Always a favourite with cyclists who demand both comfort and performance, the Synthe design gets some tweaks to make it better than ever. The Synthe II Helmet (MIPS), is equipped with the MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) brain protection system. This works alongside the In-Mould polycarbonate shell and Thermoformed SL Roll Cage to deliver superb levels of impact absorption and head protection in the event of a crash. MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) The Mips system is designed to provide added safety for helmets in many accidents. For certain impacts, the Mips system can reduce harmful rotational motion that might otherwise be transferred to the user’s head. Rotational motion is a common cause of concussions in oblique hits to the head. In a crash, the Mips system is designed to move slightly inside the helmet to help redirect forces away from the head. You'll also be pleased to find the Synthe II is fast and fresh. The compact design slips through the air with minimal drag, ensuring very little wasted watts as you pick up speed. And not just that, a total of 19 Wind Tunnel vents and carefully designed internal channels create a rush of air over the head, keeping you feeling great as you warm up. X-Static anti-microbial padding is also there to keep you feeling comfortable. Quick to wick away sweat before discomfort sets in, it's also great at preventing bacterial build-up that can cause an itchy head. Cool, dry and fresh. Perfect. Roc Loc 5 Air MIPS Inside the Synthe II is the light and airy Roc-Loc 5 Air fit system. This is the industry benchmark in comfort, stability, adjustability and weight savings. In addition to enhancing fit and comfort, Roc Loc 5 allows you to easily custom tune the fit tension and the fore-aft tilt of the helmet in seconds using a single hand. And it’s lighter than comparable systems too, making it the ultimate in skull-hugging luxury.

On my third one, switched from black to white, and crashed once. Fits perfect, size small. I love that it holds the sunglasses!

I absolutely love this helmet. I've tried more expensive ones but this one is extremely light and comfortable!!When you ride, you won't notice you're wearing it, because it's so light, not sure why but I've tried lighter helmets and this one feels lighter.

After less than 3 years of kind use (wash periodically with gentle soap, transport in soft cloth bag, etc), the fit system on the back of my Synthe helmet has snapped. Also, the finish is a combination of gloss and mat, but the mat finish is peeling, I suppose from sun exposure, which is a little ridiculous, given that my head is almost always in the sun when riding...

Pros - this helmet fits me great and is comfortableCons - poor ventilation and sweat managementThis was bought to replace an original Giro Synthe which was a great helmet. The Synthe II fits my head great and is very comfortable on long rides. However it has little ventilation and so runs super hot and my head sweats buckets when I wear it, even in the depths of winter. It also has no sweat management system sweat streaming down my face once the forehead liner cant hold any more. This helmet is great as it is comfortable on long rides, but I wont be wearing it when summer rolls around.
Had Giros before and they fit my head shape well. Good ventilation and light. For MTB but I don’t get on with off road lids. Replaced my Met rival which was superb but got damaged in a cras
Very happy with this helmet. The dial adjustment system creates a great fit, with (importantly) enough room for my ponytail.
Fast delivery, great helmet. The tight fastener is a little disturbing, but I think that there will be no problems with it. I'm waiting for the weather to warm up to test it on the bike.
Owned ~3 months. Nice weight and shape (classic Giro fist of bananas...), maybe sized a little small but trial and error sorts that out. Accepts an Exposure mount for a headlight pretty well. Good helmet.
Certainly a slightly older design, but went from the Agilis to this with no problem. Great fit, light overall weight and good ventilation make for a very pleasant riding experience. It's a shame that the casing doesn't extend over the rim, leaving exposed EPS foam but ultimately that is quite minor!
I’m giving this a four star, as I’m yet to know how well it will last, but so far it is brilliant and on track to be a five star purchase hopefully. The fit of this helmet is perfect. I’ve gone through a few helmets to know what a bad fitting helmet feels like and I’ve sent many back too but this was a keeper. I bought two of them, so one for myself, and one for my husband but I have lots of hair and getting it to fit through a helmet for a comfortable fit is really critical for me. I’ve had giro helmets in the past so I knew the quality would be great but the new mips features means I can ride long miles and have no problem moving my head around lots with a pony tail in and still keep my helmet in position. I love the style too. I wanted something I could use for ... MoreI’m giving this a four star, as I’m yet to know how well it will last, but so far it is brilliant and on track to be a five star purchase hopefully.
