This is a small tool, and as such designed quite well. The pliers are very functional for small pliers, don't expect them to be like full sized pliers. Box cutter works perfect. Scissors are very small, they will cut, but you must learn how they work best. The tweezers are a nice add. The file, while present is not big enough to do much, finger nails yes. Knife blade works well and is easy to sharpen.Great to have on hand as a small tool. Do not expect it to perform like it's larger siblings it cannot, but as a small tool it is quite impressive.

I have carried one of these for years and bought this one as part of a daypack gift I was putting together for someone else. This was a must have as part of the 10 essentials. The pliers are not good for big jobs, but they work for most day to day issues. I like the small form factor and being able to access the tools without opening the pliers. It's simply a great tool to have.

I have the original leather man multitool. I just got my Gerber dime multitool a few weeks ago. I never carry my leather man unless I actually plan on using it that day. Its too large do you carry in your pocket if youre not planning on using it that day. The Gerber is the perfect size to always have in your pocket in case you might need it that day. I like how each attachment as a detent and it snaps into position. No looseness or wobble. I can use every tool on the Gerber dime, and there are no attachments on the dime that I wont be using. On my leather man, there are a couple things that I have never used, and I have owned my leather man for over 25 years now. The leather man Is the total to Carrie if you are going to be working with that tour that day for sure. ... MoreI have the original leather man multitool. After long consideration and struggle to pick this gerber dime or a leather man squirt. I opted for the gerber and let me say it was a great decision. The bottle opener is already open so you only pick it up and open the bottle. The tool that I use the most is the scissors it’s sharp ! The package opener it’s a new kind of tool, but it’s very useful too. The blade is short and nicely sharp. I don’t really care for the screwdrivers. The pliers are sturdy, they are a slim profile good to fit in tight spaces, I haven’t really try to force them or hold anything strongly, but overall you’ll find a need for them. The best part is a price that can’t be beaten.
I purchased this for my 8 year old son as an EDC style multi-tool. After a few months of use, we give it a thumbs up.Pros: Good selection of tools that the boy can use. The screwdriver worked well on the doorknob I asked him to fix. Was a good size for him. The knife, and box cutter were nice and sharp right out of the box. Pliers are spring loaded and were useful for inserting electronic components into a breadboard. The bottle opener worked perfectly for the boy and his friend without any instruction, or help. We tested the scissors, and they worked just fine on paper. Very small tool, fits in pocket easily.Cons: Had some break-in issues, at first the box cutter wouldn't come out without considerable effort even by me and my very strong fingernails, but is ... MoreI purchased this for my 8 year old son as an EDC style multi-tool. Very small tool, fits in pocket easily.Cons: Had some break-in issues, at first the box cutter wouldn't come out without considerable effort even by me and my very strong fingernails, but is acceptable after a good deal of breaking in. The file is too short to use effectively for anything. This tool is tiny, and is easily lost (you can attach to a key chain to help alleviate this problem). It could also use a good pocket clip. This tool is tiny, and must realize that it's not a heavy duty tool. With that in mind, for it's size, it's very durable, and can withstand a good deal of torture. We both love the tool (I ask him to use it all the time, as well as borrow it from him for my own use :-) ). It's definitely better suited for smaller hands though. We give it 4 stars only for the break-in issues.
I’ve never seen a multitool this small that still includes pliers. This is super well-made, and has everything you’d need for a day hike or minimalist backpacking trip. The pliers are spring-loaded, which helps with the small form. I carry this every day. I got one for my son as his first multitool. The knife is about what you’d fine on the small basic Swiss Army knife, so it’s as safe as you can get.
I own, SOG, Leatherman & Gerber multi-tools from the 80;s & 90;s. This Dime is the best!. Though the larger tools are also great, they are heavy and much larger, The long blade of thethe dime should be sharper, the pliers are, excellent, And the little hooked blade is perfect for opening blister-pack without risking your skin. Also; Your take of the Philips blade is brilliant much love; buts
I’d recommend getting a Leatherman Squirt if you are considering a keychain tool. The Dime is good, but is lacking in quality. The pliers were slightly misaligned, although it doesn’t impact function. The bevel on the knife was unevenly formed, one side has a visibly larger angle than the other. And finally the bottle opener really makes this tool larger than it needs to be. But, it is $15 cheaper than the Leatherman.
I've carried all kinds of pocket knives, big, small and even full sized multi tools. But on a day to day basis, this little guy is by far the best I've tried. The tools included are exactly what I'd need on a daily basis. In fact, after I carried it for a couple of weeks I realized the pliers had some small wire cutters down low like most pliers, and also found the tweezers. The overall form factor of this one when it's all folded up is perfect size and weight to drop in a pocket. When folded up it's about the length of a tube of chapstick, and just a little thicker. I took the little keyring loop off since I don't really use it, but that made it just feel even more solid. I dropped it the other day on some concrete and it did ding the scales a bit causing a burr I ... MoreI've carried all kinds of pocket knives, big, small and even full sized multi tools. When the time comes, I'll replace it with another just like it. I'm becoming more of a fan each day I carry it. Good job Gerber.
I bought this about 2 years ago and it has been fantastic. I bought it somewhat impulsively before a camping trip but have carried it with me everyday since. All tools have held up without any problems. My favorite part about it is that it’s small and lightweight. it doesn’t feel bulky or heavy in my pocket, even when I’m wearing gym shorts just held up be elastic. I highly recommend this product.
