The Gearwrench being a little wider feels comfortable in my hands. From what I can tell the chrome plating looks good and I saw no chipping in any of the wrenches. Only time will tell how long the chrome plating will last. So, I replaced all my brake lines from rubber to braided stainless in hopes to improve the braking when I am towing my boat. When I first used this wrench, it was kind of loose around the nut. I thought this wrench may round the nuts. I tried it anyway. It removed all eight brake fittings with no problems. None of the nuts were rounded, all corners were still squared off. These fittings are 15 years old and has never been wrenched before. I’d say the Gearwrench flare wrenches did good. Happy with purchase and would recommend.

If you turn wrenches for a living, a set of flare nut wrenches or crows foot can get you out of some tough situations easily. This set of Gearwrench flare nut wrenches does you one better by adding a flex head to each end of the wrenches. Some folks prefer the fixed head version of these wrenches due to their dislike of flex head wrenches but I haven't had any issues with them. In fact the flex head design gives the tool a greater versatility when working in areas that are restricted, such as working on brake lines and small hydraulic fittings where many times, a straight wrench simply will not access. This set is well worth the investment and Will save you lots of frustration from rounding off small fittings.

These wrenches are an absolute time saver. After using non flex line wrenches, and crows foot line wrenches for years, struggling with those hard to reach power steering lines on racks, transmission cooler lines, etc, I finally decided to get these. I couldn't justify Snap On prices, but I've used enough Gearwrench wrenches, I figured these would be good enough. And they are good enough. They definitely have a sloppier fit than more expensive wrenches like Snapon, but not as bad as really cheap wrenches. The flex action is nice and smooth and allows extreme angles that will save your butt countless times. For example I did a rack on a Cadillac Northstar before I bought these, and then a few weeks later, did the power steering lines on another Northstar. Removing the lines from the rack without the flex wrenches was such a pain, and wasted more of my time than I'd like to admit, having to remove more things than I'd like to loosen the lines. With this flex wrench I didn't have to remove anything around the rack, and released the line from the rack in a few seconds. Money well spent! So the quality seems what you would expect from a nice tool made overseas. It's not stellar, but it's adequate. The finish on the wrenches is very nice, smoothly polished. The flex joints are not consistent between wrenches, some loose, some tight. I suspect these, like other similar flex wrenches, will fail eventually at the flex joint. But luckily most people, myself included, do not use these on a daily basis, more like every couple weeks. So I suspect they will last for a long time at that level of use. They are a little long when compared to your average flare nut wrench. This is good for leverage, but even with the flex joints can sometimes be a little to long for the space you have. Keep that in mind before you going throwing away your old Craftsman line wrenches. The wrenches are comfortable, easy to use, look great, and save tons of time and aggravation.
This is a good little set to add to your collection, at the right price, and not bad looking. I bought to replace very old Chinese mismatched junk. I don't use SAE all that often, mostly metric, so I couldn't really justify tool truck prices. And while these wrenches are also China/Taiwan, they are much nicer than your average Chinese counterpart. As with most Gearwrench stuff, it is very nice for overseas built tools. The machining is pretty nice, so the fit on lines in not horribly sloppy like other cheap line wrenches. It's not perfect, and certainly doesn't fit like a Snap On wrench, but this whole set cost less than one Snap On, so I'm ok with the fit. The sizes are clearly marked and easy to read.I wouldn't say there is any real negative thing about this set, for the price that is, but... They aren't very long. This is great for tight spaces, but leverage can be an issue. Consider adding the Gearwrench flex head line wrenches along with these. I bought the metric set at the same time. They are noticeably longer and flex at each end increasing their usefulness greatly. The offset of the heads is nice, and allows these wrenches to get in places more easily sometimes. Other times, the offset will render this wrench useless, or close to it. Once again, another reason to get the flex head set as well. All in all, great set for the money.

The wrench ends have a 15-degree offset which greatly improves the work area clearance and ergonomic performance, making them far better performers and easier to handle than the average flat wrench. The first time you put one of these GearWrench brand wrenches in your hand, the head of the pack quality jumps out at you. These wrenches are exceptionally smooth-surfaced, and unlike so many other brands that are stylized with grooves, deeply stamped or raised logos and other dirt and grease collecting “nooks and crannies”, they quickly wipe clean after use for a fresh start next time. That goes a long way in keeping your toolbox or storage area clean also. Flare nuts, often made of soft brass as well as steel, are used extensively on automotive brake and gas lines, as well as refrigeration units, water coolers, dehumidifiers, household plumbing such as sink and toilet hookups, and other home and commercial applications like the ice maker and water dispenser lines that go to your refrigerator. These need to be checked for tightness from time to time because when you pull the unit out to clean under and behind it, you also disturb the water lines. The best wrenches for safely working on such fittings, and that is what this GearWrench set is, have a gap that allows you to slide it over the tube, but still get much better contact with the flats on the nut than is possible with a standard open end wrench, that can only grip them on two sides. This risks damaging them and is especially critical when working with soft brass flare nuts and flexible brass tubing. This exceptionally well-engineered and finished set of Flare Nut Wrenches gets my solid recommendation.
Another well finished easy on the hand set of metric wrenches. That good finish makes clean up easy. I always liked these flare type wrenches because of their grip on the nut. Less breakage as they have much more contact with the work. These come in a nice tray. Sizes range from 9 to 21 mm. Each wrench has 2 sizes. I've used this style of wrench when working on my own cars and machinery. They are just the right length to get into small spaces yet big enough to help you get leverage.
GearWrench Flare Nut Pattern of Metric WrenchesI like many mechanics out there have been using SAE flare nut wrenches because "there close enough to the metric sizes". We all new that wasn't really true, but we just could not justify the prices charged by those tool trucks. Well GearWrench has finally made that argument a point that is no longer valid. This metric flare nut wrench set goes from 9mm to 21mm and has made the tool truck an unnecessary purchase point. I needed a set of metric wrenches and this set is the best I have seen in a long time. First one is the finish and appearance which appears to be heavy polished chrome. The second is the size of the wrench is clearly marked on both sides and then the other features that I appreciate are the openings on the end of the wrench which improves access and then the angle of the offset that allows the wrench better access in tight places. Good design. finish and markings and in a convenient graduated holder.
This is a great set of flare nut wrenches with an outstanding chrome finish. First use was replacing my brake master cylinder. I noticed no flex when putting a lot of force on the wrench to loosen the brake lines. They come with a nice hard plastic case that makes it easy to keep them organized during storage. Sizes go from 9mm to 21mm but skip 20mm. Quality is top notch. These wrench ends are beefy and will help prevent stripping out fittings. I most commonly use these on brake, hydraulic, plumbing and pneumatic lines and fittings.
