After fiddling around for a couple of years using iPhone nav apps on my moto, I made the jump to a dedicated navigation device with the Zumo XT. I've been a Garmin user for years with eTrex, Montana and InReach handheld devices all performing well. Our work trucks have had Zumos for a year or so and they work brilliantly. Most of my riding is backroads and gravel track adventure-touring, so the detailed preloaded topo maps are great for this. There has only been one that was blocked by a tree down, which I certainly can't blame Garmin for! I would highly recommend the XT for adventurous riders.

Whoa! This is an awesome bit of kit. My last GPS was a Zumo 660 and this is waaay better.Some improvements to the useability but the biggest change is the superb visibility and glove friendly action.Garmin, you did well. Now to make basecamp better- it's so clunky and needs a complete rebuild.

Great GPS. I previously used a TomTom Rider, but I think Garmin have the edge, now. Large, clear display, touchscreen works with gloves. Audio is loud and clear through the helmet comms. I've had it on the bike for a couple of weeks, and I've only yet explored a fraction of its capabilities. The unit came with a decent mount, but I ended up buying a mount which enabled it to be centrally mounted on the handlebars. I'm very happy with it.

I have only used the Zumo Xt for a limited period, probably around 600 km but so far so good. Navigation from imported routes and using the 'where to' feature have worked as expected. Auto route calculation has worked fine.My only negative is really the limited customisation of the map screen. Only having one field available is rather limiting.That said, all good so far.

I have put several GB of music on a SD card and play it through the basic but effective included music app. The audio DAC in the XT is very good and has transformed my Sena 20S coms unit from just background noise to music I can actually listen to while riding. I think I effectively got a free comms upgrade with the Zumo XT. There are a couple of downsides though all Garmin documentation related. Garmin do not tell you this is an Android device and will not natively mount to a Mac desktop. If you use a Mac and want to transfer GPX files or Music directly to the XT you will need to install Android File Transfer (free). Garmin also do not tell you that music on the SD card cannot be accessed unless it is in a directory on the card called music. Overall a huge thumbs up from me and also for Michael at JA Melbourne who has never once been anything other than 100% helpful and accurate.
My first Garmin Zumo purchased about 10 years ago and fitted to then Suzuki V Strom 650. about 8 years ago my wife and I purchased new BMW motorcycles and had Garmin Mounting harness fitted to both motorcycles. was a great system and when not in use, the protective cover on the mounting bracket kept weather of the electrical contacts. Wife and I often used the Garmin individually. When not in use the Zumo was kept in its protective sip up cover...A really good , practical system. New Zumo has no protective cover for storage and no protective cover for the motorcycle mounting bracket. Simply not good enough. I never complain about price for such a quality product ...this new Zumo is not good enough. I am very unimpressed.Wife and I both use the Zumo when touring...
Love JA, their service is amazing. Would definitely buy from them again. Five-stars for the team, I've been buying my GPS needs off these guys for a long time. Fast, helpful and responsive to questions. Now for the GPS. I picked this up to use for Motorcycle touring (ADV/offroad). What an incredible disappointment. It'd be better to just download offline maps for Google Maps, which consistently outperforms the Garmin for route selection. I get we all want to fine-tune our settings, but the baseline should be that if you buy a device, it should work as intended straight out of the box. This doesn't. The normal 'green' route selection defaults to a 'crow flies' route option and doesn't automatically give you the most efficient route to the destination. Maybe that'll ... That works well as an idea, but in practice Google is just... better. Basecamp planning is terrible. Let's not run past the fact that Garmin can't even compete with Google's web-based route planning which is exportable across your gmail system (to your phone). The ADV riding options plan a decent route - in general. The problem lies in the small diversions it recommends to get you 'off the beaten path'. In Gippsland, that means taking the side-road for 500m before sending you back on to the main road. Pointless. It also means that you can't trust the ETA - you don't know how many of these random diversions you'll need to correct as you travel. To give you an idea of how much trust these issues instill in the user: I had Google Maps open next to the Zumo to confirm that I wasn't being misled.

The Garmin Inreach interface is fantastic, great to send and receive satellite messages when in the back country. It is a pity that Garmin's voice control system is not available in this unit, theirs is one of the most effective voice control systems I have used. Otherwise the screen is absolutely glove friendly and easy to use, although the split screen keyboard layout takes some getting used to using. It has some great features like the ability to get weather reports and to access the weather radar (internet dependant) as I was riding ... I own and use a number of Garmin products, and as with most of them, they are reliable, and up to the job, they do not really excel in any one area, but they are good at all the stuff they are meant to be good at. If it had a dirt road routing option and voice control I would have given it 5 stars without hesitation.
Do yourself a favour & get this bright, superbly safe GPS. Motorcycling is already crazily dangerous. Why add even more danger by trying to squint in the sun to see a marginally cheaper GPS? I had a USB port added to my Indian Scout so I can constantly see my Garmin Zumo XT at 100% brightness. It's crisply sharp even the brightest direct sunlight. It's pleasingly easy & fun to use & its exquisite quality self-evident. I sincerely believe it would be a blunder to get anything else. Don't leave home without it. Cheers Pete
What an improvement over the previous adventure bike Garmin range. It blends in perfectly with my existing dash of my KTM and is the best ever tool for off road and on motorcycle adventures. Clear bright screen, topo maps included with ability to use most comprehensive planning tools.
