Easy to use. I sharpened all of my 8-year old Global knives, and there was a very marked improvement. This is much better and more efficient than the whetstone I used to use (yes, an old fashioned whetstone). This gets just the right angle.

Easy to use. I sharpened all of my 8-year old Global knives, and there was a very marked improvement. This is much better and more efficient than the whetstone I used to use (yes, an old fashioned whetstone). This gets just the right angle.
I was afraid of my older version from another source and manufacturer. Both my husband and I felt like we would cut either ourselves or the countertop when we pulled the knives through. As it aged it also took to chewing up the blades and when you pay as much as we have over 5 decades for knives this is BAD. This new one has felt safe, both to knives and to us, and has sharpened everything while chewing up nothing. WIN! We are especially grateful because the 3 places within 10 miles of our home which shaprened knives have closed permanently.
A straightforward and easy-to-use sharpener that brings back bite to the blade of my Global knife. It didn't sharpen non--Global knives as well, but it still improved their sharpness. Good value for the price.
I have two Global knives as well a larger set of Shun's and older Henckels, but have never learned proper sharpening with stones, so need a viable alternative. This sharpener seems superior to the others of this general pull-through type. The water tray and two stone coarse/fine makes sense. What I cannot answer is whether this is only suited to the edge on Global knives which have a continuous taper to the cutting edge rather than a bevel near the edge, as would have been true of the original edge on my Shun's. The clear cover for the water area that also serves as the blade guide is lightweight so tends to pop open if you're not careful, but that is a minor quibble.
I love this sharpener. It’s perfect for my global knives. It sharpens them easily and I like that it holds the blade at the correct angle. It’s safe and small, it doesn’t take up a lot of space in my drawer.Well worth the investment.
I agree with the other reviewer. I was not happy to get a serrated edge knife that I did not want or need. The ad did not show a serrated edge knife. Very disappointed.
I brought these a little over a month ago and I have used all three of them. I love how well they handle and I hope the live up to being dishwasher safe. the shape and quality are great. I would strongly recommend these.
