After unboxing it is set it on our level dining room floor and rocked back and forth. After further inspection one leg was almost a1/2” shorter. I almost boxed it to return it and then decided to see what could e done. I loosened the leg screws and nuts and pulled and pushed, stood on the foot ring and bounced my weight up and down and it seemed to level out and stop rocking, I tightened all the screws and it seems to be fine now. Well built stool, I would recommend it, hopefully you get one that whoever assembled it took a little care and made sure it doesn’t rock n roll. ??

Gear Wrench is not a well known name outside of the automotive racing industry, so I was somewhat reluctant to order this swivel stool. However, I was surprised @ how well made this product is. The legs are heavy duty & the height adjustment is very easy. I envision my grandson using it while we are working on projects together. Assembly time was less than 10 minutes, including taking it out of the box.

Gearwrench hit it out of the park with this stool. I will put it to use in my garage/shop for visitors who come to chat and watch me work at my hobby. Three pieces as the photos show and the piston goes in the leg assembly, then the seat goes on the top of the piston. Done. 360 degree swivel, plenty of easy adjustment , and a steady base, and handy foot rest rail.

I have been looking at adjustable height shop stools for a while. Some brands are flimsy and the tubing looks like it would be a rust bucket in a few months. These GearWrench shop stools are powder coated. The padding on the seat is adequate. The hydraulic cylinder for height adjustment is strong and works well. The assembly is my favorite feature. It takes about 30 seconds from box to sitting. I will be purchasing another soon.
I received the GEARWRENCH 26 IN. TO 31 IN. ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT SWIVEL SHOP STOOL yesterday. I put it together in maybe 10 minutes, took longer to get it out of the box. The seat is very comfortable. I like the height adjustment, I 'm able to set the height just right for me for different types of jobs. Sometimes I like to be higher to see down on the job, other times I like to look at the side view. A great seat.
Sometimes sitting down on the job is the way to get more work done. This stool is a good enough place to do your sitting while you're working. It seems like a nice stool but I have 3 issues with it. In the descriptions of this stool it says, in at least 2 places it has a weight limit of 300 lbs. Then it also says it has a weight limit of 225 lbs.,in at least 2 places. One of the places it says 225 lbs. is on the stool itself. I weigh closer to 250 lbs. myself. I know that everything is engineered to have 30% more capacity than stated so I will sit on this stool without worrying about it crumpling under my bulk. Perhaps I should have telephoned the manufacturer before writing this review to get this straightened out. I know that everything is engineered to have 30% more capacity than stated so I will sit on this stool without worrying about it crumpling under my bulk. Perhaps I should have telephoned the manufacturer before writing this review to get this straightened out. Another issue I have with this stool is that the seat is only held onto the stool by gravity. If you pick it up to lift it by the seat you will have the seat in your hands and the rest of it will stay on the floor. I examined it hoping to find some latching or binding mechanism I had failed to engage. A setscrew I had missed. But no, the seat is held on by gravity. I find this unusual. But it is a decent seat, I can live with that. There is a gas spring that raises and lowers this seat. It operates smoothly and is easy to adjust using the lever mechanism. There are zero markings on this gas spring to tell you who made it or where to get a new one when it wears out. The stool came with no documentation or instructions so that is not a source. Some other reviewers have touted how well this gas spring holds its adjustment. Well they all work well when they are new. Have you ever had a desk chair that started dropping on its own after 2-3-4 years? I know I have. That's probably because I weigh 250 lbs. This one works well now. We are going to see how long it continues. Maybe Gearwrench feels it's such high quality there will never be a need to replace it. Maybe they're saying,"Don't worry, we got your back, our gas spring will last forever".The seat is made of rubber and metal. No plastic here. It is put together with screws rather than rivets, which is an asset as if you ever need to replace the cushion part, reupholstering will be easy to facilitate. It was easy to assemble and I was pleased to see it was packed with earth-friendly, recyclable cardboard rather than styrofoam which is, the opposite of enviro-beneficial. 3 pieces, stack them up, and your sittin'. No instructions necessary.I put this together. It was sitting in the living room. My wife came and asked me to show her how to lower the seat. So we took care of that. Next thing I see, she's in the kitchen cutting apples for her apple pie, seated on this stool. Looked quite comfortable seated on it. She weighs around 100 lbs. so there were no worries on the 225-300 controversy. I think I lost my shop stool. An older relative once told me,"If someone cooks for you, and they want something for their kitchen, buy it". Advice I have followed ever since. Did I mention I weigh around 250?The fact that it says "GEARWRENCH" with a big Gearwrench logo on it makes me wonder if there are big GearWrench fans who will display this stool in their shop with pride, kinda like a Chevy, Ford, or Harley guy. I googled GearWrench Fan Club, didn't find any leads. BTW, I own GearWrench tools and like them very much. Perhaps I should start such a club. Send me 20 bucks and I'll send you your membership card. The GEARWRENCH 26 IN. TO 31 IN. ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT SWIVEL SHOP STOOL, it's pretty, it sits well, but I got a few questions. Hey! Did you notice, black and yellow? Same color scheme as those drills I'm also a fan of!
This GearWrench adjustable stool is the best work area stool I've ever had. Very easy to assemble, just take it out of the box and place the lifting rod into the legs and place the seat on top. No tools required. The stool is adjustable up and down with the hand lever. The seat rotates and is cushioned, very, very comfortable. It's so comfortable I have to make sure I don't fall asleep in the work area.
This is a really well made, very attractive shop stool. Gearwrench clearly added a bit of style to what would otherwise have been a product that blended in with all the others. But it's also very comfortable to sit on thanks to a seat that has just the right amount of give. The lift is also very easy to operate. One more positive: it goes together without any tools at all. You just take the three components out of the box (stand, gas cylinder, and seat), and press fit them together. The one disadvantage of this is that you can't actually take it apart once it's together. No matter how hard I pull on it, the parts won't come back out once you've put weight on them. That makes it sturdy, but maybe a bit harder to transport if that were ever a concern.
This is now the best seat in the garage. This stool is very easy to assemble - completed in just a few minutes. The rubber feet keep it in place without scratching the floor. The piston height adjustment is a great feature without having to spin it around to the height you might want. The cushion is easy to clean and well padded for maximum comfort.
