2023 Formula Change is an Embarressing Mistake

WOW! Clearly I'm not alone in my disappointment and dissatisfaction with 53 Medium Golden Brown. I've used this product for the last 15 years but clearly this new 2023 formula misses the mark. My dyed hair was a lovely brown with only hints of red but this new formula brings out so much red it looks like I chose red dye instead of brown. Grey coverage is poor, but the very worse part is that the grey along my part and near my forehead is ORANGE. Incredibly embarrassing. Also, the bottles are crap and impossible to squeeze. If you have arthritis or grip strength issues you will not be able to use these new bottles. Sign me - former loyal customer. On to find another brand.

Beyond Disappointing.

If I could rate this as Zero Stars I would have. I have been using this color for years. It was a beautiful deep burgundy color with rich deep cherry undertones. For years I've been stopped in the street, in stores, at work, etc. by sometimes total strangers telling me what a gorgeous color my hair is. Well...not any more. DO NOT PURCHASE unless you want ORANGE hair. This is no exaggeration. Two strikes and you're out. (I thought I got a bad batch so I bought it again with the same horrible results). I called Customer Service and spoke to Melanie who was very helpful and confirmed that they changed the configuration. I'm switching to BR1 & BR2 to regain my signature color back. L'Oreal/Garnier you took an excellent color and ruined it....WHY???

Horrible New Formula

There is something wrong with the new formula for hair dye #51! It is not working. Someone needs to look into it as soon as possible. I am on my third box and all 3 have been bad. The first issue is that you cannot squeeze the colorant into the application bottle. There is air in the tube or something. Hard to explain. Then when you go to mix and shake in the application bottle it doesn't mix well and is too thick. Then when you apply to hair it turns a weird yellow color. Wish I would have snapped a picture. Then when you go to rinse hair the grey hair is not covered well and is a maroonish reddish orange. There is definitely something wrong with this product. It's okay

It's still very fresh so I'm still processing how I feel about it. Called in and spoke to customer care. I have level 7/8 dirty blonde hair, it was completely grown out and natural. I had about 50% grey, and my hair looked muddy. I picked 81 so it wouldn't show too much growing out. I just wanted to perk it up a bit but stay on the silver side. The peroxide lightened my hair a lot in the dying process, showing yellow/orange, and the ash didn't set in as much as expected. I took 20 minutes to get it applied, and left it on 25 mins after that. I could see some darkening. It has continued to darken a bit in the hour since I rinsed it (I have noticed that before with other products). I rinsed in lukewarm water (should you use hot?). New formula is NOT the same color - much lighter

I tried this new formula in April 2023 when they were first rolling it out and did not like how it was much thicker (little bits flung off the tip when trying valiantly to shake down the mix), but the WORST part is that it is NOT the same color - at all. This made my roots orange. I called the 800# last year, and they sent me a refund. The nice rep said maybe it didn't mix well enough and to try mixing the color with something like a bamboo skewer. Instead of doing that, I immediately went out and bought all the old style formula I could find (4 stores), and it worked great for a year! She also said if Olio 5.3 didn't work to try Garnier Nutrisse #43, which is a darker golden brown. I hope the Olio version works, as I won't stick with a brand that gives me clown hair.

Not very pigmented, didn't revive color

I was bleach blonde a few months ago and then dyed my hair a brown that I hoped would be similar to my natural color, but it turned out a little warmer than I had hoped. Once it had faded a bit I bought this hoping it would deepen the color a little and maybe make it a little more cool toned. Unfortunately I saw absolutely no difference, even leaving it on for at least ten minutes on shampooed hair. I have tried it more than once, and still my hair looks exactly the same. Even though the mask looks brown the one I got doesn't seem to have very much pigment in it. Maybe it was a bad batch? I've seen other reviews saying it stained their hands if they didn't wash it off quickly, and it didn't stain mine at all. Terrible new formulation!

I am a long-term use of Garnier Fructis Nutrisse Hair Color, #53. I used to love it. Now, I agree with many of the customers who have reported awful experiences using your new (2023) formulation of #53. The color dye is almost impossible to squeeze out of the tube, and once in the bottle with the developer, it does not mix in, even when shaken repeatedly for many minutes (much more than 60 seconds). I ended up with clumps of dye that were difficult to squeeze out of the bottle and when they did come out, they splattered onto places I did not want to dye. Also, the color #53 now turns out to be ORANGE, not medium golden brown. This is not acceptable. The new formula is AWFUL!!!!!

I have been using Garnier Nutrisse for many, many years and always thought it was amazing. I used to have beautiful, glossy hair and had many compliments. Then, just recently, they decided to change the formula to a vegan formula which is truly AWFUL! I am devastated! I have been crying a lot. My hair has gone from a lovely brown colour to a bright ginger red colour and friends are asking me why I dyed my hair red! I didn't! I'm just using the new formula as Garnier didn't give us any choice in the matter! My hair had gone from being glossy and lovely to dull, lifeless, dry and even sticky!!! I contacted the Garnier customer service chat and the lady said that they added clay to the formula which causes the hair to be dull, lifeless, dry and sticky!
