I was first given this candle a few years back for Christmas and I'm really not much of a candle person (I've burnt many things by forgetting about them) but I had this candle burning every few days. Honestly, I am so disappointed. The new change makes me so sad. I used to love LBD and I have two left of the original form. Please bring it back I am begging you. The black colour was so magical and the smell was devine.BRING BACK LBD

OK look, this I have given so many times a try and the benefit of the doubt. The fist time was 15 months ago with a mini candle and it was absolutely heinous. I had completed a round of chemotherapy 6 months previous to that, and of course I didn't know anything aromatic would be so intolerable when I was on chemo and after. But boy was I finding out fast. With anything...perfume, smoke, foods, garlic. Garlic...you become like a vampire to it, LOL. The other thing I have noticed the wax burns 2-3 times FASTER than any other Glasshouse mini candle which correlates with my theory that this wax is mixed with petroleum. The mini Manhattan candle was gone before I knew it whilst the others are still hanging around. I even bought a large Manhattan to try, and it normally takes 4 hours for the top layer of wax to burn and with Manhattan it only took 1 hour. There is no denying it. As soon as you lift the lid you get a petrol aroma. I like the smell of petrol when you fill up your car tank but not as a candle. So anyway, Manhattan is the most appropriate title for this candle because Manhattan is a concrete jungle of roads and skyscrapers (except for Central Park of course). I don't know how 'Little black dress' fits into things, but so be it.

I absolutely adore the original scent Manhattan: Little Black Dress as it was perfectly musky without being too sickly sweet or soapy. I have been told by Glasshouse Reps repeatedly that I'll Take Manhattan is the exact same fragrance, just with a revamped packaging and different candle. I have since been able to source the original LBD and have tested them against one another, and can officially confirm they are totally different. I'll Take Manhattan has a less musky, more blood orange and sweet scent that is far more overpowering than LBD. If you like this change, then this will be for you. But if you are a LBD fanatic like me, you will be very disappointed.
The original Manhattan was my all time favourite. I asked a friend to bring me the new one, and it turned out to be a huge disappointment after a month long waiting.Sure it has the same notes, but the new one lost its perfect musky scent. Cheeky floral is a safe card that works on other normal candles of Glasshouse, but not the Manhattan lbd. It’s understandable if the recipe is changed in order to balance the flame (as it always burns faster than other Glasshouse candles), but at least get the scent right... And it’s such a disgrace that all the good reviews of the original LBD has been kept to endorse this new and totally different candle.

The fragrance pretty much lured me into the store and that's when I made my first Glasshouse purchase never turning to look at other brands. Out of the wide range of fragrances available this is definitely my favourite. The packaging is absolutely beautiful to the tiniest detail such as the pink bow around the glass top and is proudly displayed on my coffee table which almost always catches people's eyes. I've had people comment on the luscious fragrance and on more than one occasion have used it for really "special" nights to set the mood with absolute success. The luxurious scent immediately calms the mind and transports you to a sensual world. The candle lasts for a long time and even after repeated use it has hardly reduced in size. The best part is when the wax starts to melt and you can see a whirlpool of molten wax emanating an alluring scent. To stop it from burning further, just put the lid on to cut off the oxygen supply instead of having to blow on it. That way there are no stinky grey fumes that candles usually give off spoiling the whole experience. Experience, that's the word I would describe the candle, it's not just about lighting a candle, it's about 'experiencing it'. Had this candle also come in perfume format I would buy it in a heartbeat. This is one such fragrance you would want to engulf yourself in.
I have tried and tested a lot of candles, and LBD with the black wax was my absolute favourite. It stood out from the rest and both my sister in law loved it & would buy it for each other every Christmas and birthday. Please bring it back. Clearly from the reviews so many people want it back, just as it was, black. It looked so good with my dark wooden floorboards - please begging you to bring it back.

Blood Orange & Orchid? Described as being floral? Absolutely not. This smells horrible and nothing like it's described. Opened up and can't smell anything. Start to burn it and it is definitely NOT floral. So disappointing!
It's good quality. Burns well and has lasted. But...it smells just like soap... The fragrance reminds me of those little carved floral soaps that my Gran used to put out for guests. It's not an unpleasant fragrance, but it's not a particularly sophisticated one either. And because it's so "soapy" not one I'd have in the dining or living rooms, it's really limited to using in the bathroom or ensuite. Which is a bit disappointing.
