I had this tool for about a month now. I purchased it because I suspected that a recent home purchase had some unresolved moisture issues that were affecting the laminate wood floors and drywall. Its done a good job of alerting if moisture is low, med or high as well as displaying the moisture reading. It also has a little calibration feature built into the cap that allows me to see if its still calibrated. Tool also comes with a extra set of meter pins incase the installed ones wear out. I'm glad I purchased this tool, I think it works well.

It's great for the price but feel like the modes are backwards. The building setting allows for way more moisture the the wood. But maybe Im not using it for intended use. Bought to check firewood moisture content. It does give a constant reading within a percent or so. Good price, fast shipping

While I can't vouch for the absolute accuracy of the meter's readings, I can say that this model is easy to use and gave what appeared to be accurate and consistent readings. This meter also has LED lights that register whether the material's moisture levels are low, medium, or high. This was a very handy feature when taking reading in locations where it was hard to see the screen. General tools also provides two replacement pins for the meter, but there is no place on or in the meter to store these extra pins. So I have taped my extra pins inside the cap with Gorilla Tape which seems to be doing just fine. Meter arrived with no scrap of information about operation; for instance how is calibration verified and what is the calibration value? After much internet searching, I found a pdf manual from a competitive retailer and to my dismay this retailer's price was $20 less.I am however delighted with meter; easy to use and very repeatable on repetitive samplings. The readings are also within the expected range. Meter is being used to check air dried native lumber for various projects. I have since bought a dehumidifier to use in the wood shop to get lumber in the 6 - 8 % range before working.
Stale product. The installed battery was rusted and may have damaged the connectors. The device turned on when I replaced the battery but failed the calibration test. I don't know if the product is good or bad because I never was able to use it. Returned immediately.
I would test the meter on random surfaces within my home and would always get low readings.Just now, in the winter, I did the same, got no readings & thought meter was bad. Using the calibration instructions meter was "right-on". Wiping a surface with moist cloth, reading were shown. Ah, it's winter, humidity is very low. All OK.
I purchased this device to measure the moisture content of my deck boards prior to resealing. It made sense that readings close to the side of the house would be higher than further out where the sun hits the boards. I would have been suspicious if there was no variation It was easy to use though there were no instructions in the box.It has 3 lights to indicate low readings, normal and high moisture as well as showing the moisture percentage It comes with a second set of prongs. I think it was giving accurate readings as the ReadySeal stain/sealer soaked in as it should.
Painting contractor and i own a few different moisture meters. I like this one because it had a nice led display and will alert you if the percentage is high. Came with an extra set of contacts in case you damage the originals. Only issue is there's no storage for the extra contacts on the unit so most people will probably lose them anyway. I taped mine to the inside of the protective cap.Unit seemed to measure accurately. No complaints but for painters it would be nice if you could set the percentage that it considers acceptable. Coatings have various levels of acceptability in regards to moisture content.
