Years ago I bought the ghd original styler. This flat iron was fantastic!!! I love how smooth it made my hair without damaging it in the process. Using this styler helped me style my hair daily without feeling nervous about further damage. I feel that my hair was actually healthier using this styler. My ghd ended up breaking after a couple months.. One of the plates stopped getting hot. I was so upset.. But that doesn’t take away from the amazing experience I had with this iron! I am in need of a new flat iron and I hope to buy the platinum + styler to try out because I hear such fantastic things! I get regular highlights in my hair and I feel that using an iron with a lower heat setting will help bring my hair to life without further damage.

Amazing new pair of GhDs

Bought a few weeks ago after my old pair (which i had for years and years) decided to give up! GhD just keep making them better and better and they feel lighter in weight now too. Two criticisms - you hold down a button instead of moving a plastic switch to switch on and off, this is fine but it actually takes that little bit longer to switch them on. It might be too stop the straighteners from being accidentally switched on but that's all i can think of as to why it takes that little bit longer. Not a major thing though! Second thing - i chose to buy from GHD website because there was a free gift - but as i was a new customer i also received a 15% discount. Finally GHD have brought the original back!

So i purchased the originals in lock down due to the ones that i had packing up on me. I have always purchased the originals for many years now & have never been disappointed. Well this time i was extremely disappointed! Something had changed, they did not straighten my hair as over the previous years of purchasing the same ones. I have extremely frizzy shoulder length hair. So last month they decided to pack up on me! I decided to purchase the same ones again as no other straightener works on my hair like ghd. I was sooooo happy, finally ghd have brought the originals back to how they used to be! Straightened my hair so well, took all the frizz out & looks beautifully straight. Game changing flat iron!

I have long thick hair so finding the right flat iron is, at times, difficult. I usually end up buying the one with the highest heat setting and cranking the temp all of the way up to get my hair straight which I know is very damaging. I was a little skeptical that the single temp setting on the GHD Original flat iron would get the job done, but it worked with flying colors! The plates are smooth and it does not catch or pull my hair and makes styling a breeze. I have used it to style my hair straight, add waves and curls and it has performed well on all. In fact, my curls lasted all day which is usually not the case for me. I use this every time I have washed and blown dry my hair (short bob) to straighten out the hair and this helps to keep my hair much straighter. Difficult to store - I keep it plugged in and slot it over the top of a metal dryer storage ring fixed to the wall, as I can't wait for it to cool down and put away. Always resist the temptation to roll the flex around the cool styler to avoid kinks in the flex. I have tried cheaper stylers in the past and they are no where as good, being more lightweight with smaller pads. The price is higher than I really wished to pay but as with most things, you tend to get what you pay for. My hair has a natural kink so this is very useful. Difficult to reach up & round to deal with the hair at the back, but this is always the case when one does one's own hair.

The original styler was already a holy grail straightener for me - so I was really curious to see how the updated version would perform! The new styler features the updated power button that the recent stylers have - which makes a welcome change to the usual on/off switch! It takes literally seconds for the styler to heat up (making a little noise when it's ready) - very ideal for mornings or when you're in a rush! There's still only one heat setting (so no temperature control), however it seems to be quite an optimum temperature and doesn't heat up too hot where you're frying your hair, but also heats up enough to create hairstyles that last (curls for me using this styler last until I next wash my hair!). It’s Good Hair Day!

I have very long, highlighted, thick, combination hair. My top layer being relatively straight, and bottom layers being wavy and curly with sections that are kinky. Now that that’s out of the way… I used the Original 1” Styler 3 different ways, because some days I’m lazy, and some days I actually have the time to put “pro-effort” into my hairstyle, either by straightening or curling it. For my thick hair the Classic Styler straightens better than it curls. If I want the curls to last all day and not fall out I have to start curling my hair from its natural state. With that being said, in order for me to get smooth curls that don’t have any creases or kink in the individual hair strands, I have to pass over my hair at least once before I go in for the actual curling ... MoreI have very long, highlighted, thick, combination hair. This is not due to the temperature of the straightener though, because it does get perfectly hot. I’m leaning more towards it being the single zone technology paired with my hair being very thick. If you have thin to average hair you’ll have an amazing result curling. When it came to taking the time to pro-straighten my hair by taking 1 inch sections, I really like how the plates glide over the sections of hair easily. It’s also not heavy, and I don’t have to squeeze hard to get good pressure on the hair; which means my hands and arms didn’t get tired. After my hair cooled it was 100% straight, with a lovely, soft and frizz free feel. This lasted all day long too. Last thing I did was “lazy” straightened it by not sectioning or isolating any of it at all… So starting with air dried hair in its natural form, I ran the straightener through my hair randomly. This is where the Classic Styler really shines! It DOES NOT pull on hair or snag at all. Not even a little! I was super impressed by this. The results of this lazy method were fantastic for putting minimal effort in! I cannot stress this enough. I really think that the Classic 1” Styler is a great 1st time straightener if you aren’t ready for a slightly larger investment with one of their higher end straighteners with more features, and you’ll love the way this straightener performs! Even though I mentioned above that I didn’t get a great result curling due to my hair type, I’m still giving it a 5 star rating - My reasoning for this is, for its intended function as their “Classic” option it does the job very well!

Original still does it best!

They were the original ceramic styler from the Think Pink campaign and whilst they're still going strong almost 2 decades later, they do not compete with the GHD original styler I've got now. Just the packaging alone has been streamlined and looks so much cooler and sleeker than it's predecessor. Safety is clearly a priority since the straighteners beep when the plug is turned on at the mains although the appliance hasn't been switched on yet. The smooth flat button that lights up when turning on the straighteners is a nice touch compared to the old switch style on my original GHDs. I also noticed a raised finger guard on the top plate, something my original straighteners never had and could've done with to save my singed sausage fingers over the years. The handling is really comfortable as the straighteners are slightly curved and rounded so fit in my hands better and feel really smooth when going through my hair. My hair is quite thick and gets tangled easily but these just glide through nice and slick! When using these, I don't get that stretched feeling or that the straighteners are pulling on my hair and causing damage. Owing to this, I also really like that it's easy to add curls and tidy up my waves. Everything just wraps round nicely and doesn't feel taut or pinched. Although I'm putting away the pink O.Gs, I'm really glad I've got these as a replacement. They're basically a massive improvement on what I fell in love with all those years ago and GHD never fails to let me down.

You can't beat a classic!

The GHD Original Styler Straightener is proof that you really just can't beat a classic. These feel like quality and make my hair look so smooth and shiny. I've had my old GHD Original styler for 10+ years and it is still going strong, but these new ones are more lightweight and easy to handle, especially with the swivel cord so it doesn't get all twisted and tangled! They heat up in about 30 seconds which is just enough time to brush and part your hair ready for styling. I have thick, shoulder-length, wavy hair which is also highlighted. It takes me about 15 minutes to straighten my hair with these, and my hair is left looking so sleek and shiny. The ceramic plates glide smoothly through your hair and don't damage it at all. I'm terrible at remembering to use heat protector but always get complimented about how shiny and healthy my hair looks, which I can only attribute to using these everyday. The temperature is perfect for styling your hair without damaging it at all. The only thing I would note is that the ceramic plates are slightly narrower than the plates on the platinum styler - not really an issue for me as my hair is fairly short and actually it makes it easier for me to curl my hair using these, but for someone with longer hair it may be something to consider. All in all, very pleased with these and would definitely recommend them!
