Gibson Les Paul Modern Figured Cherry Burst

This item is in great condition and is barely used, showing only minor signs of usage from display on our showroom floor. The Gibson Les Paul Modern Figured merges the timeless appeal of the Les Paul with a host of contemporary updates today's players have embraced. Burstbucker Pro (neck) and Burstbucker Pro + (bridge) pickups deliver a wide tonal spectrum, and four push-pull pots add coil-tapping, phase switching, and pure bypass options. This versatile electronics array covers vintage-style humbucker warmth, single-coil brightness, and everything in betweenperfect for players who refuse to be limited to one genre. Mother of pearl trapezoid inlays highlight the Modern's upscale look, and clear Top Hat knobs round out the clean, modern aesthetic. Overall:I have owned number of Gibson guitars thru last 50 years and this LP is at the top of my list measuring by all the features that matter. Finally Gibson did it right from plek and fret ends, attention to details in manufacturing, choice of new pups and tapered clean up on the sound side all the other SMALL but really needed things on the guitar one want to play over and over again and beautifull and stunning look of AAA tops.Thank you GibsonJJL

Fantastic Les Paul. It looks and sounds much better with some adjustments and changes.

At its core, this is a Les Paul with great bones; a full thickness LP with a figured top, ebony fingerboard, real MOP inlays, body and neck binding, Burst Buckers, and some nice locking tuners. The neck is an effortless slim taper, similar to a 60s carve and very comfortable. The compound radius feels natural and makes it easy to get a great setup. The heel carve makes upper fret access easy and comfortable, and no-one even knows it's there while you're performing. The coil splits and switching are versatile, but needed some pickup adjustments to sound proper. Personally, the looks out of the box didn't do it for me. I immediately replaced the clear knobs with reflectors, drilled it for the pick guard, and put the poker chip on. I prefer it like this. The coil splits and switching are versatile, but needed some pickup adjustments to sound proper. Personally, the looks out of the box didn't do it for me. I immediately replaced the clear knobs with reflectors, drilled it for the pick guard, and put the poker chip on. I prefer it like this. Mine weighs about 7.5 lbs, and at that weight it was ever so slightly neck heavy with the locking tuners on it. I replaced them with Klusons and I now have a completely balanced 7.3 lb full sized LP. Insane. It has coil taps, phase reverse (for the neck pickup), and a pull-bypass that routes the bridge pickup straight to the jack. So; fancy electronics that you don't need for the guitar to sound good. But they're there. Out of the box, I didn't care for the coil splits. But once I adjusted the height and pole pieces, the guitar started sounding *really* good. I initially planned on ripping it all out for traditional electronics and non-potted PAFs. But after some adjustment, I'm keeping it as-is. This is a GREAT sounding guitar that does a lot of stellar sounds, and could be the only guitar you need all night. Some of the coil split tones will get you into single coil Fender territory, but it still roars just like a Les Paul should and gets that airy snap you want from clean PAFs. Note that it's voiced bright, so for fat LP tones, roll the tone knobs back a few clicks and it sits right in where it should. That extra clarity is there if you need some single coil tones, but easily defeated when not wanted. This guitar stands in for my Tele and Strat, and does everything my LP Standard does, while weighing 2 lbs less and feeling a bit more upscale (ebony, MOP, AAA top). The nut on mine wasn't cut well, causing some intonation issues, where the treble strings were fretting sharp on the first few frets and the G string saddle wouldn't adjust far enough to intonate. Sweetwater paid for my local luthier to fix this, which was just some adjustment to the slots. The rest of the guitar was flawless, but I'm taking a star off the rating as both Gibson and Sweetwater should've picked up on that in QC. This is not a cheap guitar to come with that sort of oversight. Overall; I wanted the weight and comfort of this guitar, but didn't care about the fancy electronics, and bought it knowing I would change the looks a bit. The end result is an awesome Les Paul that sounds, plays, feels, and looks great. I'm pretty traditional with instruments, as many guitar players are. And this guitar can easily be something that looks the part, but has some tricks under the hood which are essentially invisible to a casual observer. I like that about it. Highly recommended.

Overall:First off, this is a beautiful guitar. Total stunner when you open the case. The AAA blue looks very nice. I have seen better flame tops that dance more but this one just looks beautiful. The ebony fretboard with mother of pearl inlays also help set it off. Might change the knobs down the road. I get the idea of clear ones to show off the guitar more but part of me wants different ones.Sounds great. The Only thing I would like more is if it had multiple ply binding on the guitar and some binding around the headstock. Just cosmetic issues but I think that would make it complete. The guitar does have weight relief chambering. However if you are not used to a Gibson Les Paul it can be a tad heavier if you are used to SGs or Super Strat style guitars. Might want to get yourself a nice padded guitar strap.

These are incredibly versatile, tone machines!

Ive got 3 other LPs that are all fantastic guitars. I wanted something different tonally. Couldn't bond with P90s Standard 50s. I then researched the Moderns. Never been a fan of coil taps before, but the sound of these pickups tapped impressed me. P90s sounds without the noise!

I'm beyond stoked with this guitar. The craftsmanship is next to none and it's so dang pretty! Was on the fence with spending this kinda money but no regrets! This will definitely be my daily play.
