I have been wearing Birkenstocks for the last 34 years and I have ALWAYS worn the same size. These sandals are marked as the same size I wear but are far too small. They fit my daughter whose shoe size is 1.5 sizes smaller than mine. You cannot even attribute it to being a different style because I own the exact sandal in another color and they fit perfectly. It leads me to believe they may not be authentic Birks.

This is the fourth pair of Birkenstocks Gizeh sandals I’ve bought. Usually, I buy the Arizona style because the adjustable buckles work better for my short wide foot. But, the footbed is wide enough in the Gizeh and the adjustable buckle adjusts enough to fit my feet. I will agree with those who have said the toe piece can be uncomfortable. Of the four pair I have, only one of them, and it’s not the white one that I just bought, rubs a blister in between my toes but just on one foot. So I know I have to wear a Band-Aid between the toes if I’m wearing that pair of sandals. Overall, this is a perfect summer shoe.

I bought these Mother’s Day weekend, a gift from my husband! They are so pretty and fit my feet so well. I was looking for a sandal that would allow my big toe to be free and these fit the bill. A warning… these take commitment to get used to. I read many articles about this sandal as it’s my first time wearing Birks. The toe piece is rigid and I almost returned them because of it. However, I persevered and I hardly notice it now. I learned it can take some people up to a month to fully break in this style sandal! They are beautifully made and look nice with many outfits.

I am still breaking in these Birkenstocks, however they are already comfortable after only a couple of wears - (traditionally Birkenstocks need a couple of wears to feel like you're walking on clouds, I'm told). They look good and feel good and importantly my foot feels very supported. Simple. A good buy.I would like to make mention of the excellent service I received from 'Styletread'. I had to exchange the original pair I received as they did not feel right. I spoke with Kimberley from Customer Care at Styletread. She was friendly, polite and courteous and eager to help me with the process. I sent my original pair back and 2 days later received the replacement. Well done to Styletread.
I bought these a few weeks before my trip to Vegas. After reading how Birkenstocks are so comfortable, I bought my first pair hoping they would make walking so much wouldn't be so painful. I started breakout them in as soon as I got them. The part that's in between your toes is a hard plastic piece that never softened up. I put moleskin on the plastic part hoping that would help. It didn't. It got to the point where just putting my feet in them hurt so bad. Needless to say, I wasn't able to use them for my trip and had to buy a new pair of sandals the day before I left for Vegas. Now I question whether I buy a different pair of sandals from them because this was such a painful experience.
I have heard rave reviews of Birkenstocks and despite the cost I was ready to make the plunge. I was glad for the European sizing because I am a reliable 41 but US sizing tends to fluctuate. But upon receiving these, the 41 is at least a size larger than I expected. If these were standard sandals it wouldn't really matter, but these are quite aggressively molded to a hypothetical person's foot so there were some pretty intense ridges and insteps which were entirely incongruous with my foot shape and size. I'll be returning.
I heard so many raves about Birkenstock sandals that I went ahead and purchase a pair, one that I seen on 1000+ feet. The reviews were very good. I find them uncomfortable to wear. My toes on one shoe fall on the raised rim around the front of the toe and it always feel like I've got dirt under my feet when wearing them. Just can't get comfortable. I will continue to wear them around the house to see if they eventually adjust. Too late to return.
These are a very cute sandal but the center toe piece is made of extremely hard plastic which caused my feet to crack and split open. Had it been made out of leather these sandals would have been perfect! I am now forced to take the time to go into the store in person and go through what could be a hassle to return and exchange for a different style of Birkenstock. I’m hoping Salem, OR Macy’s treats me right and makes this process easy. I do love their shoes.
I’ve never been more disappointed in a pair of Birkenstocks. They were great in terms of foot/arch support, as you’d expect from Birkenstock. But these are “flip flop”-style sandals with a piece between your toes. That piece is made from SOLID plastic. I’m talking solid as a rock!! With most flip flop sandals of this nature, that piece between the toes have at least some flexibility & move with your foot. These do not. AT ALL!! With every step I took (just around my house) it felt like I was jamming the part between my toes into a pole. I mean— did anyone even TRY these before deciding to sell them?? They’re horrible! I even tried to tighten the buckle more to keep my foot from moving as much but nothing helped. These will be returned pronto. My only regret is that ... MoreI’ve never been more disappointed in a pair of Birkenstocks. They were great in terms of foot/arch support, as you’d expect from Birkenstock. I've been wonderfully blessed with flat/weak arches, heels that want to collapse inward like the stick that broke the camels back, and the oh-so horrid second toe that is longer than the big toe. Makes it hard to find shoes, especially sandals, that dont give off geriatric or cavemen vibes, no offense.Of course I went through the cheaper options, I'm only human. I dont think Im one to drag my feet, but after a few months most of the soles of my sandals were non-existent. Slipping on the stairs and going down like a sack of potatoes gave me quite the obvious epiphany that maybe, just maybe, there's something else out there that dont cause my toes to clamp down like falcon talons anytime I walk on tile for fear of public humiliation. After years of hearing hippies ... MoreI've been wonderfully blessed with flat/weak arches, heels that want to collapse inward like the stick that broke the camels back, and the oh-so horrid second toe that is longer than the big toe. Being the rebel I am, I went leather. Hope that still gets me in the club, as I'm sure most wear vegan. I've recently jumped on the Moosejaw wagon and it's been a good ride so far. I suppose I'll also admit Im a sucker for rewards (thanks Moosejaw for finding my kryptonite). So naturally, I rationalized to myself that I wasn't "really" spending that much on a pair of shoes.Enough rambling. Anyways, I was like a kid at Christmas when the package came. I slid on my little heaven walkers, and.....whoa. They keep my heels and arches in check like a Navy Seal drill sergeant, and that lonely long toe can join the rest of the piggies, safely tucked inside the front lip of the shoe. Throw a little polish and BAM, feet that look like I'm intentionally letting them out of sneaker confinement. Guess the moral of the story is.....trust a hippie?
