Exceedingly expensive without merit! Abrasive to my head, but not so much to my face when using either the GilletteLabs shaving cream or Gillette Fusion shave creams. The blades provide a super close shave, the handle feels great and is well weighted, the stand doesn't secure the handle easily nor well enough on its slant. Alot of waste to the marketing/selling packaging. Its Gillette Fusion (not Proglide) in the orange packaging is just as good and a better option economically, but doesn't come with an unnecessary stand. This review holds 100% true for its cousin with the travel case which comes with a 3rd cartridge, the travel case also uses too much unnecessary room. As it is I'll stick to the Gillette Fusion in the orange packaging, which gives a real close shave and os kinder to my skin and even let's me edge cut missed individual hairs.

Great Razor and Base with 1 too many blades

I got this GilletLabs with Exfoliating Bar Razor to replace my old Mach 3 that i've had for years and I was super pumped the day that it arrived. I was looking forward to finally having a new razor with an exfoliating bar and also to finally have a magnetic base for my razor! (which is probably the 2nd coolest feature of this product after to the exfoliating bar =) The first few times I used this razor I did notice a closer shave, so much so that I noticed I could almost go and extra day without shaving versus the standard 2 days I was used to with my Mach 3. I bought this about a month ago I normally use the fusion proGlide or proshield which are great though like all Razor refills expensive. I shave my head and face about 2-3 times a week I could shave daily but the razors only seem to cut well for about 3.5-4 shaves then I need to replace the blade. I rarely use aftershave the balms leave my face feeling greasy in the splashes makes the skin feel okay until you start to sweat. I use this shave oil called "Shave Secret" which you can shave with but when combined with shave cream or shave soap it allows a smoother shave than cream alone and I've tried them all over the years. May have finally found my razor

Since I've started shaving I've bounced from brand to brand and 3-7 blades with all sorts of features but never settled on a consistent razor. This one was a surprise and will be my choice for some time to come it seems. The first thing I noticed when unboxing was the included base. I had expected from the picture it was a plastic disc but was not ready for how solid and sturdy it was, and the weight. It sits firmly where you put it and is a solid display stand for the razor when not in use. The handle is nicely sized and allows for a solid grip no matter what hand or angle you are holding it at. Makes it easier to get into corners and specific angles. The weight is good and the handle is balanced in a way that it does not create any sort of undesirable fatigue with prolonged use. Quality is top-notch for a cartridge razor. I still somewhat believe that the claim that this razor's exfoliating technology removes debris is a gimmick...but it doesn't really hurt anything, either. I almost can't believe that I'm saying that the performance of a cartridge razor is satisfactory, but this comes way closer than anything similar. While I won't be using this as my go-to razor or a replacement to what I have been using, it will definitely be nice to have this for occasions when it might be appropriate, such as traveling.
