Runs everything I throw at it max settings. Claims that this card uses too much power and throws too much heat I think are exaggerated. My system is perfectly cool and quiet using this card. You can undervolt it to a degree if you want more power efficiency and not lose any performance. No problems with stability so far. Disclaimer, I've only played a handful of games and only have maybe 30 hours on the card. I will adjust the review as I grow my experience with it.I notice Death Stranding allocated 20GB of the 24GB of VRAM. Not sure if its really using all that but it feels the need to allocate that. Looks amazing, not noticing any artifacts and in some cases I think it actually looks better than native 4k. Granted I have not tested DLSS extensively. Mostly speaking of just Death Stranding at this point. If you like RGB, this card is extremely basic on that front. Not very flashy. It does have Dual BIOS which is nice. I haven't bothered overclocking it yet, if I actually have trouble running anything I'll explore that otherwise I don't see the point. Two HDMI ports is also nice. Only ASUS and GIG offer this. HDMI 2.1 is superior bandwith to the 1,4a display ports. I would've thought a nextgen card would feature multiple of a nextgen connection but alas most of the new video cards only offer 1 for most brands including founders edition. I find this surprising and kind of ridiculous. This card is meant for 4k 120hz and you cant do that without compression methods over Display port.As with any 3090. Its not priced fairly for gaming purposes. It's a halo product for people who want the best and dont mind paying alot extra for not a ton of performance gains. I do think as games consume more and more VRAM this card could potentially differentiate itself more from the 3080 than it does now on present titles. Games already touch 10GB of VRAM quite often and games are only getting more advanced.

Had to return mine due to an issue with the power connectors. The card is excessively large, with 3inches of heat fins extending past the pcb. Because of this an extention to the 8 pin power sockets was used. This is where the fault was.The extension uses probably some of the cheapest available pins in the actual socket. They are larger in diameter vs the typical soldered-on-board pins. Because they are so large and are only retained by "wings/flaps" on either side of the pin, the necessary force required to install power causes the pins to recess into the connector resulting in no power to the gpu. This is a known issue with early production runs of this card and a new connector has since been used.

Excessive for games, excellent peeformance
9 January 2021

I admit this 3D card is hugely expensive. I only bought this because the Nvidia 3080 has been impossible to buy. I wanted to build a 2020 top spec pc. This card definitely delivers that. It is paired with a Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB RAM, M2 NVME SSD, Corsair HX750W but more importantly an LG 4K monitor. It runs COD BO Cold War maxed settings at 4K over 70fps average. It does this in near silence thanks to the huge heat sink and 3 fans. Runs approx 65C inside an NZXT 510 with an NZXT X63 AIO, one rear 80mm NZXT exhaust and a 120mm Noctua top exhaust. It is a huge card, it is about 1cm from the AIO radiator in the front of the case. Pipes have to run in the gap under the card between motherboard and case bracket.

Good Temps and Great Performance
2 March 2022

Been running it nearly nonstop for 2 weeks and so far so good. Im using Afterburner GPU at 0 and memory at +1000. Aggressive linear fan curve which starts at 50% and goes to 98% when GPU hits 50c. So far Im getting GPU around 40c , hotspot at 65c and Mem at 80-82c, at 18c ambient with about 75% fan. I do recommend leaving Afterburner on for 20 seconds after ending gaming, before shutting down completely, to continue running fans and evacuate residual heat. Planning to do thermal pads on backside and add heat sink when weather warms up here. So far Im loving this graphics card.

Great for hardcore gamers and modeling/game development.

After getting this graphics card I could could finally play the games I've only ever dreamed of playing. Such as Star Citizen or Squad. But not only is it great for games it is also amazing for game developers or 3D modelers. You can use engines such as Unreal Engine 5 to its fullest potential. And if your rendering a scene from let's say Blender. You can render it within a couple hours instead of using one of those render farms online. I timed one of my renders to 30 seconds PER FRAME. Like that's insane. I would definitely recommend those to anyone out there looking to buy this.

With the recent MSRP hike this card is just not worth it over other ones which is what I would recommend people do. If you don't mind the price hike and are just trying to find a card while it's not the greatest, it preforms well.As a 3090 it takes all workloads and gaming without any issues so far. All games and DLSS usage at 4k max settings looked amazing while running quiet the whole time. Core temp never goes above 60C.One main concern about this card for my case would be dealing with any high VRAM intensive 'workloads' with the VRAM temperatures hitting upwards of 108C at stock due to the very poor thermal pads. After replacing the VRAM thermal pads it never went above 94C in my case. Props to Best Buy for actually being a place people can get cards.

Pay 3090 price for 3080 performance

Was lucky to get a this card during lunch so i cant complain of having a graphics card during these times. It does run games at 4K at decent frame rates. Compared to last gens cards this is a great improvement and makes games look and run great on my widescreen. However the card thermal throttles during gaming. Thermal throttling is due to excessive temperature of Memory not the GPU and probably due to poor choice in thermal pads on the Memory chips. GPU temps are ok (normal displayed by games and temperature programs) but using program like HWinFo64 etc to display Memory temperature one finds temperatures consistently at over 90C and often in the 95-105C during gaming. They could have sent 10$ more per card to use decent pads and this card would be great. You can take the chance and spend an additional 60-100$ and a few hours to upgrade thermal pads or go with someone else. I got a 3080 TI from EVGA with no thermal issues that outperform this 3090 before replacing thermal pads. Used to have all Gigabyte components but this 3090 experience had me very disappointed to the point where I decided to write a review and consider looking at other manufactures going forward first.

Terrible Reliability and Stability Issues
19 April 2021

Just scroll up and down a little bit and you'll notice that this card seems to have two main issues that happen over and over, both of which I am experiencing: 1. The video will randomly stop working for a half-second all the time. Screen just cuts to black while scrolling the internet, doing nothing intensive, then everything will pop back, fine. Little "whoopsie" moments that I've never had with another card. 2. It just straight-up fails. Dead within 4 months. Lots of others in the reviews here with the same failure too: screen goes black, sound works fine, computer boots but card just doesn't produce an image. The warranty and RMA process is/was fine, they quickly issued a ticket and after shipping it out, they repaired it in a little over a week. The warranty and RMA process is/was fine, they quickly issued a ticket and after shipping it out, they repaired it in a little over a week. The diagnosis on my ticket is "Component Bad" which, seems pretty honest. Customer service was fine and the card was repaired efficiently. In terms of performance, it's a 3090. I have few complaints about its ability to game at the highest settings and encode video. The issue with this card is that it's completely unreliable. Early on I chalked the frequent crashes up to the new chip architecture, early drivers, and young RT APIs, but after nearly half a year with this card, it's plain to see that this isn't normal compared to those with cards made by other brands. Important to mention: the card was always run at stock voltage, never overclocked. If you have the luxury of choosing a 30-series GPU right now, choose a different one than this. It will be unreliable and you will most likely have to do at least one RMA before even half a year is through.

The king of video cards has arrived.
25 January 2022

Ultimate video card! Installation was a piece of cake. Just make sure you have enough clearance has this will take up practically the entire case width. If you are running front fans in the case you may have to adjust. If you are using this card for mining id strongly recommend changing out the thermal pads as all 3090 have over heating issues. If used for gaming you are in perfect shape. I ran 4k league on ultra wide screen monitor at over 100fps constant with 144hz signal through disport. No problem!
