I have really thick crazy frizzy hair! I was still clinging on to my really old pair of GHD’s as they were fab. Bought the gold GHD’s a few years ago and was really disappointed in them. Borrowed these from a friend, and then had to buy a pair. They are actually as good as the really old ones - RESULT at last! Good for curling and straightening, can do this in big chunks as well unlike the previous ones, no need for really small sections and they actually keep away the frizz that would normally be back very quickly.

Now it takes about 20-30 mins which makes me very happy! My hair straightened within one stroke, hair felt soft, undamaged and frizz free. Hair stayed straight in hot weather and stayed straight when sleeping on it. Overall my hair stayed straight until I washed it and didn’t need re-straightening. I first tried the GHD Platinum+ straighteners on my 'air dried' hair when I was in a rush and was very suprised at how well they smoothed the kinks out - very quick too, as I didn't need to run them over the same strands too often. Plus, it only took only a minute to heat up! The second time, I used them with 'blow dried' hair, so obviously the finish was more sleek. Though I have thick, course, wavy hair with tight curls at the back and must say, I'm very pleased with how little time it takes to go through my mop either way. There's a good healthy shine too (I always used the GHD heat protection spray) and it doesn't feel dry. I bought this during the last sale GHD offered. I needed my next hair straightener to be dual voltage for future international travel.First impressions are good. Heats up very quickly, straightens hair so the result is shiny and sleek. For reference I have fine wavy hair. I am very happy with the performance for the cost of the item. I feel like it will last a very long time. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars was because the flat iron doesn't sit flat on my bathroom counter. The beautiful design of it makes it so that it rolls. This I do not like and am trying to figure out how to stop. Maybe a silcone mat that it sits on may resolve this?Otherwise very very happy with perfomance. Go buy one. You will not regret it.
I bought this to replace the GHD Gold I bought in 2010 which by the way is still working fantastic, but I was reading the reviews about this one having longer hold and extra shine, so I thought that after 13 years the technology might st be heaps better. The results are good, the curl was s definitely better, and I think that it does last longer, I don’t know about the shine though. The other thing that I really like is that it doesn’t leave any visible line in your hair of where you started to iron. The old one did, even though it also had rounded edges.GHD is a top brand and I definitely bought for the name because I love my gold and it has lasted me so long with no problems. I hope GHD still stands up to its name!
My previous ghd gold straighteners finally gave up the ghost. I dont generally tend to buy anything different if i have had a lot of success and enjoyment out f a product. But, i could no longer see the model i had before. After plenty researching into the various different models, i opted this time for the ghd platinum. I can not rate this high enough. When reviews say these make your hair shinier, it is no lie. What a difference this model makes. Love them

I have used it also to put waves in my hair following the tutorials on the GHD website, I didn't know that it was possible to create waves and curles with straighteners but because this product has a rounded barrel it worked well for creating waves. I am very pleased with the results! Salon quality hair I would dare to say. I didn’t even know that the straightener self-regulate the temperature according to your hair thickness. The hair doesn’t get pulled or snapped while using the straightener. It actually glides smoothly, leaving the hair quite shiny and defined. I love the protective rubber cap that goes to insert on the hot part of the straightener when it is not in use and it needs to cool down.Highly recommended.
