Tried to initialize this SSD with no luck on three different devices. Had to send it back to Newegg. Their RMA process is tedious and time consuming. I still don't have a SSD to install in my Dell Latitude going on 3 weeks now. I may update this review when and if I ever get another unit.

Good but can freak out

This ssd is good for having just a storage device for windows, but it can just have little freak outs every now and then and will sometimes slow right down, can't hit the windows key, no taskbar, no opening icon thankfully this is rare and only requires you to restart the PC.

Great Purchase!
19 February 2022

No problems at all. Everything that was mentioned in the description was provided. Make note that it does not come with a screw, the screw should be in the motherboard box.

Great for £30

256GB little on the low side but thats ok its a OS drive speeds are great but transferring those larger files speeds do slow down into the 50mbsbut for £30 cant complain great for the money.

Great, but doesn't come with required screw.

One, minor, issue. You need a tiny screw to attach these sort of storage cards onto the motherboard. Gagabyte assumes that this will be in the screw hole of the motherboard. On my HP desktop, this was not the case. Fortunately I had, in my box of bits, a suitable screw. The storage itself is great, so fast. I installed it and then put a fresh install of Linux Mint onto it (/home and /var on the old HDD - this reduces the number of logging read/writes to storage.

Painless upgrade, well worth the price
23 May 2020

Tl;dr, this drive ticks all of what I was after. Install for this type of drive is absolutely painless (no cables, so good!), price was really reasonable, and I do notice the faster speeds here and there but it's not a quantum leap in performance over my old SSD.My one small criticism is that there is no support for cloning drives, as I've read other drives do come bundled with this. I guess at this price point it's hard to complain though, and I knew about this before purchase. For those in a similar situation to me (upgrading your C drive), I used AOMEI Partition Assistant - free software, you don't need to sign up, and it works really easy.I considered other faster drives - because my x570 motherboard supports PCIe gen 4 - but I saw reviews (including a good ... MoreTl;dr, this drive ticks all of what I was after. For those in a similar situation to me (upgrading your C drive), I used AOMEI Partition Assistant - free software, you don't need to sign up, and it works really easy.I considered other faster drives - because my x570 motherboard supports PCIe gen 4 - but I saw reviews (including a good blind test from Linus TT) that showed the real world difference between SSDs vs NVMEs vs PCIe gen 4 drives - and nobody picked the "faster" drives as the fastest ones. So to pay nearly twice as much for faster speeds on paper just didn't make sense - at least at this point in time.Overall though it took me 10mins (tops!) to install the drive, another 20mins to clone the old SSD to the new NVME (~200gb of data on a 500gb drive), and then just a couple of minutes to set the new drive as the primary boot in the BIOS and I was done. Less than an hour from using the old drive, to using the new one. I highly recommend it as a quick, incredibly painless upgrade if you're coming from an older drive, or even as a second m.2 if you've got one already.

Was dead on arrival
24 January 2021

I ordered this due to the model getting pretty good reviews and feedback in general, however, was dead on arrival with no luck of working. 1 motherboard wouldn't even read it, 2nd one would detect it there, but the storage itself was bad and couldn't partition it or install anything on it. I set up a replacement through new egg, I'll change my review and edit this whenever I get new replacement.

Works Great on Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X motherboard with Windows 11
12 April 2022

I'm just an amateur that has built 5 or 6 desktop machines in the last 15yrs. This was my first time using an NVMe drive and I'm pleasantly surprised. It loads Windows way faster than any SSD (SATA 6 interface) with a cable connector to the MB on any PC I've ever used.
