i bought the 2019 model and it was absolutely awesome , apart from the brakes. the tecktro are literally the worst of the worst brakes available . i purchased a set of cheap shimano brakes after only 6 mths and have been using them since . the tecktro are not fit for anything other than the bin .i got 27 speed and it's absolutely brilliant shifting , easy nd smooth .&unfortunately due to giant becoming greedy cheap they've stopped putting 27 speed . Once they went down that road , they lost a very loyal customer

My neighbor has the 2020. He stores it in my garage and I have taken more than 25 rides on it giving me a great feel for the bike. It is so smooth and simply a phenomenal ride. So you can imagine my excitement to get the 20201. It took forever to find -- some serious hunting which involved me buying it though this giant site and having money refunded without any help to find a new bike (separate issue not reflected in my 3.0 review). It appears to have lower quality seat, lower quality petals and the shifter goes from having about 20 gears to 10. I was so disappointed when I got this. My heart literally sank after spending months trying to find it. I drove 2 hours to a bike shop that had it and when I got there I first immediately realized that the gears were all on ... MoreMy neighbor has the 2020. Shifting feels way more clunky and just feels like a bit of a miss especially with the 25% cost increase to the bike itself. It's still ookayyy and with the garbage of a global bike shortage, I don't have much in terms of options or recourse but thought anyone shopping should be aware.

An Adventure of Research, Availability Search! Reward. I ride every day out of a need to fulfill exercise, cardiovascular health and flexibility. I am limited permanently in what I am able to do physically. I was seriously injured and have had multiple major surgeries and endure continued surgical procedures twice a year. I have been an athlete, fitnesses seeker and weight lifter, sports participant and my former career demanded physical strength and healthy endurance. While recovering from 2 years of constant surgeries on my neck, back and shoulder in physical therapy I discovered that I could bike safely with minimal pain and promising enjoyment. While recovering from 2 years of constant surgeries on my neck, back and shoulder in physical therapy I discovered that I could bike safely with minimal pain and promising enjoyment. I had enjoyed bicycling prior to my injuries and surgeries with my wife and friends and owned an older full suspension mountain bike and a $450 modest Marin hybrid bike. The Hybrid became my main source of exercise on rail trails and on a quality trainer during most days at home. I put many miles over many hours of use. It was getting beat. I researched for upgrade on a higher level and more advanced hybrid Dual-Sport bike under $1000. I soon found out the impossibility of obtaining a new ride during Covid19. I narrowed my selections to 3 possible brands and models. I then found out all of my choices were unavailable local or regionally. I was really impressed with the passion a dealer/shop at Idle Times Bikes in Orleans Ma had towards the Giant Roam line when I was brought up Trek Dual Sports. He said check back with him in December as they had 100s of new bikes enroute from their overseas factory. Still, I pressed on for a readily available obtainable option amongst my 3 choices. I was told 1 to 2 years by a Trek shop. Online choices were only available in wrong sizes and local pickup on the other Brand. I called Idle Times Bike again about the chance of putting a deposit down on an incoming Roam2? This person said that I should go online to Giant and search availability everywhere. There were 3 2021 Available at different shops in the US. The closest 285 miles away. Ordered, paid, Roadtrip to RidgeLine Bikes in Avon Connecticut. Super Nice owner and shop had it waiting for me put together and ready to make any adjustments. Pleasant experience. 3 hours drive each way. Had one month now and I can't believe the difference between this bike and my older Hybrid. Faster, Smoother and far more precise in every measure! I ride at least an hour and half every day and am very grateful I can. 2021 Giant Roam 2 Disc is Highly Recommended and a joy to own. Only change I needed and recommend is a more comfortable saddle. I replaced my Giant saddle original for a Sele Royal Respiro Moderate Saddle and am very happy now with long rides. Perfect. Thanks.

Not what I was hoping for from Giant. Very cheap feel. Shifting is not very smooth under stress, probably due to wide gear range of rear cog. This bike should have 2 or 3 front cogs but has one only even though the picture online had 2 and a derailleur. I bought it for off road and gravel riding but it is dissappointing on trails. I do like the front fork lockout but even that switch feels cheaply made. Factory pedals and seat are cheap too. I actually like the frame and it's a shame there are few quality components. Seems like a stripped down version of a nicer bike.
This was a gift for our son for his birthday. His response was, “Did you guys get the sickest bike in the bike shop!? It’s PERFECT!” So, if you’re looking for a bike for your 25 year old who just landed his first full-time teaching position, this is the gift! There was such a huge selection at Bicycle Warehouse, you will definitely find what you need even if you’re not sure what it is when you get there!
I had great fun with this bike. Travelled on the Dandenong Creek Trail where there are sections of gravel, and this bike gave me the comfort, stability and confidence that it can handle it. I didn't choose this bike to go fast (can choose a road bike for that). But on days when I'm fit enough, speed wasn't an issue. I could go fast even with the suspension unlocked. When I am on paved roads, I lock the suspension.I love the upright riding position. Love the gears and especially the hydraulic brakes. There are better bikes out there, but for my budget, this bike hits the sweet spot.
Until i bought this bike, i hadn't cycled for years. I used to have a lightweight road bike but found the riding position uncomfortable, not to mention the potholes on many roads! I'm now enjoying cycling again thanks to the Giant Roam 2. The riding position is comfortable and the wider tyres and front suspension also contribute to a more comfortable ride. Other components seem to work well. I looked at various bikes from other manufacturers but eventually settled on the Giant, as it offered a good spec level for the price. It has wider tyres than some other hybrid bikes, with excellent grip, which means it can easily cope with light trails, gravel paths, canal towpaths, etc. The front suspension fork is probably slightly heavier compared with a fixed front fork, ... MoreUntil i bought this bike, i hadn't cycled for years. Difficult to comment on longevity as i've only had the bike for 2 months, but so far i'm very happy and would recommend this bike.
I'm 69 and began cycling three years ago. In 2020 I rode 5000 miles on my skinny-tire, drop-bar road bike and 2021 is on track for a repeat. I decided to get a second bike for comfortable, leisurely rides with friends and family and chose the Roam 2 for its upright riding posture, hydraulic disc brakes, medium-width tires, Shimano Deore 10-speed shifter/derailleur and single-ring crank. (If you want two rings in front and 16-speeds, scroll up on this webpage, click the Roam 3 icon, and save yourself some money!) I ordered my 2021 Roam 2 on the Giant website and it was expertly assembled, tuned and fitted by Trailblazers Bike Barn in Hobart, IN. I've put 800 miles on it (including two Centuries) mostly 45-60 miles at a time and the Roam has performed flawlessly. ... MoreI'm 69 and began cycling three years ago. I've put 800 miles on it (including two Centuries) mostly 45-60 miles at a time and the Roam has performed flawlessly. Shifting is precise. The ride is comfortable and stable on pavement and packed dirt/gravel trails, but not so good in loose gravel. It's a great choice for someone looking for pleasant rides under 30 miles and speeds up to 15 mph for fun or exercise. The Roam is not made for speed, nor is it for single-track off-road use, but it's a solid choice for everyday riding.
I have had the bike a little over a month now and I am very happy with it. I am surprised how much faster it is than my old bike. When looking for a bike, I would see ones in big box stores that were almost like eye candy, but after going home and reading reviews on them, they all had consistent problems that I would see over and over on different peoples reviews. That made me realize I was going to have to spend a little more than I initially thought to get a good bike. I didn't mind spending a little more for a quality bike I am sure I will use for a long, long time.I am really happy with the bike, it is a Giant Roam in the garnet color. Oh yeah, it is also a very good looking bike as well. From what I have read online and the local bike shop I sent the bike to to have it assembled, they both said these bikes run pretty large. I am 5'8" tall and ordered the small frame version and it fits me well. If you can go to a bike shop and test fit the size, that may be best. I happened to be in Augutsa Ga and was able to do this to verify the medium was too big for me.
Is it a mountain bike - no. Is it a road bike - no. Is it my weekday, early morning, 20 mile ride, that just keeps on going - yup! And it is great for road trips where you need an in between bike! This year alone the bike has over 1,500 miles or 2,500 kms and has only needed minor adjustments. I am 6' 3" and 250 lbs and it has stood the test. The only minor complaints are the usual items, the seat and pedals suck. But that is to be expected. For a ride that I got as a possible one season throw away, it is awesome!
