I bought this particular model for the tactical feature set along with the fact that it uses the toughest glass and case material. It's a smart looking watch. The surprise for me is that it is not only smart looking, but very smart acting in terms of fitness features. It has a robust capability to calculate vO2 max. The maximal theoretical rate of your body's oxygen consumption. This is a marker of your life's trajectory. When it reaches zero, you're dead. You want this to be as high as possible within your age range now, so you'll have as long a life expectancy trajectory as possible. Having this number available at a glance on the watch face is incredible and powerfully motivating. The workout guidance the watch provides to increase vO2 max and cardiorespiratory fitness is next level. Tracking exercise is esy. I've already added the Garmin HRM in order to obtain access to advanced running dynamics. HRV tracking in order assess performance readiness and sleep recovery is extremely insightful as well. Battery life is another strong point vs other competing products on the market.

Great watch with outstanding features. Maybe too many features. I like the ballistic app, but the airplane navigation is too much. Aside from the added ($130) strap, not much better than a few other models. I ended up returning for Fenix 7x Saph/Solar for close to $600 less, no regrets. a few system updates and mostly the same aside from the two apps above, full Ti, and mil-spec cert.Oh, the description says 47mm, but they only make Tactix in 51mm, which is what I received when delivered. The buttons do have a nice waffle finish, and have a much more responsive tactile feel when pushed, vs Fenix. Not a deal breaker, just notable in comparison use. Wish the band was a few MM larger, though I do have +8" wrist so an outlier.First/Only smartwatch, always relied on mechanical examples like Marathon, CountryComm or Seiko. But this is feature rich and great for so many things beyond time of day.

Great Watch! Take some time to learn the features, like any other piece of tech. The Applied Ballistics features definitely need external sources of learning, how to true your ballistics and such. So this goes beyond anything you'll learn on the Garmin website and could be learned from Bryan Litz's books, as well as at Applied Ballistics. I still prefer to do everything through my Kestrel 5700 Elite w/ AB... but the Watch is a solid backup, and with practice, can almost be as quick pulling up range/target data.I DO like the extended battery life, in comparison to my previous Suunto and Apple watches. Recently took the family on a 4-day Disney trip, and didn't need to ever take off my watch for charging. With other watches, I could never track my sleep because the watch needed charging... however, with the Garmin Tactix 7 Pro Ballistics, I could see my sleep patterns and still have full confidence my watch will operate in watch mode throughout the next day.Only thing I wished, were slightly more color options. I'm not talking about red, pink, or any other bright colors, but perhaps a subdued gray. I don't like how the PVD black paint sort of wears and chips a bit... and having other subdued color options like a gray, would hid those accidents much better than the Black colorway. This is purely wishful thinking and only my minor opinion. For an average watch user, that doesn't do ballistics or need a ballistic calculator... this isn't the watch for you. You're spending too much money on a feature you won't use. Garmin has a host of other watches that has the same features, in a more accommodating price range for typical fitness users or outdoor adventurists.
I bought this a month ago not knowing this watch is completely worthless with the phone when there is no cell. I bought this exclusively to work with my phone up in the high country where there is no cell service or internet. Well, it doesn't. Pretty disappointing I have no data I can review on my phone which starts 10 miles out of town until I come back several days later. I would expect from one of the most expensive smartwatches on the planet to have over come this dumb feature when today's phones have gigabytes of storage and more CPU power and memory than a tablet just 10 years ago.It is disappointing. The touch screen works 90% of the time, but it is buggy in night or off times during the day. The watch faces that come with it are less than sort of ok, and the ones you can choose from the IQ store aren't much better. I am sure the development team could spend a month developing 100+ free watch faces to accommodate every focus the watch owner would want but left up to the user to wade through the less than adequate manual pages to figure out how to do themselves. The manual is ok, but is lacking in clear instructions sometimes, and I was left to spending a lot of time interpreting the instructions and going down rabbit holes trying to get a feature changed around trying to follow the instructions.
I’ve wanted a Garmin watch for years, just have never pulled the trigger & got one. Long story short I’ve always worn G-SHOCK’s & loved them, but wanted something different. I ended up with an Apple Watch ultra as a gift when they came out. At first I loved it! All of the health tracking data was very interesting to me, something I’ve never had before, but something just didn’t seem right to me. The data that it collects is scattered through different apps/screens, and the sleep data only logged every other night at best, plus I don’t care what anyone says no matter what you do to it I just don’t think Apple Watch look very masculine in any way. It was time. I bought my Tactix 7. I love everything about it! It was time. I bought my Tactix 7. I love everything about it! There are a lot of features that I don’t use because I’m not in the military or an operator, nor am I a triathlete or marathon runner. I’m just a regular guy who likes to hike & walk, with an occasional run from time to time. The features that I like the most are the morning report, sleep data, live heart rate monitoring, & all the health info. I also love how well the maps are integrated into all of the activities. I have most of the smart features shut off because I don’t need a tiny phone on my wrist. Biggest plus for me is the battery life, with my use & settings I’m going 3 weeks in between charges. I know I could have just got a Fenix 7x or an instinct 2x & saved quite a bit of money but aesthetics of the Tactix along with the green led for the flashlight pushed me this direction. I also love the quality of the nylon band that came with the pro series. It’s really thick & robust. I’m not sold on the solar function of the watch, I can definitely live without it. Overall 10/10 in my book
This is everything you'll ever need or want in a smartwatch/fitness tracker except cellular. Is it overkill for most people(myself included)? Yes. Is it worth it. Also yes. It's pretty big, but not bulky at all. I have smallish wrists and it doesn't look ridiculous or oversized and is very comfortable to wear. The canvas band is very comfortable, but of course soaks stuff up and stays wet for awhile. The silicone band is nice, but for me it doesn't quite fit comfortably. I need an in between buckle hole, it's either a little too loose or a little too tight. The features and capabilities are awesome and very customizable to whatever your wants and needs are. The solar is far better than the Delta was, but still won't completely power the watch. The solar is far better than the Delta was, but still won't completely power the watch. The battery life is also a massive improvement over the Delta. I get about 2 weeks out of it with night time pulse ox on and recording a few activities a week. I don't love the charge port, but there are aftermarket charge stands available and you could probably make one yourself out of the factory cord if you wanted to. If you don't mind not having cellular without your phone connected, there's no competitor in this price range, or at all really, that makes a smartwatch this durable, with solar, and with the water resistance this thing has. Overall, yeah, it's expensive, but you get what you pay for.
After much thought I went for the Garmin Tactix 7 Pro. This is an expensive watch albeit offered at a fantastic price by First Class Watches. It is large watch but that was one of the features I was looking for. I like to keep active and this watch has more than enough apps to cover any activity you can think of. Yes this watch does tend to lean towards the armed forces community but hey, it's cool having apps for parachuting, night vision mode, kill switch and stealth mode, which I'll most probably never use but are there. The built in torch is great and I'm surprised how much I have used it. The software provides a wealth of information on your activities, or lack of. It has everything you will need. First time I have purchased from them. Great communication and speedy delivery, will def be using again. Thank you
Bought this watch for my lifestyle and activities. Im a pilot, a runner, a swimmer, and an avid shooter and this watch caters to all of those things. Its pure tactical! It has gps while im flying for easy direct to navigation. It has gps ground speed, barometer altimeter, and records my flight path. Flying has been a dream with it. My most used feature has to be it recording my sleep time. The watch tells me my rem and deep sleep time to give me an idea on how i will feel after waking up and my overall energy levels. It counts my laps when i swim so i can calculate calories easily. Its the same with it recording my running distance, speed, and path. Its the same with it recording my running distance, speed, and path. Just amazing that i can record all my activities to make me feel good about doing something and going out. Next thing is its great for shooting long range. I pair this with a kilo5k bluetooth laser rangefinder and with its partnership with award winning applied ballistic solutions company i can get near instantaneous mil radian calculations for rapid ultra long range shots. This watch has got to be one of the greatest investments ever. The durability is absolutely excellent the rim of the saphire glass front gets scratched up but the glass never scratches. Its practically indestructible One of the buttons got grimed up and stopped working and i called garmin support for their warranty. Garmin support is absolutely phenomenal. I got a replacement almost the next day. My most used feature has got to be the flashlight. It is fairly bright and the green mode is pretty cool.Only thing i feel that can be improved is generational things like further miniaturization as it is a pretty bulky watch but you get used to it really quick. It would also be cool if it had some sort of sos in case my plane crashes flying and i can direct search and rescue to me but then again i guess my elt on the plane has that. An even greater battery life wouldnt hurt too but that is again generational. Better multimedia, text receive functions, and email checking would be nice. Id like to be able to fully read a message quickly instead of the partial that it shows.
Garmin is awesome, I use their avionics everyday in the aviation industry. This watch is awesome ... but, too way too expensive and too complex to operate. I also live in the Apple universe. The Tactix 7 is filled with great features but is less intuitive than the Apple Watch. The only advantage it has over the Apple Ultra watch is the solar power and battery life. If you are running an ultra marathon or nowhere near a power source for weeks at a time then the Garmin Tactix 7 might be for you. If you live in the Apple universe and you are near a power source every few days then you should check out the Apple Ultra watch. The Garmin Tactix 7 is over $1300 which is ludicrous, the Apple Ultra is $799. The Garmin Tactix 7 is over $1300 which is ludicrous, the Apple Ultra is $799. I tried the Garmin for a week, while all the features were awesome, it was difficult to change settings and access the features. Half the time I'd try to change a feature for the watch on the Garmin App on my phone only to get a point when the app would tell me this feature could only be changed on the watch on the small screen and complex interface. In my opinion the watch touch screen is not as bright or functional as an Apple Watch. I love to hate Apple and feel trapped in their universe, but everything in that universe is easier to use than the Garmin Tactix 7.
