The Gearwrench combination ratcheting wrenches feature a 5 degree ratcheting arc vs. 30 degree on a standard combination wrench increasing productivity. The wrenches feature off-corner loading for better grip and reduced fastener rounding. The wrenches have a sleek head design allowing access to tight spots where a ratchet would not fit. The flexible head allows greater access to the most hard to reach fasteners. Adjustable set screw allows you to set desired head tension with spring washer design providing continuous head tension. The 9901D is a 12 piece flex head set in metric.

Gearwrench makes excellent wrenches. I have owned standard and metric Gearwrench wrenches for a long time and they do stand up to the test of time. The 360 flex head set is useful in tight spaces and they can be used in the home, workshop or manufacturing. The ratcheting end has fine teeth so if your limited to only a couple of inches you can still turn the bolt or fastener. The chrome finish on the wrenches is top quality and the markings are easy to spot. The wrench holder can be laid flat or hung on a peg board if needed.

Gearwrench makes some of the best ratcheting combination wrenches around. They are a bit bulkier than a standard box wrench but not a lot. The biggest advantage to them is that they only require a very small arc to be able to ratchet. This can be invaluable in a tight place. My old set of Gearwrenches had a fixed head. If you couldn't go straight in you couldn't use them. With the movable head on these you can adjust the offset angle. There is enough tension in the movable head that it stays where you put it. The wrenches are highly polished which makes them easy to clean and come in a nice rack that you can carry with you.

The 12 piece metric kit is fairly comprehensive with sizes ranging from 8-18mm(16mm is skipped). The ratching box ends have 72 teeth gears for smooth operation and only 5 degrees of arc, coupled with the 12 point drive makes for a time saving precision wrench. The flex end has just the right amount of constant tension and has over 180 degrees of range. These handle a lot of torque and hold even slightly stripped fasteners without slipping. The finish is highly polished for oil and grease resistance making clean up easy and provides rust and corrosion prevention. The ratching mechanism is not reversible, so you have to turn the wrench over in order to drive the fastener the opposite direction. The open ends of the wrenches are narrow, yet strong, which will give you more access in tight places. The included rugged plastic holder keeps the wrenches organized in your toolbox, and can also be hung up for quick access. These wrenches are built to last and it is great piece of mind that the no hassle lifetime warranty is included. Overall, this kit is a great value for price, and the flex end is a must have for hard to reach applications.

The GearWrench 12-PIece Flex-Head Ratcheting Combination Wrench Set ....well, let’s get the bad out of the way first. The finish leaves a LOT to be desired. And I’m not talking just one wrench, all of them were, well in my professional opinion, quite poor. Placing the top finish aside, the underlying steel had many pits throughout which when attempting a high luster, those pits come right through.Okay, now that the ugly is out of the way. So, the ratcheting mechanism seems very strong. There are no doubts in my mind regarding the mechanical integrity. The is set of wrenches will last years to come. The larger sizes came in handy within a week of purchasing this set. I bought the 7 piece set GearWrench 9900 first. ($35 at Menards) Then i bought this set. ($59) That was a pretty good set for me but I needed the 16mm and the 18mm that were skips. I bought those for ~$25 a piece on Home Essentials Direct. So I'm about $145 into the set and I have filled most of the stops on this organizer. The remaining skips are 23mm (this set skips 23mm) then 20mm and finally 11mm. I can't find where GearWrench even makes the 23mm and 20mm in this style. The model numbers would be 9920 and 9923. (the sets are 9900, 9901, 9902 and this set which is 9903) The individual wrenches are 99(size here) like 9916 for the 16mm. I don't think I'm going to buy the 11mm but I may at some point if I need it often. There is a set that comes with this same organizer that skips only 23mm and 20mm. It also goes down to 8mm where my setup only goes down to 10mm.The organizer is pretty nice as this is a really heavy set and most organizers wouldn't put up with the weight. However, the wrenches only go in one specific spot and that is difficult to determine. The little tabs can get damaged and at times you need to put a lot of force into getting the wrenches in our out of it. I took off one star due to my frustration with the plastic organizer. At this point i found that if I leave the spot for 20mm empty the rest of the wrenches fit ok. (picture of this included) I hope it holds up to the test of time.It is specifically designed for this style wrench and the wrenches need to be in specific spots. Therefore, my skips of 16 and 18mm really stood out when looking at it.
The wrenches wrench like they oughtta wrench with one caveat: the flex-heads on a few of them are very loose, they flap about with no more coaxing than mere gravity. Tends to get old really fast when you adjust the head to the angle you need, orient the wrench, then it flops over and you cannot place it on the fastener you were aiming for. I attempted to tighten them with some allen/hex wrenches to no avail. This is something quality control should catch or the design should allow tightening of the flex head. Overall I give these a "meh." Would I buy them again? No. Will I continue to use them? Well yeah, I paid for them. Nothing like a consolation prize you have to pay for. Two out of five stars as two equates to "I don't like it." I'm not ok with the heads ... MoreThe wrenches wrench like they oughtta wrench with one caveat: the flex-heads on a few of them are very loose, they flap about with no more coaxing than mere gravity. These are now my default tool for nuts and bolts. Easier to grab for one of these than a socket and socket wrench. The only time I wouldn't use these is if I *only* had vertical access. The ratcheting works perfectly on the ones I've put torque to. I like that the flex-heads stiffness is adjustable. They came rather stiff and I haven't adjusted them at all. A set of Craftsman I used to have [before they grew feet] were loose and once in a while would fall off the target during ratcheting. Not these. The one thing I didn't like about the set was the plastic carrier they came in. Mine came with a few of the holders bent, which lead to wrenches falling out during transportation. After extensive research I fould an adequate tool/wrench wrap that holds this Entire set. ... MoreThese are now my default tool for nuts and bolts. Bucket Boss 70004. Rolls up smaller than, takes up less room than the plastic carrier.Between the warranty, function and feel of these I confidently expect these to last my lifetime.Unless they, too, grow feet.
This wrench set from Gear Wrench is a great selection. It is a real handy metric set ranging from 8 mm to 19 mm. One end is the standard open end style, while the other end is a ratcheting twelve point box end. Not only does the box end ratchet, it also swivels up to 180 degrees. The wrenches are made of premium hardened metal with a chrome finish. I learned long ago not to skimp when it come to tools, always get the best quality that is available. The only thing I have to decide is whether to leave in the hangable plastic retaining bracket or to take out and put in a tool box drawer. Highly recommend all Gear Wrench products.
WIDE RANGE OF SIZES; FLEX HEAD w/o LOCKING — The GearWrench Flex Head Ratcheting Combination Wrench Set (12-Piece) is a good quality, good value set of combination wrenches. The flex head allows access to hard to reach places where a regular combination wrench would not work. The slim thickness allows access to hard to reach locations where a socket wrench would not fit. These wrenches also allow access to nuts where the bolt is too long for a regular or deep socket. Changing from on to off ratcheting just requires turning over the wrench. The sizes range from 8mm to 19mm inclusive. Having such a wide range of sizes means that you will likely have the size that you need. The wrenches come with a blue holder for convenient storage. The SAE wrenches have a red holder. So the holder color makes it easy to distinguish the type. This set is great for individuals who will only be using them occasionally. I have two locking flex head wrenches which I found to be preferable overall and especially in getting the wrench on the nut or bolt in a difficult to reach place. These Craftsman wrenches have a better feel and the direction of turning is more clearly marked but they are more costly. See the photo. For someone who will be using them regularly, I would recommend locking flex wrenches. For a common size that might be used often, it might be helpful to have a higher quality wrench. Overall, these will be my combination wrenches of choice except for 13mm and 15mm. The wrenches come with a lifetime warranty which Home Depot currently honors. The wrenches are made in China.
This set lasted me approximately four months before one of the heads of a wrench is stripped out. Now, three of these wrenches from this set are messed up. The ratcheting side is messed up and the heads won’t ratchet anymore. On one of the wrenches, the switch to change the ratchet back-and-forth actually fell out. This is the cheapest garbage I’ve ever bought in my life. I think ratchet wrenches at Harbor freight last better than these. Way over priced and super cheaply made.
