As with any ratcheting mechanism, don’t apply an excessive amount of torque. It is best to break a fastener free with the open end of the wrench first and then free it with the ratcheting end. The wrenches were comfortable in use and I experienced less hand cramping and fatigue as compared to when I use cheaper wrenches with a thicker profile.Construction, Materials, and FinishThe wrenches are well made with a quality finish. The contours of the wrench are designed so that your palm is comfortable while applying torque. The edges are smooth and wide enough to reduce hand fatigue during use. The finish withstood grease and moisture while in use. The tools cleaned up easily. The relief to the ratcheting portion of the box end is well machined and its mating to the wrench is very tightly aligned which helps prevent dirt and dust from easily entering. The size of the wrench is stamped on both sides. The stamping is clean and crisp on all of the wrenches and can be easily read. What These Wrenches Did For MeI recently had to change the battery in a sedan. The battery is on the driver side, tucked under the body cowling up against the fire wall. This space is too tight for a socket. A standard combination wrench will fit but requires removing the wrench after every rotation. Using the 10mm wrench, I was able to quickly loosen the fastener on the negative post. After installing the new battery, I was able to use the same wrench to quickly tighten the fastener. The ratcheting combination wrench made the job unquestionably easier compared to a standard combination wrench. These wrenches were also used to check brake caliper on a pickup. It made removing and installing the caliper bolts quick and easy. Finally, the wrenches were used to install a new toilet bowl. Toilet bowls are made of porcelain. They are held to the floor via two bolts attached to the flange in the floor. It is very important to not over tighten the nuts because it can crack the porcelain of the toilet, rendering it unusable. The ratcheting wrench was a perfect tool for this because it allowed for a rapid tightening of the nut but provided the tactile feel and feedback to prevent over tightening.Increased Productivity and Making Tedious Tasks EasierIf you have never had the chance to use a ratcheting box wrench, being able to ratchet a fastener instead of having to continuously remove and rotate a standard combination wrench goes a long way to reduce frustration encountered in any job. Once you break the fastener loose, you can rapidly ratchet it free, saving yourself time. The fact that this set includes shorter “stubby” versions means you have access to tighter areas that may have previously been an exhaustive if not impossible task. The VerdictI enjoyed taking these wrenches to task. They have everything I look for in a tool as a hobby mechanic. They are well made and held up to the tasks I put them through. They cleaned up nicely after use. The finish didn’t easily chip and the ratcheting pawls held up without slipping. They appear durable and worth the investment.Who Should Use This Product? This product is perfect for the do-it-yourself-er and the beginning professional. With no skips in sizes and the inclusion of the stubby varieties makes this set extremely versatile. The wrenches included would quickly become the go-to tool for anyone working on cars. From brake jobs to battery changes, this set will enable you to tackle just about any fastener in any situation.Potential PitfallsA very important point to note while using this style ratcheting wrench is that the wrench has to be physically swapped face to face to go from tightening to loosening. In open spaces, this is not a problem at all. However, in tight spaces where you can potentially loosen a fastener head up against something, it is possible to leave yourself no space to be able to remove the wrench to flip it. While using this style of ratcheting wrenches, if you find your fastener head approaching another object, make sure that there is room to remove the wrench. Even if you make this mistake, you can slide the wrench forward onto the shaft of the fastener and use another wrench to tighten the fastener enough to allow the other one out.

The 34 piece ratcheting wrench set is a great addition to your tool box. I work on cars professionally and own mostly tool truck brand tools. These wrenches provide an excellent value. The set includes a good range of sizes to cover most jobs in both standard and metric. These are the flat wrench with no offset and you turn the wrench over to change direction. They have a lot of teeth so they ratchet in tight spaces. The ratcheting end is not overly large without the lever to change direction. If you don't own ratcheting wrenches this is the set to start with. You can add the reversible or flex head ones later as you need. If you already have the offset reversible wrenches you will still find a use for these flat wrenches. The stubby ones will be a huge time saver.

The stubby wrenches with the 72 teeth box end are amazing in very tight locations. I used the stubby wrench to remove the last stabilizer bar bushing bracket bolt. The bolt was in a confined area in-between the firewall and below a power steering line. The low profile of the ratcheting box end with 5 degree increments of movement made it quick to remove the bolt. The finish on the wrenches is a polished chrome that was fast and easy to wipe clean back to its brilliant shine. These are the first tools I go to when I have car repairs to make.

Needed stubby wrenches for a bolt that I couldn't use a standard size wrench and these worked great. 34 piece set gives plenty options. Finish is nice, looks like it may last a while. Like any other ratchet wrench, the heads are thick on the ratcheting end, but thats what comes with the convenience of ratcheting. 72 tooth has a smooth and somewhat short throw. I really enjoy this set. Will recommend.

Love this Ratcheting Set
17 January 2022

This set of ratcheting wrenches helps make my job so much easier because of the stubbies in the set. I can get to bolts in tight places with the stubbies and tighten and remove them with ease. I love the thickness of the wrenches they are comfy to use. The non ratcheting end of the wrench also grabs onto bolts for tighten or loosing without any problems. Definitely recommend this set for working on machinery for standard and metric use they have helped me work easier and more efficiently.

Perfect wrench set for all needs

I was looking forward to receiving this wrench set as I am a shade tree mechanic and needed a set of standard and metric wrenches both long and stubby. With some of the engine work I do, the regular or long wrenches just wont fit in the tight spaces. With the addition of stubby wrenches in this kit , there really isn't anything I cant get to anymore. The quality of the tools are great, the chrome is beautiful. I am looking forward to passing these along as well as all my GearWrench tools to my son someday. I know that they will still be beautiful and functional many years to come.

Ratcheting Wrenches vs. Rust Belt Bolts
28 December 2021

I recently used the Gearwrench 12 point ratcheting wrenches to replace rear suspension bushings on my car. I live in the rust belt in Minnesota so there was a considerable amount of rust and corrosion to contend with during this project. After spraying all the fasteners with an ample amount of penetrating lubricant I "went in".Needless to say the rusted nuts and bolts put the wrenches to the test. At times I thought I would brake the ratcheting end due to the amount of torque being placed on them to brake nuts and bolts free. I actually snapped a few bolts off with the wrenches with no harm to the wrenches. Given, these were smaller to mid size fasteners. I needed to use a breaker bar on the larger ones.Pros:1. I needed a 22 millimeter wrench and this set does not have that size.2. Consider making them in a longer version for more torque on stubborn fasteners. A longer vesion may already be available but I have not seen them.3. Consider making them with one end having an off set for harder to reach bolts. All and all, these are really good quality wrenches. I liked them enough to pick up another set to give to my father as a Christmas present.

great wrenches. can you tell I prefer Metric?
6 January 2022

Amazing. I got these to work on European vehicles with their tight spaces but mostly to use on commercial air handling units/roof top units. these worked out perfectly by having not only both metric and SAE but having long and stubby and definitely pulled me towards these. having two of each size worked great for suspension work and the stubby sizes are perfect for loosening motor mounts for belt driven HVAC fans. Don't know how I even did it before these. My only concern which is probably 90% me is that I did slightly damage one when using the ratcheting side along with an impact gun. so my advice is only use your own strength but other than that they are seriously amazing
