My first cordless selfcare routine device. Comes in a lovely box with nice protective case that will fit brush a the charger as well. Straightener itself is very handy and light with a hint of sophistication (as all ghd products do). Seems small enough so slide into you onboard case. Bit different shape to a regular ghd one (obviously), plates are comfortably big enough to get a nice part of your hair. You have to charge it prior to first use which takes about over an hour and then it gives you about 20 min work time, which to me is about 3 sessions. End effect is amazing as always and as expected from GHD. It will make my forever weekend away or any holidays where you have to watch the space but still expect quality.

I’ve been using the unplugged straightener for a couple of weeks now and I have found these to be extremely comfortable to use and they give a nice soft look to straightened hair. My hair dresser describes my hair as very curly and with my preference for a straight bob I was a bit sceptical on how these would perform. I needn’t have worried. I do find that a little more pressure is needed on the plates but they really do give a good finish. The on/off switch is on the outside but has been placed in a good position so you don’t accidentally switch them off. I do find that one full use equals one charge. If you are going to be using the unplugged for touch ups then one charge will last you a good while. Charging doesn’t take that long either. Product is exactly as described, my own expectations failed me as I did not read all the descriptions.Please take note of the size of the plates. I went from a wide plate straightener that allows you to control the temperature to this smaller thin plate straightener with automatic temperature control. This influence the time dramatically.Take not the brush that came with is also travel size (I expected a normal full size brush).I was not aware that you are not able to use the straightener when plugged in - be sure you are able to do your hair in less than 20min. Otherwise you'll find yourself halfway through and you straightener will need 120min again to charge before you can use it.Other than that I would still recommend.

This meant that when I tried doing a full head from scratch it took me three full charges. I had to spend the day straightening inbetween other tasks, to go out in the evening. Although the straighteners feel warm not hot, I am really impressed with the results that can be achieved at this temperature, and this is an education to me in being kinder to my hair (I ceased using the GHD Platinum as they didn’t feel as hot as the GHD Original or Max). The straighteners make a pleasing sound when they are ready for use.I’d like to see future versions allowing for longer usage with a shorter charging time, but the GHD unplugged is a great addition to any handbag.
Really special packaging and presentation. Excellent quality and design, a worthy addition to the ghd family. So convenient, quick to heat up, lightweight and comfortable to use. The styler plates are only nominally shorter than the original wired ghd styler. After use can be immediately placed in the heatproof case which is no larger than a soft narrow pencil case. Very neat, ideal when travelling or at the office. Conveniently to hand for those unexpected invitations or bad hair moments.
