My wife gifted me the 3/8 locking flex head a few months ago and it was amazing - has a slim head and is able to get into tight places.Anyway, I needed a long handle 1/2 flex head for a heavy job in a very cramped compartment. I waffled a bit between whether I wanted the locking flex head or not and almost went with snap on non locking. For 1/3 of the price I was able to buy this GW, and I am so glad I did! The fit and finish is great (tolerances seem better than the 3/8, which has some head slop side to side) and it truly feels strong - I was worried the 120t might not be strong enough for a 1/2 ratchet, but it truly feels just as strong as any of the other 1/2 ratchets I have (including tool truck brands)

This review is for the gearwrench 120xp 1/2" drive ratchet. This tool locked up the first time I tried to use it. I was unable to flip the on/off pawl from side to side and the teeth inside the head were stuck. The tool basically became an over priced breaker bar. I was able to get it un stuck but it did not leave me with a lot of confidence that the same issue would no happen again.....and it did. Twice. Now the pawl is stuck in the on position and the head is slipping and skipping teeth. I would not recommend this tool tool to anyone.

I had an older flex head wrench that had ratcheting issues. I decided it was time to update. My original had a more standard length and sometimes you don't get good leverage when the head is flexed. I went with a longer handle this time around and you do get much better leverage, which I really like (of course, you also need the room for the longer handle). Overall, I really like this wrench and am hoping for long life. It states a lifetime warranty, but no details on how that works, so hoping not to have to test that.

This 3/8” lockable flexible head ratchet is awesome. It has an easy to use, non bulky lock button at the base of the flex gear that allows you to easily lock and unlock the position of the head you choose, but it’s also not clumsily easy to unlock so you won’t smash your knuckles by accidentally unlocking. The handle is very well constructed with a very high end looking finish. It is a very sturdy ratchet with just the right length and weight for great leverage. This is a must have that will save you hundreds instead of buying off a tool truck. The gear selection lever is very well marked and an excellent length for easy use. The head is lockable in approximately 9 different angles that will come in very handy. I highly recommend this watch excellent ratchet from ... MoreThis 3/8” lockable flexible head ratchet is awesome. This wrench is what I needed for a while now. I have flexible head ratchets but over time they become limp. You have to constantly adjust your rachet angel on the nut so as not to strip bolt head or come off the bolt. This rachet has a button near the head that you press in to lock or out to adjust the head up or down depending on your situation. Only complaint is it moves up easily but down a little more effort – didn’t want to strip it if was even possible. You can generate a lot of torque with long handle. The head is smaller and low profile which will allow access to tight spaces. Oh, the packaging is terrible. I hate those plastic locks. But I managed.
Gearwrench makes very nice robust tools and this 120XP locking flex head ratchet is no exception. This ratchet features two double stacked 60-tooth pawls to create the 120 positions of swing, which equates to 3 degrees. This is most useful when working in tight confined spaces where you can barely turn the ratchet handle but want to make progress loosening or tightening a fastener. The flexible 6-position low profile head with recessed on/off lever further assist with working in tight spaces. The ratchet is fully polished and both feels and looks great in my hands. It also comes with a standard limited lifetime warranty should you have any issues.
The Gearwrench #81374 is a 1/2" drive locking flex head ratchet has the fine quality of the tools that the tool trucks that would come weekly to the GM dealers that I worked at for 35 years. They had all the expensive tools we techs needed that the stores didn't have. This ratchet is $200 less that what those tool trucks sold, but if they ever broke they would fix or replace them. The good thing is that they do make repair kits for these although it has a limited lifetime warranty. The push button head lock is a great feature and the fine tooth gear in tight spots will help too. Wish this brand was around when I started out.
Suspension work in the rust belt is never easy. Between the salt-enduced corrosion and tight accesses, it's never a job tou want to do without the right tools. That is why I picked this GearWrench 1/2" drive articulating head rachet. The length gives me plenty of leverage to bust the bolts free. The 120 tooth rachet head means even the smallest movement allows me to keep moving the bolt. But the real stsr is the locking articulating head. It makes holding the socket on the end ofbthe bolt or nut while trying to break them free a lot easier. You can even use this rachet on lug nuts without an extension! Definitely recommended.
Really long handle so you don't have to root around the shop to find that piece of pipe to slip over your regular ratchet. The 120 tooth design lets you get into very tight quarters where you only have enough room for 1/64th of a turn of the wrench. For those of you that aren't fans of the flippy Flex Heads, this one's different. An easy-to-use locking button lets you release and lock the head in the position you need, no sloppiness or fear that it'll unlock on its own.Although I'm pretty good at remembering "right-tighty" etc., the On and Off indicators make it really easy to see which direction the ratchet is set to.Nice chrome finish polishes up nicely, I guess for display since I don't have any tool chest drawer that's giant enough to hold this extra long ... MoreReally long handle so you don't have to root around the shop to find that piece of pipe to slip over your regular ratchet. I decided to evaluate a locking flex head ½’ drive ratchet by Gearwrench from the HD Seeds program. The ratchet is 19” in length, with a 180 degree rotating drive unit which locks into one of nine desired angles with a push button control. I had some difficulty with adjustments, but believe this was operator error, over pushing it into the release mode. It appeared to function satisfactory once the learning curve was obtained. On the back of the drive head is the directional selector switch with engraved operational direction. The drive gear is stabilized with a double spring loaded detent. The company boasts a 120XP 3” arc to increase turning speed in tight confines. The toggle selector is solid metal with the bearings secured by a double screw held retaining faceplate, unlike the pressed in place drive units of cheaper designed socket wrenches. The head is attached to the handle with a threaded Allen Head pin in a universal joint like fashion. It is designed in a slime fashion (22% slimmer) for easier access for hard to reach fasteners. The shaft is constructed of a single piece of matching chrome finished steel. The 19” length and solid handle provides ample leverage force. This is a nice addition to any mechanics tool chest. It is sold under the Gearwrench brand name, a subsidiary of Apex Tool Group. It is manufactured in Taiwan.
