by tracking altitude changes. There are some drawbacks, like a steep learning curve and the limitation of not being able to answer calls or respond to texts, although notifications work well. Syncing with an iPhone can be slow, but these issues are minor compared to the overall benefits. Ultimately, this Garmin watch has significantly enhanced my health journey, keeping me motivated and on track, and with regular software updates from Garmin, it proves to be a worthwhile investment.
Music control is miserable and currently there's no alternative, which is ridiculous. You'd think with 5 buttons you could easily fill them up with music control features in a way that you never need to actually look at the watch while using the controls; I shouldn't need to stop my car or bicycle just to go back a track or change the volume (I'm not risking it by staring at my watch while doing that). Only three buttons do anything, play/pause, other (usually skip to next track) and a menu button. The menu you go up/down on and then select the thing you want like volume and then you finally can adjust the volume. Also a huge negative is that the watch often doesn't show the time; for example within in music control, it only shows the timestamp for the song, but ... It's a watch, it's number 1 purpose should be to tell me what is the time, without having to exit whatever else I'm doing. There's plenty of screen space, you can absolutely stick a small time indicator somewhere there, especially in the mostly empty music control screen. At least give me the option, if it's "too cluttered".I really like the idea of having hot-key shortcuts, holding down specific buttons and combos for specific things and being able to choose what each thing opens and this could also be something the music control could benefit from. However the choices you are given are quite limited, most of the time I get an idea for a shortcut, I'm disappointed.I like the customizable watch faces that are available by default, I can choose what I see on the info thingys. The workouts seem like a nice feature, but it was hard to find the moves I actually want to do and I'm pretty sure there's several basic movements missing and it just took so long to make even a basic workout routine. The watch is mostly comfortable to wear, most nights I can sleep with it on, however sometimes the sensor bulge just is too much for me during sleep. There's plenty to love in this, like the battery life, as long as I don't break this, this will have a usable battery 10 years from now. The amount of features is honestly great. In conclusion:It just really hurts to have the issues I mentioned with the music control, if Garmin fixes those, it would be very easy to recommend this watch to anybody
I weighed the Venu 3, Fenix Pro, and Epix Pro for months, and settled on the Fenix 7S Pro. I have tiny wrists and this watch fits really nicely. The reason I went for the Fenix over the Epix is that I read a review that said the Fenix is very watch-like whereas the Epix is more phone-screen-like and I love watches. I have absolutely no issue with the screen's brightness. It's lovely. And I love that it can be on dimly all the time without draining the battery. I have a stock analog face on and the way it reflects really makes it feel like it's got metal hands in there.I chose it over the Venu 3 because of the added features. I'm not the most active person, and I was hoping this would encourage me to do more and it totally does. I'm like my own science experiment ... And when I'm camping or traveling with my kids, the flashlight is SO handy. And frankly, I'm a worry wort, so the bread crumb feature when I hike in the woods with my kids is nice to have, especially since we got lost once before. It's a LOT of watch, but that is what makes it so fun. And I love that Garmin is compatible with almost anything. I've got an android tablet and a laptop (no phone) and it works with both. I'm really happy.
I was diagnosed with AFib on January 7, 2024 after going to the hospital after a brief visual loss. They noted my heart rate was 130 which I hadn't even felt. Took 4 hours to get my heart rate down. For peace of mind, I started researching a device that would monitor my heart rate 24/7 but also be much more than that. I am a Garmin fan. In my opinion they are the only choice if you want the best in mapping and navigation. I wanted something to use for hiking and walks. When my son Sebastien found out I was diagnosed with AFib, he covertly queried what I would like, though I had already been asking him about various devices. In the end, the FENIX 7 was the one I told him I would be interested in. He invited my wife and I for lunch, let me try on "his" watch, and said ... When my son Sebastien found out I was diagnosed with AFib, he covertly queried what I would like, though I had already been asking him about various devices. In the end, the FENIX 7 was the one I told him I would be interested in. He invited my wife and I for lunch, let me try on "his" watch, and said "its yours!". While it does not do AFib measurements, that is fine. What I need is a heart rate monitor to let me know when I am above 100bpm for any period of time. This watch does and DID that for me. I know I'm in AFib at that point. Its the high heart rate that will cause me problems. I also appreciate the app that the watch uploads data to on my phone. Helps me track AFib sessions to show my doctor. The maps on the watch and the hiking app are slowly motivating me to do more exercising to help improve my physical shape. I just hate that I have to take it off to charge it. The battery life is quite good too for the 48mm I have. Not a full week for the battery management settings I have set up, but 4-5 days before needing a recharge, which I do after I wake up and get to work around 9am. Looking forward to getting the Garmin upper arm BP monitor as well, as soon as it is approved for Canada, so I can have my BP stats as well in one app. I do like that it can do oxygen measuring as I have had issues with clotting in my lungs, which the oximeter app will catch. I have that one set to manual to help extend my battery. The heart monitoring is my priority at this point. This watch gives me great peace of mind knowing it is watching over me.
I purchased this watch two years ago and it has been performing strong up to this day. The battery life is substantial depending on what activity I do each day. If I use the GPS every day for various activities, then the battery power will drain faster. Otherwise, normal daily watch usage can expect the battery to last well over two weeks before a recharge.Map is accurate and I really like it on the watch and/or from the app on the mobile device. So many other functions.Negatives:- Steps for ANY device (not just Garmin brand) is not scientifically accurate. However, it isn't completely false, just not accurate. You will need to plug it in from time to time to recharge completely.Side note: Heart rate chest strap is recommended for accuracy.Summary:Overall, this is a good buy for the casual user. If you want something super accurate, maybe you need to test this out first. Check out all the reviews online for more details than I can provide. I like the looks and durability of this watch, so I will recommend it to anyone considering it.
This watch has not met my expectations for the price point and the alleged features. First thing worth mentioning, is that the watch died six weeks after I purchased it. It had 1 day left of battery on it - I plugged it in, and it went black and never turned on again. I went to REI (where I purchased the watch to begin with) and had it replaced... with the intent of giving this watch another try. And honestly, the watch and the Garmin Connect interface misses the mark on a few things that really mattered to me. First, the actual road GPS is "off" and under-tracks mileage my .10 of a mile for each mile. Which doesn't matter on hikes, but it does matter when running road races for time. First, the actual road GPS is "off" and under-tracks mileage my .10 of a mile for each mile. Which doesn't matter on hikes, but it does matter when running road races for time. Second, the VO2 max is wildly wrong, after going to a facility and taking a proper VO2 max reading from a professional. This watch came in at 6 points OVER the true real measurement. Third, the sleep data is wrong. This watch has constantly wrong with what time I woke up and what time I went to bed and every single morning I have to manually make the changes. My apple watch was so much more accurate here, that it is mind boggling Garmin is this wrong. Fourth, this watch along with the Garmin Connect interface is so annoying and needs so much improvement. Every notification has the exact same vibration on it (vs. apple watch, texts feel differently then emails so I know what I need to look down for and what I can ignore) and there's no simplified way to turn some notifications off. It just mirrors your phone and that's that, which is not helpful. I should be able to control which notifications go to my watch and which go to my phone. There's no training program for a marathon, which is BONKERS.Overall, trying to switch to Garmin has been a super frustrating experience, and between the watch dying and the data being wrong in multiple areas of use, it's not a watch I want to keep using. I don't have faith in it, or the brand, which is so disappointing. I really wanted to be over the moon with this watch, but other than the long battery life (which it broke and died anyway), I don't have much to compliment it on.
